  1. Probably having a deer for the yotes to feed on saved the gut shot deer from the same fate as the mauled deer.
  2. My babygirl is 12 and will be heading to the field this year. I want to get her a little 20 ga. to get her started. I'm presently looking hard at the Mossberg Bantam. But I don't want to miss any possible choices. I was wondering, what are you other dad's buying for your kids first shotgun? She wants to hunt turkeys this spring and all sorts of small game this fall.
  3. Happy Birthday guys! Have a great one!
  4. LOL! Around here it's supposed to get in the upper 30's toward the end of the week. :bang:
  5. Although the quality of the footage is poor, it is definately a great example of how Mother Nature can be merciless b_tch. However I cannot agree with Martin (to a point). I'm given 1 tag to hunt with. I'm not going to waste it on the bruised up piece of swiss cheese of a deer. I would contact my local Encon officer for a tag or for him to pick it up for donation. So yes I would have shot the 130 class deer. Shame on the hunter for putting down the deer for being "only" a 130 class deer. I'm giving the shooter the benefit of the doubt. One thing that does not show up in the video is where the shot deer finally lays down. If that deer had laid down anywhere near the beat up deer. I'm wouldn't take a chance of bumping the shot deer for the other. Thanks for sharing the cool video.
  6. Nice rig! Don't bring it to NY, it would be illegal here.
  7. Congrats! Get yourself a treestand and a bag of corn and you will have your own little food plot.
  8. Knee mail sent from across the river!
  9. I don't need to pin point a spot. I would like to see the contour of the bottom of the lake.
  10. We have very specific regs here in NY for outdoor wood furnaces. Those who burn wood are not happy with them.
  11. Funny you should say that. With all the snow we have, everyone is excited that when it melts maybe the Lake Ontario water levels will finally be back to normal. But I suspect that the Army Corps of Engineers will flush it away.
  12. Check out the Wishbow. Something new and different. http://www.chiricoarchery.com/
  13. Another thing I would do is go to Archery Talk and see what other users there have to say. You are more likely to find other people who are using the same sighting system that you are.
  14. I'm not too familiar with that new sighting system. Lining up that little dot seems more complicated (especially at longer distances) than using a good old fashion peep.
  15. Got more than a foot of white here yesterday. Expecting more today. Our total snowfall so far is over 14 feet!
  16. My babygirl turned 12 in October. So much of my focus will be getting her ready for the great outdoors.
  17. Went ice fishing this past week with the kids and couldn't find our hot spot which is a sunken island. Is there a phone app that will show the contours of the bottom of the lake in relation to where I am standing on the ice? Sort of a depth finder slash underwater topo map so to speak?
  18. That is awesome! Sweet knife!
  19. Hope you have a great day Ross! :drink:
  20. Yes yes! Thank you Realtree and thanks Redneck for supervising!
  21. Yup back in the forums hayday we had all sorts of stuff. I still have my Realtree forums window sticker on my truck but its getting worn out. I still go bowhunting only in my forums hat.
  22. Wishing you both all the best!
  23. What does a non-resident small game and turkey tag run down there?
  24. Hopefully next year you will plan your vacation date a little later and be there for a hunt.
