Alisha replied to TreeStandBowHunter's topic in Bowhunting
Re: Update on that 173 score buck from Hershey, PA Sounds like they were feeding those bucks hershey's chocolate instead of what they normally eat... I'd like to see pics! -

Re: My car will be ROCKIN\'!!!! 1500-2000 watts?! What size amp are you gonna be running? The first system I ever had in my Neon was 2 - 12" Kicker Comp VR's on an 800 watt Rockford Fosgate amp which pulled off a 143.3 on the db meter. That not being good enough, I upgraded to one of those square 15" Kicker L7 subs on a 1400 watt Cadence A7 amp which was TOO loud so I got rid of it after it managed to rattle everything loose in my car. Here's what I'm workin with now...! I didn't want to post the picture here because it's so huge so please click the link. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/neonhiyo/100_0478.jpg Anyway, congrats on the new system Shaun! Be sure to show me pics of it when you get it all set up!

Re: Ladies Ladies Ladies.... Whitetails are the only thing I think about this time of year! I can't wait to get out there on the 21st..

Re: I\'m puzzled by this.... [ QUOTE ] Have your food sources changed this year as opposed to last year, there may not be as many bucks this year due to lack of food? Just a thought. [/ QUOTE ] The mast here hasn't been very good the past few years..... and this year one ridge won't have any acorns, etc..... but the next one will. So you may have something there! We're allowed to hunt the property across the road from where my Dad and Uncle have been hunting but they are getting up in age and aren't able to walk into that area because it's too steep. I've hunted there in years past and have always seen deer so I'll have to make the treck up the mountain and see what's up. Thanks!

Re: Biggest mistake you made in your life....... I started dating a guy when I was 17... and I'm still dating him now that I'm 22. He doesn't hunt or fish.. 'nuff said.

Re: I\'m puzzled by this.... [ QUOTE ] Buck / Doe ratio???? How many does are there? Maybe there's no need to chase if they have that many to run..... [/ QUOTE ] There's never been a shortage of does...but never a whole lot of bucks, so you could be right in that aspect. Buuut it's always been that way and the bucks have always had rubs/scrapes there in the last 8 years I've hunted there.

Re: New Guy Welcome! You've been reading the forum since the summer, eh? Addicted yet?
-
Re: I\'m puzzled by this.... Texan.. the reason why there aren't many older bucks in the area is because the surrounding area is heavily hunted, but in previous years even the small bucks (4 points, spikes, etc) were chasing does.... but this year - nothing!

Re: Walk the Line. My boyfriend and I made a deal.........I'll go see Walk the Line ONLY if he goes to see Chicken Little with me and manages not to go to sleep! LOL! Secret is...... I like Johnny Cash.... Don't you guys just love us women? LOL!

Okay, I talked to my Dad on the phone last night and asked him how things were going up where we hunt. He's been up there since the middle of October and has only seen ONE rub and ONE scrape in the entire area which has been FULL of sign in previous years. They've seen lots of does with fawns and several small bucks but he said the bucks aren't chasing the does at all! Now...we just got permission to hunt some new property 30-40 minutes away from the location I'm talking about above. My Dad and Uncle checked the place out and said there are rubs and scrapes EVERYWHERE and the bucks are chasing the does like crazy! We've been having warm weather (in the mid 70's during the day) so could this have them screwed up? Like I said... the two locations are within 30 or so minutes of each other and have around the same temperature/same weather so I don't think this is a likely answer. I just can't understand why the bucks aren't chasing the does where we normally hunt but they're going nuts at this new location. Usually in that area the rut comes in at the end of October but according to Dad the bucks just don't seem interested at all. Are we dealing with a bunch of gay bucks on this paticular piece of property or what's going on? LOL Maybe someone can shed some light on this for me....

Re: A true story I'm with huntin girl on this one.... I'd definately make sure I contacted them by phone and if they hung up on me or gave me a snotty attitude, I'd make sure I sent them my sucess story in detail and sent pictures as well! There's absolutely no reason why they should have turned her down for a hunt! Not all women are prissy little things..... some of us are actually tough and don't care about breaking a nail or being elbow deep in guts.

Re: A friends pics Okay thanks...... I just think that the warm weather that Kanawha County gets really has the deer screwed up right now... cause this time of year it's usually in the 30's and 40's during the day but up there it's getting into the upper 60's and sometimes the low 70's. I hate to say, it but I really wish we'd get some cold weather. Anyway, don't mean to hijack your thread...... great pics!

Re: A friends pics Typical West Virginia buck...... big body with a small rack. What county did you take that buck in? My dad and I hunt in Kanawha County and so far my Dad says that the deer just haven't been moving..... like the rut hasn't even started yet. Was just wondering if the bucks were chasing does in the area you killed that deer.... considering you took that buck this year.

Re: I fell out of my climber...... [ QUOTE ] and all along i thought this is what i was supposed to do.........thanks for clearing that up..... [/ QUOTE ] You are such a smart aleck, ya know it?
-
Re: I fell out of my climber...... Oh yeah...... I'm glad you're okay! Coulda been worse......
-
Re: I fell out of my climber...... My dad says I'm a sissy for not wanting to try a climber.... but this right here is one of the many reasons why I don't want to try one. Scott - please try to actually kill a deer for our team before you kill yourself with that climber. LOL!!

Re: Format Change??? Mine too..... and I don't care much for it.....

Re: Super Size Me........ [ QUOTE ] Nah, we have our own language and accent in Indiana. Its way more cooler than your accent. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah right, you guys wish. And speaking of cooler..... I'm WAY cooler than both you and SRA put together. Back on topic fellas... don't hijack.
-
Re: Super Size Me........ Sounded like one? You betcha....! Go ahead and admit that you're envious of our accent!

Re: What\'s the best stuff for poison ivy?? [ QUOTE ] Alisha- Not that difficult. Leaves fall in your shirt, etc. Pulling down vines, you never know where you might get it. Plus, that is exposed skin. I usually don't hang stands in the nude.... [/ QUOTE ] So you USUALLY don't hang stands in the nude.... but you didn't say you've NEVER done it that way. I'll be good now...... promise. Uh....I hope your poison ivy gets better soon.

Re: Super Size Me........ The guy who made that film is from West Virginia... and it actually played in a theater around here for a few days but I never went to see it. After working at McDonalds when I was 16...... I still can't stand to eat anything there but their salads. I actually LOST weight when I worked there cause the smell of the food cooking was enough to make me sick.
