    lime

Re: lime [ QUOTE ] Oh--don't you love Chemistry [/ QUOTE ] I think Chemistry was my least favorite class in college, or maybe it was the early morning 4 hour chem labs after partying the night before. Now if the prof would have explained everything in terms of how if affects crops it would've been more interesting.

    lime

Re: lime After reading the original post again I'm going to assume you'll be buying the powdered lime loose, probably hauling it in a truck. One thing to consider, and a big reason everyone is suggesting pelletized, is that it will take more powdered lime than pelletized, and you will have to shovel all of it into the hopper instead of pouring it from a bag. You'll have a much bigger mess to clean up afterwards as well.

    lime

Re: lime I'd have to agree, manure will increase the N in your soil. The powdered lime will work in your spreader, but how will you get the lime to your food plot and how will you load it in the spreader? Does it come in bags like pelletized or is it loose?

    lime

Re: lime I'll second and third what has already been said. Unless you will be using a buggy style spreader or unless your spreader has a good agitator, stick with pelletized lime. Make sure is has been kept dry or you will be fighting clumps the whole time and that is a huge pain in the rear.
  8. Re: That\'s just seems nasty. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Better yet, can you imagine the poor s.o.b. who's job it is to "collect" the stuff. [/ QUOTE ] Easy now---I just got finished "collecting" some off a stud dog that is too stupid to do it the natural way. He's a champion show dog--just not a champion "lover" todd [/ QUOTE ] Oops! Sorry!!
  9. Re: Totally Jacked Ram Holy crap! It looks like one of the "Stomper" trucks I had as a kid. Very cool, but I wouldn't want to have to throw a deer into the bed.

  14. Re: HAS THIS EVER HAPPENED TO YOU? You did an admirable thing there SuperiorLures_. Not many people could let go of a buck that size. Because of your actions, I'd bet that boy learned a good lesson that day and is more ethical hunter today because of it.
  15. Re: Bubba\'s Hunting Vehicle Back in high school I had a car and no truck and hauled probably half a dozen deer in the trunk over the years. I always closed the trunk lid however.
  16. Re: Creating Bedding Areas???? For other species to plant, also look into multiflora rose and russian olive or autumn olive. Do you want a bedding area in the woods or do you want to convert an old field? In woods you'll need to open up the canopy by taking out the largest trees. The additional sunlight will encourage new growth. Leave the treetops lay where they fall. In an old field, just let it grow. Nature will take its course and you'll have good bedding cover in a few years.
  17. Re: HAS THIS EVER HAPPENED TO YOU? Like previously stated it comes down to a person's ethics. In your friend's case: mortally wounded deer on public land, if I was the second person to shoot it and saw that the first hit was fatal, I'd give the deer to the first shooter. One thing to consider though....you state that your friend heard the second shot then stopped tracking because he didn't want to get shot. Because of that, the second shooter did not have the opportunity to give the deer to the first shooter. It's not his obligation to track down the first shooter, it's the first shooter's obligation to track down the deer. In this case the second shooter could have very easily assumed that the first shooter lost the blood trail or was too lazy to follow it.
  18. Re: Here\'s Some Big Ones! [ QUOTE ] Guesse Im a little confused what everybodys bent outta shape for.HH never claimed he shot these deer, actually he never even claimed they were in his house, he just posted some pics of some nice deer.Be like me going to Cabelas, snapping some pics of mounts and sharing with you all just cause I thought you might like to see some nice antlers.I missed whatever HH done that was edited but some of the other comments seemed a little harsh considering he never even typed anything to go along with the pics. [/ QUOTE ] I'm feel the same way. In just the last few months I've seen at least two other members post pics of their "new record buck" that were photoshopped. Most people right away assumed it was a big joke and had a good laugh. Why is this situation different when Harry never even claimed to have killed these bucks? I didn't get to see the pic of the flying bird and I'm not referring to that at all, just his original post and the subsequent reaction.
  19. Re: Best Bet? [ QUOTE ] take me, we dont have elk in indiana. one day i would love to hunt one with a bow. good luck. [/ QUOTE ] Actually we do have elk in Indiana, just not free-roaming elk. I can think of 4 places within an hour drive of me that have elk. Like someone else said, for trophy bulls I'd vote for New Mexico. For a more inexpensive do it yourself hunt I'd have to say Colorado.
  20. Re: Under Armour Rocks!!! Got my top last week and the bottoms are still on backorder at Cabela's.
  21. Re: Brady or Manning? I'd have to go with Manning. Give Manning the offensive line that Brady has and then see what his record would be.
  22. Re: Best/Worst names a man can be called! Best: I can't wait until I hear "Daddy". It will be several months before my little one learns to talk though. Worst: according to Johnny Cash, it is Sue.
  23. Re: Smokeless Shooting Technology Rises Another concern I would have is all ML barrels I've seen are stamped with "Use black powder only". With that I would assume using smokeless powder will void any warranty and release the gunmaker from any liabilities if the shooter was harmed from a damaged gun. In other words "try at your own risk".
  24. Re: No big deer left in Ohio..... That sounds like a great deer. I won't be able to make it to that show, so if anyone else does, please take pics and post them.
  25. Re: Why I hate hogs...... dogdoc I'm sorry to see all your hard work on your plots get destroyed like that. It gets expensive. I'm glad we don't have hogs where I hunt. The bright side, if you enjoy tractor time and planting your plots, the hogs just gave you more of it.
