i switched from using mono to using power pro ice 2 years ago and man what a difference, power pro ice repels the water much better causing the rod tips to collect less water and not to freeze up if you are not fishing in a shanty, power pro ice is all i use now

im looking at some of haye's calls like always, hes got some new ones out that i want, but dont need them at all, but its always tempting to get some new calls
-
never shot that stuff, prolly never will shoot any of that fancy new duck loads, but i would say you would prolly have to pattern it yourself and see how it performs, cause every shell patterns different out of every gun, me and a buddy have the same exact guns, bought them same place same time, mine patterns winchester dryloks, supremes and experts awesome, his gun doesnt pattern winchester as good as mine, i would say get out there and pattern it yourself, would hate to pattern those expensive shells but id suggest it

HELP!!!! Taking two new goose hunters out this year!
DU_man_84 replied to drkillemquick's topic in Waterfowling
you cant tell someone how to lead waterfowl, leading any kind of bird is a natural instinct, every situation is different, sometimes no lead is required sometimes lots of lead is required, its almost something you need to learn on your own, they just need to remember always follow through after the shot, most people like to use the 3 b's on waterfowl, butt, belly, beak, fire this is something their just gonna have to get use too -
great clip, i would love to see that aired

this is a link to sign a petition against our lovely governor closing down many state parks and historical sites in illinois, some of these parks are where i use the boat landing to do almost all of my waterfowl hunting and now im not gonna have access and all people wont be able to enjoy these great places, i know this is been on here before about the parks closing but it would help out if we can get some signatures on this petition, anybody from illinois please sign it, i guess the out of stater's can too but i dont know how well that will work signing a petition for a state you dont live in but i guess anything can help, thank you everyone http://www.gopetition.com/online/21603.html

i buy from this guy www.hayescalls.com, only calls i use he has some calls that are around 35 bucks, he just redid his site, he has all kinds of custom calls he makes, his site only has a few, he has a lot of wood/poly calls for like 35 bucks that sound awesome and never hang up, and his acrylic calls are sweet, if you have the funds i would recommend acrylic, hayes has great calls and great customer service, im sure you can email and he can get some more info on other calls he makes, i know him personally he is a great guy to deal with

im gonna head up to cabelas this weekend and i was gonna get a killerweed kit for my boat, but 5lb kit for 69 bucks that people say doesnt even cover your boat, so im thinking about getting the cabelas prairie grass 10lb kit for for like 54 bucks i think, but its all natural grass colored, i am just wondering if i want to paint it can i just use spray paint or do i need to dye it, this is my first year of a homemade boat blind so this is all kind of new to me
-
dont have my setup done yet, just got the frame built a few weeks ago out of conduit, going up to cabelas this weekend to get camosystems netting and a killerweed boat blind kit, then she will be done, it aint gonna be like hunting out of my buddies quickset, but its gonna be pretty nice

they just approved the dates and limits here in illinois tuesday, and we have got moved up to 3 wood ducks allowed in daily limit, the numbers this year are way up, im still not sure on the whole mississippi flyway but i wouldnt doubt it with the numbers this year, and yes this year we get a 5 goose limit for early season instead of 2, its gonna be awesome
-
i know here in illinois they proposed the dates but not have been approved yet, but 3 wood ducks is in there the population is way up i guess, but not gonna be able to shoot canvasbacks or scaups here, numbers are way down, and also we might be able to shoot 5 geese early season possibly, nothing yet has been approved though here at least, it will be out shortly though

thats right the very first step is get out with someone who knows what there doing, like birdhunter said, a friend who does it or a guide, thats your starting point, then if you like the sport, and trust me you will, watch out though it gets very addictive, try and get out with friends whenever ya can for the first year, learn some of their ways, get some waterfowl videos, instructional videos, i would say your first year spend time learning the sport, learn what ever you can, than after that then you can go out and starting buying calls, decoys, all the goodies, but watch out it gets very expensive, duck hunting is a sport you can learn something new everytime you go out, your gonna learn how the birds want to act differently almost each and everyday, just learn the sport and have the chance to experience it before you go out and blow all your money on a sport you might not like, or not knowing what your doing, which might cause you to give up on the sport, learn as much as you can, any questions just ask
