  1. 102 Average So this new private land I just picked up 32 Acres....I moved my trail cam down to it on Saturday afternoon...I stopped by it on my way home yesterday (Tues) after work...and I find I have 306 pics on it!!! That's 102 a day Average!!! Just about every pic had deer on them...I counted at least 3 different sets of does with fawns still with them..nothing with any significant headgear of yet, but I'm pretty psyched to say the least! I'm thinking that this is going to be a pretty hot spot come pre-rut/rut with all these does cruising through there, so they will come! Less than a week till our opening day! Best of luck all! ~ Van
  2. Hey Guys, I'm Van, I live in Connecticut, but don't let that fool ya, we got some nice one's here! I have 2 prime pieces of private land that I hunt and I also hunt the 28,000 acre Pachaug State Forest, that I got a nice 9 pt off of last year! As for team name, I'm all about "The Brotherhood"!! My opening day is a week away, Sep. 15th, and I'm hoping to contribute early and often. I am bowhunting, shotgun, and muzzleloader this year, I have 10 tags to fill in all, and plan on doing my best to fill em' all! Best of luck to all, and let's fill the freezers!! ~ Van
  3. The Fishing Trip Dave and his buddies were hanging out and planning an upcoming fishing trip. Unfortunately, he had to tell them that he couldn't go this time because his wife wouldn't let him. After a lot of teasing and name calling, Dave headed home frustrated. The following week when Dave's buddies arrived at the lake to set up camp, they were shocked to see Dave. He was already sitting at the campground with a cold beer, swag rolled out, fishing rod in hand, and a camp fire glowing. "How did you talk your missus into letting you go, Dave?" "I didn't have to," Dave replied. Yesterday, when I left work, I went home and slumped down in my chair with a beer to drown my sorrows because I couldn't go fishing. Then the ol' lady Snuck up behind me and covered my eyes and said, 'Surprise'." "When I peeled her hands back, she was standing there in a beautiful see through negligee and she said, ' Carry me into the bedroom, tie me to the bed and you can do whatever you want'..... . . . ........So, here I am!"

  5. Very nice!!! I believe my season is done!! It was a fun, successful season with getting the biggest buck of my life with my bow, the 9 Pt off State land...I'm very happy and satisfied with my season, and already looking forward to the coming fall to take up the hunt yet again! For those of you still at it...Best of Luck, it was a pleasure being on your team, and very fun as well! ~ Van
  6. Congrats on the doe...I'm still hoping that I am able to get some shoreline property permission before the end of the month, if not, at least I was able to contribute something, and it was fun, and that's what is supposed to be all about!
  7. Very nice!! Congrats, enjoyed the story as well!
  8. Congrats on your "dream" buck!!
  9. The good husband Jack wakes up with a huge hangover after attending his company's party. Jack is not normally a drinker, but the drinks didn't taste like alcohol at all. He didn't even remember how he got home from the party. As bad as he was feeling, he wondered if he did something wrong. Jack had to force himself to open his eyes, and the first thing he sees is a couple of aspirins next to a glass of water on the side table. And, next to them, a single red rose! Jack sits up and sees his clothing in front of him, all clean and pressed. He looks around the room and sees that it is in perfect order, spotlessly clean. So is the rest of the house. He takes the aspirins, cringes when he sees a huge black eye staring back at him in the bathroom mirror. Then he notices a note hanging on the corner of the mirror written in red with little hearts on it and a kiss mark from his wife in lipstick: "Honey, breakfast is on the stove, I left early to get groceries to make you your favorite dinner tonight. I love you, darling! Love, Jillian." He stumbles to the kitchen and sure enough, there is hot breakfast, steaming hot coffee and the morning newspaper. His 16 year old son is also at the table, eating. Jack asks, "Son ...what happened last night?" "Well, you came home after 3 A.M., drunk and out of your mind. You fell over the coffee table and broke it, and then you puked in the hallway, and got that black eye when you ran into the door." Confused, he asked his son, "So, why is everything in such perfect order and so clean? I have a rose, and breakfast is on the table waiting for me??" His son replies, "Oh THAT ... Mom dragged you to the bedroom, and when she tried to take your pants off, you screamed, "Leave me alone, b**ch, I'm married!!" Broken Coffee Table: $239.99 Hot Breakfast: $4.20 Two Aspirins: $.38 Saying the right thing, at the right time: PRICELESS!
  10. 15. ABC's Extreme Home Makeover is in my town building a brand new home for a very deserving family....our town has a population of about 2,582 people in it, they got so many volunteers they were turning people away! www.extremehomebybruno.com Follow the link to the builders site for the story about the family, and you can view the media links, and check out the photo's of the build. I had the priviledge to help on Sunday, as well as my wife who volunteered her time in the Salvation Army canteen handing out coffee and soup for the workers, we know this family personally, their children attend school with my children, and it's amazing to see the out pour of support for them, it makes me proud to say that I belong to such a wonderful community. ~ Van
  16. Wow, Awesome deer! Congrats, and welcome!! ~ Van
  17. Don't give up until the last second of the last day!! Our Connecticut ML season starts here on the 10th - 23rd, then we have another week of bow the 24th - 31st...I don't have any zone 11 or 12 property to hunt so that will be the end of my year....I'm hoping to put down at least 1 or 2 with the ML, and I think I can eek out at least 1 more with the bow before the end of the month, time will tell, but I'm not quitting I can tell ya that!
  18. Good job Flyer, Congrats!! I'm still hitting it hard this week, I've seen quite a few but none within bow range..last week I missed a booner that if I had to do all over again, I'd of waited just a few seconds longer, God taught me a lesson that day...patience! Keep at em'! Good Luck all!
  19. Awesome! Congrats to her...now buy her a bow! lol. ~ Van
  20. Next week....the bucks should be cruisin next week....I'm taking the whole week off, to hopefully fill a couple more tags...hope eveyone is doing well, and we are doing pretty good, hope we all can put some more down!
  21. 10-29-2008 Here is my Connecticut (Pachaug)State land 9PT I got last night!! He came in at 5:16 pm...I'm not going to lie and say it was a perfect double lung shot, I hit him a little far back, but he was quartering away pretty good, so I caught the top of one lung, the bottom line is that he went down and a buddy and I found him last night about 9:15. After the shot, I saw the arrow sticking out of him, and he ran about 60-70 yards before cutting into the woods, it appeared that he staggered cutting in, so I waited until Sunset, got down, phoned home, and just about an hour after the shot took up the trail, it had gotten to the point to where the drops were getting small so I decided to back out rather than chance pushing the animal. I called a friend, and we went back out about 8:45, to retake up the trail, I had asked him what he thought, he said if we didn't find the deer within a 100 yards we'd back back out and wait until morning...well not even 50 yards from where I had initially stopped we found him piled up! All the time God is good! ~ Van
  22. Team Predator 14 total points for us..here is my State Land 9 pointer! ~ Van

  24. Went out a few times, missed one a week ago Friday, then left town for a week, got out on Sat, and saw a bunch but no shots, same deal yesterday, but I'm seeing where they are coming out of the woods and into the cut corn field...it's just a matter of time! ~ Van
