  1. Re: New to the Sport need some help!! [ QUOTE ] the bow shop, should have measured your draw length and told you how long the arrows should be, i use to cut them 1 inch past the rest... [/ QUOTE ] ditto
  2. Re: Bowhunters you need to read this [ QUOTE ] Here is the cartoon that is causing a stir. [/ QUOTE ] you guys gotta watch downloading stuff like this.. Those radicals like to put nasty virusus in stuff like that, it`s called cyber terrorisim
  3. Here is a picture of our beaver trapline after 2 days, when we skin them all i`ll get a better picture...The 2 on each end are atleast 40 pounds each..I reset my trap after i caught my first one, my buddy`s traps were all set off and i diddn`t know where or how he had them set, so we went back down to reset his and noticed my trap was gone that i had just reset 2 hours before. It ended up having a beaver in it, talk about luck...
  4. Re: trapping lure? I would use a drowning lock, beaver like to dive when their trapped...
  5. Re: trapping lure? Beaver castor or Russ Carmens Hudson Seal
  6. Re: Mink trapline If i was trapping for money i wouldn`t make a dime !!!! I`m pretty sure i`ll tan everything i trap this year... I have a lot of skinning, scraping and stretching time involved with what me and my buddy have caught this year. Heres this weeks catch alone..
  7. Re: Mink trapline [ QUOTE ] Well, Shockwave...............on your say-so.........I put 3 blind sets out for mink this morning. 2 culvert sets and one under an undercut creek bank. Dunno about the culverts. But it looks like somethings been running the creek bank. We see. [/ QUOTE ] Dude, whatever you do don`t take my advice , I just throw a suggestion out there from time to time...lol... The culvert is a great place, thats where i caught the one wednesday, in a pocket set..
  8. Re: Couple more pics from the trapline......... like strut said, do your traps have swivels ?? , the only thing i can add is, how often are you checking your traps ??
  9. Re: Mink trapline [ QUOTE ] Good work!! I've caught a mink or two in the past. But that's one thing I never really tried targeting specifically. Don't know if there are even enough of them around here to be worth the time. [/ QUOTE ] If your muskrat trapping, just throw a pocket set or 2 in, it doesn`t take very long to make one, you might even pick up a coon or 2 for your efforts..
  10. I don`t have a pic of the one i caught yesterday, i had to work so my buddy checked my traps for me, but i do have a pic of the one i caught today..I`ll post the other before i skin him..
  11. Re: Couple more pics from the trapline......... congrats !!! I caught a mink yesterday, and one today, i don`t know why i ever took a vacation from trapping ??????

  16. Re: Bear skin rug?? [ QUOTE ] Is this referred to as "hijacking a thread" . Just joking...I got the information I needed already. [/ QUOTE ] Nope just asking for advice, lol, and letting you know whats involved in making a bear skin rug...
  17. Re: Bear skin rug?? [ QUOTE ] When I do paws i take the whole "hand" (If you've ever seen a naked bear paw you know why I'm calling it a hand) out of the paw at once. Just skin each "finger" all the way to the claw. [/ QUOTE ] I did his with all of the pads still attached, i rolled the skin back like you would take your sox off, then took a pair of pliars and a sharp knife and more or less pulled and dug each bone out individually to the claws, very time consuming.....
  18. Re: ??? for dirt trappers Your better off finding a supply of dry dirt if your worried about traps freezing.
  19. Re: How High? I set mine at waist level, with no ill effects.
  20. Re: Bear skin rug?? [ QUOTE ] I charge $135.00/ft w/ a $550.00 minimum. Bears are measured from the tip of the nose to the BASE of the tail. This includes an open mouth, double felt of your choice of colors, padding, and hand sewn backing. [/ QUOTE ] I give you taxidermists all the credit in the world. I`m helping my buddy do his bear from this year. So far between him and I, we have close to 40 hours in his bear. I had 6 hours in the paws alone, de-boning and scraping them with the pads still attached. I hate to say this Swamp, but those guys are underpaid when it comes to bearskin rugs, there is a lot involved, like i said we have 40 hours just in preparing his bear to tan...Timber, do you have any tips for removing bones from their paws for the next one i do ??
  21. Re: Strangest injury?? [ QUOTE ] Wow, that had to be a lengthy recovery period! I minored in athletic training so we learned some of the causes of injuries, such as planting and twisting... [/ QUOTE ] It still gives me trouble from time to time. It likes to lock up on me when i least expect it
  22. Re: Strangest injury?? [ QUOTE ] Here is one of my many...not weird but funny... [/ QUOTE ] I was playing football when i was 18, i dislocated my left knee, my lower leg was at a right angle, mcl, acl, patella tendon all torn to shreds.. A kid grabbed my jersey, i planted my foot, to spin away, my cleet grabbed, i spun, he pulled, i heard a loud pop, then a white light, then my lights went out for a second, i woke up to see my foot in a position it shouldn`t have been...Not the strangest injury, but darn did it hurt.....
  23. Re: Deer Vs. Bobcat I always wondered if a bobcat could take a deer down, i guess that question is answered...
