Re: Mouth calls Tongue pressure will change the pitch in a call, but you can also deepen the cuts to make them raspier. But cut them only alittle at a time!!!! You can purr on a mouth call!! Granted it will take alittle more time, but you can get some pretty realistic purrs with the right mouth call. Hope this helps, good luck. God Bless

Re: Turkey setup The reason some hunters use a jake decoy is to work the dominance thing. If a gobbler see's a jake in his territory sometimes he will come in and try to run him off. Now after saying that I have used a jake decoy that had a total opposite effect. I have called in a gobbler that came in strutting and once he saw the jake decoy he broke strut and was acting real passive. He was a good bird too, he had 1 1/8" spurs. Sometimes they are not in the mood to fight. Hope this helps. God Bless

Re: Okies....hearing gobbles yet? I was in Ok. for a contest this past weekend and my buddy took me driving around and we saw lots of birds, but they were still in big flocks. We did see a flock of gobblers and did get one to gobble, but that was after hitting them a few times with some hard calling. God Bless

Re: Question, please answer When I first started turkey hunting and attended seminars I wished they did more on turkey calling. How to use the mouth call, what words you are mouthing to make a certain call, yelp, cutt and so on. Thats what I wished they did more of. Hope this helps. Good luck with your seminar. God Bless.

Re: Diaphragm call care I usually rinse mine off with cool tap water, stick tooth picks in between the reeds and let them air dry for a couple days and then store them in the frig. with the tooth picks still in between the reeds. God Bless

Re: Need some good turkey hunting advice First I want to say that Readbeard, you a freakin funny guy LOL LOL LOL!!!!! The best thing you can do is hook up with a veteran turkey hunter/caller and go hunting with him. You will learn more and more quickly the do's and dont's of turkey hunting hands on than you will going by yourself. Reading magazines will help and watching some videos is definetley a plus especially if it is some what of a instructional tape and if it has footage of live hens calling. Hope this helps God Bless

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all. Remember, Jesus is the reason of the season God Bless

Re: DECOY ??? Luke I carry decoys every time I go out and do use them, but I am not convinced they are the reason I harvest a bird. I have had birds walk right by them and not pay attention to her, but I have had hens get pissed at her and start circling her and purring. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't, I think sometimes it depends on the bird's mood, but yes I would buy one. I use Flambuea feeding hen Hope this helps God Bless

Re: Learning Diaphram Calling Great advice so far. Like mentioned before the two reeded call will be the easiest to blow. Their are instructional tapes and CD's out their that will help you, but the best thing you can do is find a verteran caller and learn from him. And pratice, pratice, pratice!! Hope this helps. God Bless
