This is a spin off of the classifieds for the GTs. I shoot 2315 aluminums right now at 70 lbs of draw. i've been pondering going to carbons for speed and reliability. what size carbon would be best for me? what would be the best rest to go to if I decide to go with them? thanks to all who reply

Re: Pasin\' it on....great deal on GT arrows I'm not a carbon shooter but have been considering them. Right now i shoot 2315 eastons, pulling 70 lbs. Would the 5575 work for me? Will i have to get a new rest?

Re: QDM I'm with you Horst, shotgunners for the most part are just blasting away. Bowhunters are there because they love every aspect of the outdoors, love the challenge and tend to be more selective.

Re: QDM I and the other guys I hunt with started a program about 5 years ago. We hunt about 300 acres of farm and bottomland in Southern IL. we have always had a great herd with a handfull of nice bucks. But it was only about every 5 years a wallhanger was killed. We cut down on yearlings at first, and nailed any doe we could. there were critics at first and still are, but we consistantly nice deer every year and have had wallhangers the last 3 years. We've even reached around us to others that hunt adjoining land and have had some cooperation. Like always there are critics still. These guys still shoot everything they see, but have since benefitted from our program. So with this we have urged them to be more selective, but they refuse to, saying that the quality of the herd isn't due to our efforts. which is BS. But every little bit helps. If only 10% of the ones i pass up live thats more for next year.

Re: Vermont Bans Harvest of Spike Bucks People are going to gripe about this now, but in 5 years they are going to thank the DNR. But next season when all the spikes have reached 2.5 years the majority of bucks will be those. This will also give the DNR a chance to realize what the determining factor is for the spikes. Like mentioned earlier it is probably the habitat over genetics. If there is poor nutrition in the area it is possible these deer will never get better than a glorified basket rack. In talking to someone that has bred deer for a number of years he insists rack size is reliant about 30% on genetics but 70% on what they eat. In my experiance anytime QDM is just getting started people gripe for a few years until they start seeing the results.

Re: Camera Modification ??? Thanks guys and gals, this is exactly the type of input and answers i needed. I think i'm going to buy a Sony P41, and the kit from pixcontroller. NOW...one more question. If i build one with the stuff from pixcontroller, will i be able to remove the camera easily and still take pictures? or will it be permanantly dedicated to the game cam? thanks again

I'm wanting to build a game cam preferably digital. But i came up with the idea of buying a cheaper 35mm game cam and converting it to a digital. I know there are posters that make their own cams, but has anyone converted a 35mm to a digital? Thanks to all who reply...

Re: Name One Thing I am a chemist for a very large pharmaceutical company. We make products that we sell for between $800-$3000 a gram, and still have a very hard time turning a profit. I may move to an area that profits about 50 mil a year from about 10 people, and I still won't make crap for a salary.

Re: Pre-calculus I wouldn't use the calculator. I figured stuff out much easier and it stuck in my mind when i did it the old fashioned way. There shouldn't be anything in Pre-Calc that can't be done with a pencil and a regular calculator. when i took those classes i taught my self from the book and went to help sessions to check my work. good luck

Re: Statistics help needed!!! Oh man. This is a class where i learned enough for the tests but as soon as the final was over it was erased forever or so i thought. I don't really know what type of data you are trying to represent. But i thought there was some way group that type of data into a "category" of sorts to where it would count the frequencies of each. I don't have excel on this computer so I can't really tinker with it. ANOVA= analysis of Variance= pain in the butt

I seem to have a lot of idle time at work. So i spend a lot of time on the computer. I feel i need to feed my obsession of the outdoors and am wondering if anyone has some favorite websites (other than this one)?

Re: Whats your shortest shot My first bow kill was a 8 ptr at about 5 yards. when i shot i thought i completely missed because he acted like he reacted from the sound. It took about 10 steps and started to feed again. So i was nocking up another arrow, when he stood up on his hind legs and fell over backwards. It was a double lung shot, I don't think he ever felt it.

Re: new to the game I used to shoot thunderhead 100s but as i started pulling more weight i had flight problems so a went to mechanical spitfires. I havn't connected with one of the mechanicals yet, but guys that i know that use them havn't had any problems with them. I bought them because the guy at my local bowshop showed me some stats on deer that were checked in there the past year. Over half were taken with that broadhead. He said he expects the Crimson Talon to give it a run for the money though.
