What keeps you motivated and keeps you hunting??
Hoosierbuck replied to Casey's topic in Physically Challenged Sportsmen
Hey- I just talked to Norm and he wanted me to let you all know that his heart checked out OK. They don't know what gave him his fit, but it wasn't the ticker. He sounded good and in good spirits, and he is getting to go home today. He said he asked the doctor point blank if this was going to interfere with his Alaska trip and the doc said not in the least. Happy to be a messenger of good news- HB -
Good form, cb. Thank you for your efforts. HB

I have iTunes, also. Of course, I have an Apple computer, too so it came with it. HB

Correction I corrected the name of the company that owned Knight Rifles.

Bonding is a process by which the jacket and bullet are adhered together. Less separation of jacket and bullet should equal greater weight retention and better penetration. HB

I hear you, bud. Then we shall punish them by not buying stuff that they are not losing money on! HAHA, we will have the last laugh! A side note on horse trading...I just agreed to trade that $320 Ruger (still unfired!) and 2 bills for a like-new Beretta AL391 Gold. CHA CHING! HB

Maybe the gun counter manager does not have the authority, maybe you have to talk to the store manager. Then again, maybe they just flat won't deal with you (not you in the singular, William, just in general). If you show them the money, it is hard for them to let you walk away with it, knowing they will eventually mark it down again if it does not sell. Maybe you can find a spot of rust where it was handled, or show them some "flaw" to help them justify the reduction, too. A scratch in the metal or anything might be enough. HB

Another OTPG LoudnB00mer added to my safe!!

I don't have it in a Savage, but I do have it in a Win. Model 70. That thing shoots very well. You're going to like it. HB -
One time our WM had a rifle on clearance for $390. I pulled out a business card and wrote "$320 cash" on the back and asked the desk clerk to give that to his manager and call me later. I went back that afternoon and got that Stainless Ruger .270 for $320 cash. They will deal on clearance items, give it a go! HB

You guys bad mouthing Knight quality are, IMHO, talking out your posteriors. I have several and all are shooters. But then again, what would I know, I just go hunt and kill things with them, I am no internet expert. I have an Encore PH 50 ML barrel, but it's been in the clam pack for two years. I got a deal on it, but I don't need it. The Knight hunts. The parent company that bought Knight from Tony- EABCo. will stand by the warranty and provide parts and service according to their statement. HB

Mark- When I was out there earlier this spring they had them at $390. Good deal on waiting for the markdown. Lots of good suggestions, but the GC wins the day. HB

Cutie pies, for sure. Maybe we can arrange a marriage or two. I am feeling pretty good about pulling off a mixed bag-one girl (7) and two boys (5) & (2). HB

Well here it is, What $450 will get you if you look
Hoosierbuck replied to MichiganHunter's topic in Hand Guns & Accessories
Looks very much like my Super Blackhawk. I loved the look of the stainless steel and unfluted cylinder. Congratualtions on the new .44! HB -
I use grease from Knight and TC, although I know some guys swear by teflon tape, too. HB

Glad to hear dad is doing better. Truth be told, he probably never will have any memory of the wreck, thus there is no disincentive to get back on two wheels. In his mind there may never be a true connection between the bike and the injuries. The human brain is funny with the walls it puts up sometimes. In any event, it really is great to hear that he is improving so much. HB

Ummm, yeah. That is a bummer. I lock everything, all the time. Of course with my job, I am constantly reminded of all the pukes around even in a nice little town. HB

Birthday wishes to you, sir! HB

Best job I ever had was being a mover. We worked for a moving company (Graebel Van Lines). They had a local shop that coordinated moves for commercial and residential. Residential was the best. They give you an address, you show up when you are told, and either load or unload a truck. We made great money for several reasons: we were young and strong, we showed up on time. We were sober and didn't smell of booze, and we flat out hustled. This is back in the late 80's and early 90's, and were were bringing home $100-140 cash every day. We were a two man crew that had truckers asking for us by name in a few week's time. Had a lot of fun with my buddy Todd. HB

what do you see while purchasing your rifles???
Hoosierbuck replied to bobdawson's topic in Rifles & Accessories
Agreed about needing more information to make a pertinent recommendation to you, sir. As far as other general brands of hunting rifles, WTNHUNT has named off my personal faves already, but I would add that I have heard really good things about Tikka and Sako, as well. Please give us additional information and we will give you several different, equally correct, answers to your question! (Hunters and gun nuts often have very strong opinions on matters of weapon and caliber, they vary widely, and most have some merit to consider.) HB -
Check out this page to read the article and vote. Clearly they were anticipating a big fat "NO!" to states loosening gun regualtions, but that is not what they are getting-88% stating yes, so far. Get your 2 cents in... http://www.parade.com/news/intelligence-report/archive/despite-recent-violence-gun-laws-are-softening.html HB

Sexual abuse cases are very hard to prove at trial, especailly when it's based on the victim's uncorroborrated testimony. Many times those type of cases don't even get filed since they are so tough to prove. The flip side of this is that there are false accusations made, and that happens with some regularity, too. Without corroborrating evidence, it is difficult to distinguish between the no evidence/did happen and no evidence/false accusations. Unfortuantely, that is where I find myself, categorizing into those classes plus the next level-(I think it happened, but I can't possibly prove it so I do not authorize charges) and (I think it happened, and I could possibly prove it, but I'll likely get beat at trial so I file it anyway). I appreciate you stepping up to toe the line. Put your heart into it, and do your best. HB

I do not think that is good advice. No matter how "taken apart" a gun is, the piece with the serial number is the piece that, even without all the rest, is a "firearm". If you ship that improperly, the G men may be paying you a visit. After the G men pay you a visit, you can hope your family will pay you a visit, on Tuesdays between 1:30 and 4:30 at the federal penitentiary of the government's choice. Play it safe, don't look for loopholes. That ATF website is very good-tons of info there. HB

"If if's and but were candy and nuts. what a wonderful Christmas we'd have" Sorry OJR, that's what popped into my head... Sweet pics and nice ride on a good trail. My 5 y.o. was pleased to see you wearing the helmet. Thanks for reinforcing that for me. HB
