  1. Re: man shot and killed by uncle hunting? With the incident in Northern NY, the man was charged with manslaughter, not murder and was a relative of the victim. I have not read anything about the victim wearing blaze orange yet but I have not read the final report yet. Should find out more today. Ranger

  4. Re: What persuasive speech can I give?? Back in 1992 when doing my grad work I had to do a persuasive speech for my public speaking class. I did it on trapping. Brought in different types of traps, discussed pain thresholds of animals vs humans, coyotes eating pets in suburban areas, etc. etc. etc. It went very well. There were some that would not agree no matter what (PETA Freaks) but I made strides forward. I got an A because my teacher said I took on one the most difficult topics in the class and won. If this does not help just watch the national news. There is a bunch there to choose. Try this one "Is Dan Rather a Communist" that should raise some eyebrows. OR! and teachers hate this, Is the 1st Amendment being abused by our media to sway elections. Good luck and tell us how you make out! Ranger

  6. I hope this hasn't been discussed before but I say this a lot in public. I believe that if you harvest a deer you should get a discount on your car insurance. Do you agree?

  11. Re: which bullet to you shoot? I shoot .50 cal. 348 gr. Powerbelts. Used to use T/C Maxiballs but switched to these. I like the big bullet for more knockdown power at close range. I would use a smaller one like a 295 if you plan on shooting over 100 yards. Ranger
  12. Re: Muzzle-Loader Sighting -- Recommendations Please Oops! I just noticed you were shooting a hawken style gun. That is what I have. My is a T/C Renegade. I take back what I said about Pyrodex Pellets. They were made mainly for in-line rifles. Use a loose powder like Pyrodex, Triple 7 or one of the others. You will get better ignition. Ranger
  13. Re: Great Realtree deal in central/northern NY Oops! Sorry GW, you are absolutely correct! there is an Oneida store. Ranger

  16. Re: These people call theirselves hunters?!?!?! Padding is typical of Liberals. They cannot debate issues so they get all emotional and try to cloud the facts with LIES. Don't believe me, just ask Dan Rather. Ranger
  17. Every gun is different. I found that my gun shoots best with 80 gr. of powder. You will need to determine what is the best load for your gun. Does the manufacturer recommend a load? I would suggest starting with two 50 gr. pyrodex pellets and a 295 gr. Powerbelt bullet. BE SURE not to set your targets out to far. Get the gun zeroed in then put it out a little farther. Be sure to swab out your barrel with some cleaner every one or two shots. Hope this helps Ranger

  19. Re: Great Realtree deal in central/northern NY I shop at the store in Watertown. There are stores in Herkimer, Rome, Utica & New Hartford also. I tried the pants this last weekend and they are the best I have owned. I plan to buy another pair. Gander Mountain had nothing like these. Ranger

  24. Re: what do u hunt with Rifle, shotgun & blackpowder Ranger
  25. I own 2 Propoints I bought in 1995. I took the one off my rifle but still use the one on my shotgun. I love my Propoint but I'm looking to upgrade to an AimTech. They cost a little more but you have no parralax (sp). Whatever you choose, make sure your dot is 5 MOA or smaller. One suggestion I might make since I see it is for a rifle. Red dot scope are for short range shooting and not for over 100 yards. I took the red dot off my rifle because it was difficult to shoot long range shots or through thick brush. The magnification you get from a scope can help you thread the needle if you have to. However when I hunt in our shotgun only section I will NOT hunt without it!!! I love it!! Where ever I put the red dot is where the slug is going. The buck in my picture (123 B&C) under my name was killed last year with a red dot. They are great for close range brush busting shooting!! Any questions just PM me. Ranger
