Re: Went looking last night Some day i'll try the mathews. People say its all hype, but guys i know that have them swear by them. I shoot a browning thats about 3 yrs old, and have had any problems with it. Before that i shot an old PSE Thunderbolt, I mean like 15 years old. I've taught myself to shoot good with everthing I've ever had. With the right equipment I could be a tack driver. It seems to be the consensus that the Switchback is sweet. You've definetly sparked my interest!

Re: The Most Misses ever in a season? I usually won't take a shot unless i am 100 % sure it'll be a kill. But this year i was so dumb founded when i miss the easiest shot ever presented to me. I had passed on small deer all season, but i finally decided to take a small 5 ptr. I had him at 10 yds broadside, when i drew back my arrow fell off the string. so i let off renocked drew again... by then he was about 15 yds. So i put the pin on him and released. He jumped and ran about 20 yards. I was waiting for him to fall but no dice. I missed. It was one of those invisible branches. I wasn't that beat up over it considering it wasn't a trophy, oh well he'll be bigger this year.

Re: Any one from West Central Illinois? I live about 35 miles southeast of St. Louis in New Athens, right on the Kaskaskia River. I hunt St. Clair and Monroe counties. I can't really complain about our deer. I usually get a couple looks at good bucks each year, despite the hunting pressure. with a little effort into management our population is growing from year to year. I applied for a second season permit for Crab Orchard this year.

Re: Deer\'s Eyes There was an article in the last Field and Stream about what deer can and cannot see. I remember that blue was one of the colors they see the best. If i were you I'd check out their website to find the article. I've also had deer come right to me when wearing all colors of clothing. but they were all very young fawns and year and a half bucks. Not because they cant see you, but because they're too dumb to realize what is going on.

Re: new to the game Go to your bow shop and find out if they have any bows from last years models. chances are they may have a couple and will cut you a deal. I did that a couple years ago and bought a browning ArroStar. I got the bow had him switch over my sights and rest, and had him throw in a half doz. arrows for 250 bucks. I still have the bow and am tickled to death with it. All in all i feel like i got a heck of a deal.
