Lets hear a little chatter in here. We've been on the bottom of the list for 2 or 3 days. I've got a lot of work to do this weekend to get my stuff ready for monday. I've been working way too much this month. I've only shot a few times, as compared to last year I shot everday from august 1 to the opener. The times I have shot I've been fine so I'm not worried about that aspect. I just need to get all my ducks in row gear wise. I've got Friday, Saturday, Sunday off so I've got my work cut out for me. Hopefully the weather cools off to, I hate sweating in the deerstand.

IMO fixed blades are more easily resharpened and easier to replace blades, let alone more reliable. I bought some spitfires a few years ago and shot them in practice and the blades were breaking in a foam target. The replacement blades are expensive and a pain in the butt. So I went to muzzys and never looked back.

Southern IL has nothin. Our woods are filled with white and red oaks, but I've only found two total trees that had any to speak of, and they were a shingle oak and a pin oak.

Hi all. Checking in. Bow season opens on Oct 1 here, I can't wait. I've got a couple weekend trips planned to the shawnee, and I'm taking nearly all of November for vacation. I shouldn't have a problem whacking a couple. I've also got a shotgun tag for Crab Orchard Refuge, there I've got the possibility to bag a really nice buck. Good luck all. Team Freaknasty is cool wit me.

i make mine by swiping my debit card at Rural King.

It really depends on where you hit the deer. if you have a low exit you'll have a good blood trail. I've shot thunderheads and now shoot muzzys, but I've never really gotten a fantastic blood trail because when you hit them where you're supposed too, they go on a death run and croak before their chest cavity fills up enough with blood to really bleed. But you you roll them over its like turning on the faucet. IMO if you want a better blood trail go to a larger diameter BH. the MX-3 I believe is 1 1/4 inch. good luck.

I know what you 're going through. Mine will be final Sept 20. We were only married a short time, but it still hurts because of the situation and the years we spent together before. I feel I was dooped the entire time and they were a waste. I know I'm better off, I'm sure you are too. Hang in there. I plan on putting my frustrations into lowering the local deer population.

Sorry but I've had bad flight with the thunderhead. I've killed deer with them and they are very tough, but they are hard to spin test and tune. Then I switched to spitfires and didn't care a bit for them. I'm a fixed blade guy. So I had a friend talk me into the Muzzy 3 blades. They are tough, inexpensive, readily available, easy to tune, easy to change blades I'll stick with these for a while. One day I would like to give the slick tricks a whirl. I also have a sonic pro in my quiver for other vermin, like they say they are sharp as heck and fly just like field points.

The biggest deer hunter I know is about 6' 4" 300 + he hunts out of the loggy bayou mega transformer. The summit goliath is a sweet stand too. Good luck, be safe...

My buddy just bought the Rhino yesterday, its pretty nice. But I'm still a 4-wheeler guy. Take a look at Can-Am they've got a fantastic engine, and Field and Stream gave them a really good review compared to the other top brands.

Nice kill. You should tan that hide. It would make a nice rug, to fend off any antis.

i've never even bothered to look at my level.

I think the late frost hammered our acorns. The last two years have been a bumper crop, but the trees this year are bare. Its going to make early season kind of tricky. I guess I'll concentrate on crop fields and staging areas.

Bottom line the guy is an amazing athelete, and a great comeback story. There is no hard evidence that he broke any rules so give him the benefit of the doubt.

BFGs are awesome tires that have fantastic wear. But they are pricey. And its nice to go with the all-terrain for a little extra grip in wet conditions. Mach 1, You shouldn't have a problem with the 265s. I had a 97 F-150 that I put 275's on and had no problems. It did mess up my speedometer a little but you can get that re-calibrated if you have to.

Muzzy fans, you gonna take the MX-3 challenge??
Smitteken replied to Hillbilly's topic in Bowhunting
My better judgement is saying stick with what works, Muzzy 3 blade 100s. But curiosity may get the best out of me. My brother has a new pack of MX-4s that he won't be using, so I've considered snaking them and giving them a whirl, along with the MX-3s. But you can't beat the affordability and toughness of the the originals. -
I've shot GTs that I really liked, but last year I switched to Arrow Dynamics, Nitro stingers. I gained some speed and penetration do to their tapered design. Only problem is not many places carry them.

Well I'm thinking about buying a new truck. Through my workplace I am eligible for the Ford X-plan, which means I can get the vehicle for 4% over the dealer net invoice. Now how do I go about it. I feel like if I tell them right away i have the x-plan they are going to swindle me regardless. Or is it even worth it, b/c right now you can get pretty good deals on the 2007 models. Is there anywhere i could find, or anyone who has an idea of the mark up over the dealer invoice? Has anyone used a discount of this sort? Any help is appreciated.

Re: Copper John Sights. Are their pins bright? Not happy with the brightness of mine, I will be switching before next season.

Re: Smoked Venison roast? I posted my how to in the lounge.

Re: smoked venison roast? Marinate it in milk and worcestishire sauce over night, or at least for a few hours. Rinse it and pat dry. Then rub the outside with garlic powder, black pepper, salt, and what ever kind of seasoning you want. Then wrap bacon all around it, holding it in place with tooth picks. then i make a small pan out of foil to collect the juices as its cooking. I usually do mine on a weber grill but it'll work just the same on the smoker. I use indirect heat for about a half hour to an hour to let the smoke soak into the meat, then I put it right over the fire for a few minutes on each side to cook it a little quicker. At this point it should be about medium rare to medium, I wouldn't cook it any longer or it'll get dry. Then use the drippings in the foil to dip it in. Good stuff trust me, my wife loves it and she's not very outdoorsy .

I just saw a post by ALAN and had a new Muzzy sig. I remember he was asking about broadheads a while back and there were a handfull of us wooing him on Muzzy's. It looks like we got a date to the prom. Welcome to the club ALAN!
