Re: Team 14 Well everyone, I went out Saturday and had some luck. I sat in the morning and passed up some little does in hopes of a mature one coming in and that didn't happen. So the afternoon I went back out and I sat in the stand for about an hour and had deer all over me. I didn't see anything big so I let my camera do the shooting on two small bucks and a really nice piebald yearly doe. Just before dark I had a nice eight point come slowly in. I could tell he was hurt and I decide to take him out. I was hoping for something bigger this year but since he was hurt I thought I did the right thing. That's the last buck tag I have so it's on to doe hunting. Turns out the buck had a broken back leg, probably from fighting my guess. Well here are some pictures. [image][/image]

Re: Team 14 I like the bottom one as well.

Re: 2006 PA buck Yeah having the does around settled me down a bit. But I was still nerve before and after the shot.

Re: Team 14 Yeah like I said I still have a buck tag left. I got three tags for crop damage for my land this buck was one. The rest I will use for does. This buck probably only goes low 120 class but he was a good management deer to take out. Now I'll be going after the big one I've been seeing.

Re: how many of you.... I would never cut up a tag. Learn from your mistake and move on. This happens to all bow hunters I'm sure in there lifetime. It stinks but it happens. If I cut up a tag without getting any meat, I'd be wasting the money for the tag and a lot of money on beef for the next year. Vension lasts me all year and saves a lot of money.

Re: Moron of the Month Just be glad you found the problem. Get out there and try again. And Nick everyone misses.

Re: Muzzy Shooters I shoot my right out of the pack. In fact I just bought a pack tuesday night and put them on the arrows. Wednesday morning I harvested a nice eight point and what a hole it put in that deer.

Re: 2006 PA buck [ QUOTE ] Thats a great buck, congrats! Especially for centre county. I work in Blair, and all the guys here that hunt centre county have been seeing small bucks this year. I've been watching some nice ones in Indiana county. Hope I connect... again, congrats! [/ QUOTE ] I think it depends were you hunt in centre county. I hear guys talking all the time saying they don't see any deer or big bucks. But last year I took a ten point that went 143 p&y and this eight point this year. I think it depends on if you put in the time and a little luck.

Re: 2006 PA buck [ QUOTE ] congrats on a fine buck. Nice and wide just his tines are not that long. I would have dropped him in a heartbeat. Interesting he came into the does. What parts of PA are you in? [/ QUOTE ] I live in centre county. Yeah I thought the same thing, when he came into the does but he was trying to get the oldest one to stand. I wouldn't think the rut is this early but you never know.

Well I guys I went out wednesday morning and saw 4 doe's. I was going to shoot the big one but they layed down 10 yards from my stand. So I thought this could be a good thing to bring some bucks in. I watched them for probably an hour just sleeping. Then I looked up and saw a buck coming my way. He wasn't huge but a good buck to take because he was mature. (I saw this one before scouting). He came right into the does and went up to one and was trying to get her to stand up. Well at 15 yards and not having a care in the world but the doe I took the shot. It was an eight point with about a 20 inch spread. Not huge, but an old deer that I saw last year and was about the same size. [image][/image] I guess not shooting one of the does payed off.

I taged it with a red tag (crop damage) so I still have another buck tag. But I'll have to wait and post it for the score later because the tag is at the butcher shop. [image][/image]

Re: Team 14 Saturday was a great day. Cold out in the morning and the wind in my favor. But just as it was getting light out the rain came. I did see a six point and a few does but I didn't get a shot. Better luck next time I guess.

Re: Team 14 Hi team mates. I'm 22 and live in Central PA. My parents and I own 225 acres of managed land. We have 5 large food plots and fields of standing corn. For the last 5 years I've been harvesting lots of doe and bucks that are mature usually 4.5 or older. This is my second year of this contest and last year I harvested a nice 10 point. Bow season starts saturday and I'll be hunting all day. I've got plenty of good sheds from last year and lots of trial camera pictures of some good bucks. I've spotted a big 8 point that probably goes 150's I'll be after him! Good luck to everyone. Joe
