Re: 2006 Huge CA Blacktail (pics) Is that a stick or a tine coming from its right base? Also, whats the difference between blacktails and mulies? I'm a whitetail man and the two look alike to me. Great buck either way.

Re: Whos a Mitchum Man I used mitchum for a while it was good stuff. Now every time I turn around my wife is bringing home something different. I guess she thinks I stink. There was a time in my single days when I wouldn't buy a new stick until I used every last bit of a stick. Now I have about seven different sticks. Sorry for rambling.

Re: bow speed ratings Everyone thinks you have to be approaching 300 fps to be fast. But those guys think 250 fps is 300 fps. B/c 250 is what they're shooting, and because the package says 300 IBO, thats what they're telling people. But when they put it on the chrono they think something is wrong. IBO ratings are fine for comparing bows side to side in a magazine, but knock 30-50 fps off of that and thats what you'll probably see in a hunting set up. I was shooting my new Pearson Stealth last week along side a guy that was blown out of the water by the speed. He thought I was shooting in excess of 320 fps. I said "no its about 260 fps." He was like "no way mine is shooting 300 and yours is way faster than mine." I told him "don't put it on the chrono because you'll probably cry." I won't mention what brand he was shooting.

Re: How much does my arrow weigh? Thanks guys. I'm going to the shop tonight to build a new arrow. I'm only shooting 60 lbs now and will max at about 64 lbs, so I obviously need a lighter arrow. I'd like to shoot about 5.5 grains/lb to pick up a little speed. Right now I'm @ 6.75 gr/lb. I'm probably going to go with Nitro Stingers from Arrow Dynamics. www.nitro-stinger.com They have a tapered shaft for better penetration. The orange labels are 8.1 gr/in. I'll probably shoot feathers and wraps too. I don't know exactly how much they weigh but a guesstimate puts me at about 6 gr/lb if I go up to 64 lbs of draw. 28.5 X 8.1 = 230.85 Tip 100 Insert 15 Nock 12 Wrap 10 ? Feathers 21 (7 grains a piece) ?? 388.85 grains / 64 lbs = 6.07 grains/lb

Re: What is your favorite I prefer hunting evenings. Its just a more relaxed hunt. I can take my time getting ready and getting to the stand. And as the time passes, you've got better chances of seeing deer. Its like the entire hunt is leading to the climax. I hunt the mornings too but get bored easily after about an hour or two after sun up.

Re: any suggestions for a new bow?? Definitely go with a company that will stand behind their product. I'm sure all of the above mentioned will. I just bought a Pearson Stealth. Its a heck of a bow from a small company, but its no less than top shelf; fast and quiet. Check one out. I was considering Matthews, Hoyt, and Ross when I bought the Pearson.

Re: Robin Hoods Anyone? I came pretty close this past weekend from 30 yards. I hit the nock and the arrow rode down the other arrow about halfway splintering it all the way down until it busted out the side. Needless to say that arrow is no longer.
-
I'm shooting 28.5 inch GT 75/95. With 4 inch duravanes and 100 grain tip. I know the arrow is about 8.9 grains/inch; but how much do the vanes, nock, and insert weigh? Thanks, aaron

Re: Sonic Broadhead This whole thing has exploded. Obviously it has created quite a buzz. Someone should email American broadhead co. the links to these threads so they can see everyones reactions.

Re: SONIC TEST [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] What a pain in the butt to put together! [/ QUOTE ] got my free one in the mail today.........and can I say that they are a whole lot easier to put together than Muzzy's! [/ QUOTE ] I think muzzys are the easiest broadhead to put together. The Sonics weren't band once I read the directions. But thunderheads... more like a thunderheadache

Re: Sonic Broadhead [ QUOTE ] I received mine and the blades would not fit into the furrell. I did everything I could to get the head together. I e-mailed them and Derrick responded, he is sending me two other ones to try. [/ QUOTE ] I had trouble at first but I got them in. I just had to read the instructions.

Re: Sonic Broadhead I got mine too. I didn't shoot it yet though. Even though its very well built I'm not sold on the small diameter.

Re: Sonic 100 Pro BroadHeads I ordered my free one a week ago. I'm curious to see what it will do. How long did it take to get it in the mail?

Re: Physics is a killer! I had physics in college and it did suck. Every problem was about a 20 step process to get the answer. Usually the concepts of physics was over my head but I've always been pretty good at algebra. So I'd break the problem down to what variables are given to me, and the one I need to figure out. Then I'd take all of the formulas given to me and put them on one sheet of paper. Then I'd manipulate the formulas to work my way to the variable that I need. See what I'm saying? Confusing, I know.
