  3. Re: Some pics of the wound well here are some pics. i needed to let it air out for a little bit because my skin was soggy around it so i thought might as well take some pics now. As you can see it went across my knuckle sideways so I am kinda worried about when I get the stitches out, when I bend my thumb if it will open back up or how much I will be able to bend my thumb. Mike
  4. Well at work today I was cutting cardboard with a utility knife. I had the blade out just a little bit to far and it broke and knife hit my thumb. Split that baby wide open. I went to the doc and ended up gettin 7 stitches/sutures. There was blood all over and i just stood there holding my thumb. I went to my boss and told her "I think i need to go get stitches." It was definitly not the smartest thing I have ever done. I look back now and keep thinking to myself man that was dumb. I can post pics tommorow when I clean it if anyone would like too see. Mike
  5. Re: ***Here is a touchy subject...lets talk about I learned this early. The very first deer that i shot, i hit low. I hit behind the should but it was were the white of the belly meets the brown. Me and my brother followed the blood trail for an hr and half that night. After noticing that it had bedded down 2-3 times we decided to wait untill the morning. Marked the last spot with the gps and went home. That whole night i was sick to my stomach. At day break next morning we were back out there. We took the blood trail real slow and ended up walking up on the deer (within 5 feet) and it still being alive. I made a lethal shot to finish her off. We ended up tracking her for 3/4 of a mile. From then on it showed me how much effort there must be in recovering a deer that is not hit well. Mike

  15. Re: First Bow Kill!!!! [ QUOTE ] i like that bow! [/ QUOTE ] Thanks, I have had it for about 4 years. It is a Bowtech Mighty Mite. 32 inches axle to axle, i like the smallness and it is forgiving and smooth. [ QUOTE ] that's a great 1st kill. congrats. but, do you really need a backhoe to lift her... lol [/ QUOTE ] Oh yeah she was so heavy . I could barely put her on the back of my 4 wheeler by myself lol . That was just the only thing we had to hang her from at the moment.

  19. Well this morning I arrowed my very first deer with a bow after 8 years of hunting. She is not the biggest but I am happy with her. I am guessing she would weigh about 100 lbs live weight and was last years fawn. 15 yards and spined her. The story is in my Journal. Here are some pics. I found a new use for our new backhoe. Mike
  20. Re: A new Toy! Some guy that built parks had it and wanted a new one so he wanted to sell this one. After he seen how much the other ones were goin for he almost backed out of the deal but my dad already had the loan approved and the money so the guy went through with it. Got lucky on this one. Mike
  21. Well my dad just bought us a new 'toy' to play around on.I will try to get some pics up soon.I believe it is a Case 580C backhoe. It is in 'not bad' shape, and i almost fell over when he said what he paid for it. Everything works on it, came with an extend-a-hoe (i think thats what they call it) so we can reach out to 19 ft and dig or whatever. It came with a 30 inch bucket and a trench bucket for the back and a 1 yard bucket on the front. He paid 5k for it. I dont know much about backhoes but i thought it was a heck of a deal. Mike
  22. Re: Team 18 I will be sitting in the stand sunday morning. Hoping for a buck also but am gonna try to shoot a doe if the oppurtunity presents itself. I have not taken anything with a bow yet so it will be my first. Good Luck everyone.
