  2. Re: Antler King Food Plots I have 3 acres of Antler King Trophy Blend Clover that is about 4 years old. I didn't do a great job of weed control early on and have been battling them since the beginning. Early on, the clover really drew in the deer. It has seemed to lose its attractiveness the past couple of years and as soon as I can, I plan to replant. I probably won't go with Antler King next time. I have nothing negative to say about their product, I just want to try something different like Hammann Farms and Tecamate.
  3. Re: lifetime license Me, my dad, and my brother all bought them in 1987. $483 for comp. hunting/fishing. It's been well worth it.
  4. Re: Cambell Whitetail Circuit Not a member here either but I looked into it. Looks to be an expensive hobby (of course what's not?) The digital video cameras they use start at around $2500. It's a really cool show and cool that it's close to home for me, but I preferred the quality of footage on Drury's Dream Season which works on the same premise.
  5. Re: Round up for food plots I can't answer your question. I use "Clear Out" which is basically generic Round Up, sold at Rural King. I bought a 2.5 gallon jug for around $67 which was around half what Round Up was selling for. You might check the price/ounce of each to see which is the better deal for you. The Clear Out works well for me.

  8. Re: What slug barrel to put on my 870 express? I put a rifled Hastings with cantilever scope mount on my wife's 870 and it's a tack driver.
  9. Re: I would like to say... [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Guess what...I didn't get anything. I got him some candy, some "valentine boxers" and a stuffed lion that says I love you and put it in his truck so he would see it before work. (I guess he saw it) So, I'm not having a good day today. [/ QUOTE ] If you didn't end up getting anything, you aren't alone! I took my fiance out to drinks and dinner Saturday night, and then home for some more"fun". (Had to do it saturday because I don't get home on Mondays until after 10 pm. ) I came home and asked him what he got me...told me he didn't have a chance to get anything ( ) so he will take me out to dinner some time. I told him what he can do with his dinner! Hope you DID get something because this really rots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [/ QUOTE ] I made the mistake of not putting enough thought into last year's gift so you can be dang sure I didn't do it again this year. I gave the Mrs. a nice card and some jewelry, and she was a much happier camper this year. Sorry to hear that you gals didn't have a happy Valentine's day.
  10. Re: cabelas or redhead? Cabela's. I love their name brand clothing and their service is excellant. I usually have my order within 3 days. Redhead has nice stuff and I still use them from time to time, but when I used to order from them more it would take longer for their stuff to be delivered than it does for Cabela's.

    dont get it

Re: dont get it I see it as another status symbol and nothing else. When my 10 year old step daughter asks for one I will tell her yet again to quit worrying about what everyone else thinks.
  12. Re: Claude Dallas released [ QUOTE ] my fellow hunters remember he will have to answer to a higher judge He will take care of him nate [/ QUOTE ] I know I know, but it sure would be nice to arrange an early meeting.

  18. Re: Shot the Switchback and Outback [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] cause the money is not always there.....old guys with me in this married with kids group knows [/ QUOTE ] I hear that. I was kinda used to getting what I want when I want it. The last few years have been rough...Spend it while you can boys... [/ QUOTE ] Ditto. My 7 year old Hoyt still does a very nice job, but the new bows sure are pretty. 3 young kids really cut back on the "big boy toys".
  19. Re: Remember ??? Great pic iminrut! It looks like the buck closest to the camera has an old injury above the shoulder. Do you think it's from fighting or do you think he was shot?
  20. Re: food plot fertlizer [ QUOTE ] Is it easy to tell that INbowhunter, William, Todd and I are really itching to get out and turn some soil, or is it just me? [/ QUOTE ] Busted. I enjoy planting and tending my plots almost as much as hunting them.
  21. Re: food plot fertlizer The 10-10-10 should be fine for the beans, but like wtnhunt said I'd use a low N fertilizer for the food plot. Around here I can get a 6-24-24 in bags without having to mix anything and I use that. It may not be the ideal mix but works.

    spreading lime

Re: spreading lime You're exactly right, as the snow melts it will help draw the lime into the ground (assuming the area doesn't have excessive runoff). Many farmers sew clover seed when snow is on the ground so the melting snow will help draw it into the ground. My only concern would be if the snow would be too deep for the wheels on your spreader to properly work. Having not seen your spreader and not knowing how deep your snow is, it's hard to say, but you should be able to make that judgement call. As stated in another thread, it takes approx. 6 months for lime to do its desired job, so better to spread it now than to wait.

    archery club

Re: archery club I think it is a great idea and I was definitely interested in archery in the 7th grade. If you need info on kid's archery programs you might contact someone with the Kentucky DNR or KY schools. They had a huge kid's archery program last year or the year before, with Mathews Archery even donating some equipment. For that matter you might contact Mathew's and let them know what you have in mind. Good luck with a great cause.
