Women Hunters: Are they welcomed into your group?
Alisha replied to buckee's topic in Women & Hunting
Re: Women Hunters: Are they welcomed into your gro I've always gone hunting with my Dad, his brother, cousins husband and his brothers - all of which have been very supportive with me hunting. I still get picked on over certain things like wearing my earrings during deer season (They can't see them cause I wear a face mask - so why not! LOL ) or bringing along everything but the kitchen sink in my backpack. All in all though, I have gotten nothing but a positive reaction from men when I tell them I hunt/fish. Most act surprised at first but then the questions start pouring out.... -

Re: Caught a tresspasser I hope you find out who the guy is. Hopefully the moron didn't take any pop shots at the deer (or anything else for that matter!) you've been getting pictures of! GRRRR stuff like this makes me sooooooooooo mad! I'm assuming these pics were taken when you were gone on vacation?

I wasn't sure where to post this...... so if it's in the wrong place I apologize. Just figured I'd post a few of my favorites! This place absolutely blew me away... I was just in total shock from the moment I stepped in the front door.

Re: Thank you Tim Andrus............. Tim may have put it all together, but without you helping keep this place up and running, we wouldn't be here. So, for that we thank you.... Hope to meet ya next year!

Re: Christmas tree farmin\'..... Oh by the way....... in the first pic....... I'd like that green one....... in the back to the right of those two smaller ones..... ya know which one I'm talking about, don't ya?
-
Re: Christmas tree farmin\'..... If you need any extra lights or ornaments I think my mom can hook ya up. LOL! Great looking trees ya have there! They look quite a bit better than the ones mom and I saw on the Christmas Tree farm we passed by in Ohio on the way to Cabelas! I guess the lack of rain there has really hurt the growth of them? Oh, and this has nothing to do with your trees, but I figured I would mention how bad the roads suck in Ohio....

Re: Thank you Tim Andrus............. I finally got home around 7:30 last night..... with more traffic on the road it took a bit more time to get back home. 4 HOURS. First - I want to thank Tim for showing up... it was a pleasure to meet you! You're one heck of a nice guy and like everyone else said, Realtree is VERY lucky to have you. Joining you for lunch was an awesome experience... listening to your stories and such. Only thing that was missing was a campfire, and marshmallows for all! Scott - Thank you so much for lunch... the food was excellent! My mother wanted me to thank you for her meal... she was in total shock of this kind act. Thanks again. I had a complete blast at Cabelas..... and like I told Strut10 - that place makes me want to move up there. LOL It was fun chatting with everyone but I felt like we needed more time to shoot the breeze! I would have hung around and talked more but I was distracted by everything there was to look at! I hope to make a trip up there again before fall but I absolutely refuse to drive up there in that neon of mine again. My back was KILLING me when I got home. Sounds like you fellas made it out of there pretty cheap..... seeing as how I spent almost $300..... I'll post pics soon of what I bought. Anyhow, it was great meeting everyone... and I hope we can do it sometime again VERY soon!

Re: Met Michael Waddell today *sighs* Can't say I blame your wife for being mad.

Re: Trouble with the new dodge All the electronic mumbo-jumbo on all the "new new" vehicles keeps me from getting rid of my '98 neon which has had NO problems at all (knock on wood) and it almost has 100,000 miles on it! Just yesterday, my coworker said her daughter had to take her 2005 Chevy Colorado in for service on the steering - and the truck doesn't even have 1000 miles on it yet! Talk about being mad...... ooh boy, I'd be HOT. Good luck with getting your durango fixed!

Re: BUCKS, BUCKS, AND MORE BUCKS!!! Great looking bucks! You definately have a decision to make before fall! Originally before the picture loaded for me and you mentioned the lump on his shoulder I was going to suggest a warble.... but that's MUCH much much too big to be one. Birth defect? Hit by car in the past? Swelling from a previous injury? Could be anything.

Re: How many of you ladies... Thanks 7th and Linda! 7th - if I happen to see you up at Cabelas, please point me in the direction of these socks! I definately need some! Linda - I'll have to look into those boots you suggested.... as well as the booties. I've seen them before but never tried them. ANYTHING to keep my feet warm.

Re: How many of you ladies... I've always wore mens camo... although I'm seriously thinking about buying all new camo in womens sizes this year. I don't mind the camo in mens sizes except for the fact that certain areas are way too baggy on me - which I think is the reason why I tend to get cold on chilly days. I DEFINATELY need to buy new boots this year though - in womens size. Suggestions? My feet FREEZE every year because of my sock/boot selection. One of these years I'll smarten up. lol.

Re: Gas prices, you think yours are bad.... $2.55 $2.62 and $2.69 here.......

Re: What are you doing this weekend today - running a few errands... picking up a couple more fish for my 20 gallon tank tomorrow - maybe entering my car into a local car show Sunday - going to the state fair! soooo exciting.

Re: head count for lunch in West Virgina Cabela\'s I'll be there on Saturday. I hope to be there sometime between 10 and 11. I think it's about a 4 hour drive up there so I'll have to leave pretty early. I'll be driving the neon and for those of you that know what it looks like...... you can't miss it. I can't wait! This is my first ever visit to the store.

Re: Who has seen Dukes of Hazzard? I failed to mention that I have a "dukes of hazzard" wallpaper on my desktop with the General Lee and Sean William Scott. boy I'd like to get ahold of that General Lee..... Mopar baby..... YEAH! vrooooooom.

Re: Makin a name for ourselves Again, welcome outdoorwimom! It's great to have more females on the forum! Too much testosterone floating around. LOL Anyway, up until last year, I was shooting a .243 but last fall I started taking a .270 and I prefer it over the .243 BIG time! I killed 3 deer with the .243 but never once did the bullet go all the way through the deer.... unlike the .270 which puts a hurtin' on em! You said that you have experience in small game but you didn't specify what all you've actually hunted! I'm (along with everyone else, I'm sure!) looking forward to hearing some of your stories.

Re: Who has seen Dukes of Hazzard? I LOVED it! Went to see it on Saturday.... and was tempted to go see it again on Sunday. LOL I laughed until I almost cried a few times! Great movie!
