Life has kept me from the woods. The handful of times I've been out have been eventless. Haven't seen many does and no good bucks. Just a handful of small bucks. I'm on vacation all next week leading up to our gun season. They've got to start moving. But there's a ton of pressure on them around me.

Nice job Hoosier! We need to start putting some points on the board. Time just hasn't been on my side for getting in the woods. Hopefully this weekend I can bag a doe for 5 points and some tender loins.

I passed on a handfull of small bucks this weekend. Only saw one nice doe and she saw me first. When the woods are still so thick its easy for them to sneek up on you.

I'm impatiently waiting for our opener this saturday. It actually looks like the weather is going to cooperate too. High is supposed to be 60. Which typically is unheard of for early bow season in So IL. Trail cam has had some does, fawns, and one mediocre 8 ptr. But nothing too consistant. There are a lot of acorns dropping already so I think the deer are just meandering and not sticking to any particular trails.

Hey guys, checking in. I've been out a couple times scouting the last two weeks, our property is the looking the best it has in years. Not a lot of big buck sign, but around me they usually hide out until a little later in the season. I'm usually good for a couple of does early in the season, then i'll look for a buck. Going out to check the camera tonight. Any name is good for me. Good luck.

No luck this weekend. Saw a handful of does but other wise was too hot.

Smitteken Team 8 Venison Vampires Doe

Well, I got off work early yesterday, rushed home, bought my tags, showered, and threw all of my stuff in my truck to head out to one of my stands. Sat down about 4:30 and had this one and her fawn come in about 5:50. They hung out about 50 yds out for a while then creeped through my 30 yd lane. Thats when the rage made contact. (I know my sig says Muzzy but I switched last year) Blood trailing wasn't really easy given the woods were so thick, her last 10 steps or so were pretty gorey. She weighed 103 field dressed. So, 5 pts for us. :rock:

Welcome! Alright folks let's start putting some points on the board. I'll get in the woods next weekend. I'm taking a few days off and should be able to put at least 5 on the board for us. But don't be worried if I go MIA for a while. I'm going on an elk hunt in CO the latter part of October. I'll check in from time to time to update my progress and see what everyone is up to. Thanks Kat. First of all, if you are all serious you've got way too much time on your hands, trying to find away around not losing a contest that is strictly for fun. There are no prizes other than bragging rights. So if you want to brag based on winning on a techicality because my dig camera was having a bad day then go for it. It'll be my last year in this contest. It is a 2nd season head tag. With my name, permit number, year, and hunt area. It doesn't have a confirmation #, but the head tag is only required to be used and have a confirmation number recorded if you are taking the deer to a taxidermist. I didn't. I'm in the process of doing a European mount. The leg tag that has the confirmation # is with the meat waiting to be processed. Sure i can drive to our farm and get it or a picture of it, but thats sounds more like a hassle not FUN like this contest is supposed to be. I wasn't dropping in much during the Crazylegs saga so maybe i'm not attuned to sniffing out cheaters. IMO if you want to cheat to win a friendly contest than knock your socks off you've got too much time on your hands. If this was all in a joking manner than I apologize for the rant. Geez, I thought this was for fun.

Sorry i've been out for a while boys. I bagged my fourth of the year thursday morning. A nice 8. So far i've got 3 does with the bow and this 8 with the gun. I'll get it entered soon. Congrats to everyone else. I think we're kicking butt.

I had the 3 arm EZ hanger and it worked for about a season. eventually it broke. I didn't like it much. the pivots were always loosening and squeaking. Now I have the 2 arm Gorilla, i really like it. Used it for 2 full seasons with no noticeable wear and tear.

Once Tedicast and I get our latest kills entered we'll be putting the pressure on the other teams:flex::boxing::whip:

Great buck tedicast!! I got another doe lastnight. I got better pics on her than my first one, so i'll probably go ahead and enter her when I get a chance. Haven't been seeing many bucks tho. Kind of getting frustrated.
