I still hunted here and there, but i did sacrafice a lot of parties. But i don't regret it at all. I lived about an hour from home so it wasn't all that bad.

Re: Has anyone seen any velvet bucks yet???? I couldn't beleive my eyes on Friday. At noon i saw a very mature buck, that would probably score in the 140 range right now. To bad this wasn't on my property. I was kicking my self because i didn't have my camera.

Re: pass on the 1 1/2 year old bucks?? I've killed three 1.5s. One with shotgun and 2 with bow. That is plenty for me. Now I am content killing does and waiting for a wall hanger. It really is a good feeling to pass on small bucks, and it is really fun to take pictures. Actually I still have some pictures from last season on a roll of film. I need to get them developed.

Re: how to age deer That is one nice 1.5 year old buck. our year and a halves are usually about 6 or 8 pt basket racks. otherwise i can tell by the weight.

Who do you all prefer for buying your archery accessories? I refuse to buy anything unless i have too from my local proshop. The guys there only want to sell you a 1500 dollar bow. and act like you're an idiot because you don't have one. I've looked at Mountain Archery and they seem pretty reasonable. Are there any other Online or cataloged suppliers that you guys and gals like? Thanks too all... aaron

Re: QDM Fly, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to offend you. I guess i generalized most of the gun hunters around my area. Because deerhunting has become a trendy thing in my area. Partly because we have a lot of deer, and people from other areas are flocking in. I have no problem with people filling their freezer, but there are a lot of people just trying to get another pin. Time isn't it at all. Last year i probably only bowhunted 10 days. I didn't take a deer because i was selective. In illinois shotgun season is only 2 weekENDS. But QDM is about what hunters want out of their land. If people are content to fill tags and their freezer...great. Once again, i'm sorry if i've offended. I'm not looking for a fight just giving my views.
