  1. Awesome!! Great picture...that smile says it all. Your write up of the account was great as well. I hope that is the first of many more to come for you.
  2. I don't personally own a crossbow, but both my dad and older brother do. My brothers is a really expensive Ten Point crossbow and it is fast, but it's loud and pretty heavy. My dad just got a Barnett C5 Wildcat, and it seems to be a really nice crossbow and was around $360 for the package. He shot his first deer with it last season at about 20 yards. He shot a young buck square in the front shoulder blade and it went out the opposite shoulder blade. I was impressed with the punch it had to blow through both shoulders. Anyway...good luck with whatever you end up with.....have fun, be safe.
  3. Beautiful buck and great mount. Congrats.
  4. I've used decoys (carry-lite buck) on several occasions, love using it while rattling and calling during the end of October and first of November. I've shot a few bucks that I can tell you I wouldn't have gotten had it not been for the decoy. Last year I had the decoy up, was rattling along a river bottom and notice a big 8 point about 80 yards away. He would not come in to my rattling and calling, but he was just locked up looking at that decoy. I gave him a snort wheeze with my mouth and here he came!!! Would have been a great story had I not missed underneath him!! I love decoying though.
  5. Looks great! That is one impressive 6 point!
  6. Those look great!! Thanks for posting.
  7. I like it alot. Congrats on a great buck and a nice mount.
  8. Looks very good. Nice job!
  9. See the link, I think it will be insightful. http://www.prairiestateoutdoors.com/index.php?/hunting/stories If you look at that list of non-typicals, the #1 was a crossbow kill (Bryant buck) #2, #3 were shotgun kills, and the #4 (Jones buck 267 1/8") was killed with a compound bow. So technically, the biggest buck killed with a "bow" in Illinois is a 267 1/8". No matter the score that bruiser this guy killed is unreal! Congrats to him for sure.
  10. Nice bucks, nice euros. Congrats.
  11. Nice bucks....congrats. I would agree that I like the real skull better, but it looks nice on that wall.
  12. Very nice mounts....both of them. I also like the doe mount. I think that is a nice addition as well.
  13. I just do a boil and scrape process and then whiten with a Hydrogen Peroxide Volume 40 and Magnesium Carbonate mixed into a paintable paste. I then paint it on with a brush and let it sit in sunlight for a day or two. Clean that off and if needed...I might do it one more time. That usually does the trick.
  14. Those both look very nice. What color stain did you have to use? That looks pretty natural.
  15. That is a nice looking euro. Nice job.
  16. I finally finished the last euro mount that I had to do from last season. This is number 6 and this one is mine. 9 point bow kill from Illinois. I'm glad to be done with them from this past season, but looking forward to doing some more in about 6 months or so ;-)
  17. Very nice mounts. I don't know much about Antelope.....but is that thing enormous or is it just me?! That bracket looks pretty cool. I will check out your site.
  18. Love the base you made with the other antlers.....that is really cool! Nice job.
  19. I finished this euro mount for my dad. This was his Illinois shotgun kill from this season.
  20. I finished two euros for a buddy of mine. The buck in the middle is the one I did for him last year, the ones on either side of that are from this bow season.
  21. Looking nice Eric! Thanks for the pics.
  22. Great pictures! Thanks for posting them.
  23. Took this picture of an albino doe a few night ago. She looks like she is ready to pop anytime now with those fawns.
