  7. Re: Should I get a Pendulum or stick with my fixed i prefer a fixed pin sight
  8. I have heard from a couple of people that when there is a rising moon between 1 and 5 p.m. in early october will get the deer up and moving a lot earlier and possibly get the bucks up moving in the day....and also when there is a falling moon to hunt your best stands in the morning and the deer move best through the first 2 to 3 hours of daylight....any opinion on this???
  9. Re: When is the BEST time to rattle?? In Illinois i usually wait until the end of October into the first week or two of November....sometimes in late October if there is a high pressure front moving in the drops the temperature to 35-40 degrees it kicks the bucks into the mood and is the ideal time to hunt....especially if it is a rising or falling moon....
  10. Re: How many hunters on a 40 acre piece of land i agree on the 2 to 3 max but i wouldnt go any more than 2...
  11. Re: Illinois public land shawnee national forest is a good place to hunt whitetails...also if you are ever interested in turkey hunting it is a good place to go....

  14. Re: Okay First Day good luck man....be the first hen he heres off the roost and be the first one he encounters then blast em'. lol i wish it could work like that every time....good luck
  15. Re: Got a Question! turkeys are lazy birds they dont like to cross ravines...big ditches...rivers and deep creeks etc. so that may be the reason they arent there...its the same with my g-mas land you can sit and watch the birds on the other side of the river and the habitat is the exact same sooo im not sure what they are thinking....
  16. Re: 1st timer 1. Fully camoed with a face mask is definately a have-to....2. decoys (I usually have a hen with a jake decoy and sometimes a jake in strut tail....had a lot of luck with that) 3. I prefer Remington Nitro Mag 3" number 4 shot....4. A slate and box call for windy days...but my favorite is my mouth call...i use the raspy old hen from H.S. Strut....I also have to have a crow call to locate the shy birds.....hard to hunt them if you dont know where they are.....thats just my opinion on things....ive only hunted one year now and got a good gobbler... but ive paid really close attention to their actions and behavior..
  17. Re: Food Plots I have purchased a hand pH tester and it was testing around 6.7 2 years ago and i used 20-20-0 fertilizer on my bio-logic and it turned out awesome....and last year it tested about 5.9 so i put lime on it and i couldnt believe the difference...i went from seeing maybe 5-6 deer a night to about 15-30 a night in a 2 acre plot......thanks guys just wanted to see your opinions.....

  21. Here's the thing...I have been bowhunting for three years now and I'm only 17 and I've never really "tuned" my bow....i just have gotten it sighted in....i can hit where i want but sometimes my arrows wobble and i just dont know how to fix it....if you could also give me any other suggestions on other "tunning" tips that would be great....thanks
  22. Re: Rocky Mountain Broadheads on my primos hunting videos Brad Ferris shoots the rocky mountain snypers and its amazing at how well they fly and they leave a deadly hole....no problems tracking a blood trail...
  23. Re: best broadheads? definately have to go with the 100 gr. muzzy 3-blades....
  24. Re: Would you rather bowhunt or gun hunt I think ill agree with the majority of the people and say bow....wouldnt you rather kill a monster buck and say you killed it with a bow rather than a rifle at 2348320498 yards....lol i know i would.....bow all the way....
  25. Re: illinois deer classic another place to look at if ya'll are interested is Gallatin Bottoms in Gallatin County, Illinois....their site is http://www.gallatinbottoms.com and they have some price to pay but it is well worth the world-class whitetails that they hold....they are also a bow hunt only outfitter....they have harvested a 2345/8 inch buck and a 236 inch buck both net scoring....they are truely a place to go if you want a buck of a lifetime.....
