  1. I'm fine with any team name, I'm not picky. We can stay Team 7 or maybe Team Lucky 7 or something like that. Or if someone wants to come up with a clever team name that isn't already taken then I'm fine with that too. Maybe something like Team Realtree Renegades, Team Realtree Strutters, Team Realtree Bird Busters, Team Realtree Gobbler Getters, etc. Once we decide on a team name, if enough team members want a signature to wear around with the team name I can make us one once we are sure everyone on the team has checked in and that we aren't replacing anyone. Also, if anyone needs help hosting their entry's pictures or even posting up their entry feel free to shoot me a PM and I'll send you one back with my e-mail. Long as you can get the pictures on your computer somehow and attach them to an e-mail I have no problem hosting them on my own photobucket until the contest ends and helping you get them up in a post in the entry thread. Just make sure you read the rules and have all the pictures you need to get your entry qualified! I hope everyone has a fun, safe, and successful season! I'm looking forward to seeing pictures and stories of your gobblers. Hopefully I can lay some lead into a gobbler myself.
  2. I've been signed up for awhile. The link is in my signature.
  3. Congratulations Gary and Slughunter! Thanks goes out to Vance for being a great teammate and shooting a lot of squirrels! I wish I could have got out more or got more squirrels, but I didn't have as much luck as I wish I did. Also a big thank you to Chris for running this contest again this year!
  4. Hello everyone! My name is Nadine and I'm checking in for Team #7. I'll be hunting Easterns in Pennsylvania in May. I've been turkey hunting since 2005. Hopefully this year I'll bag my first longbeard. I saw a lot of good turkey sign back in December, so looking forward to getting out there and after them gobblers. Good luck everyone!
  5. Congratulations to the winners and winning team! I had a great time and was on an awesome team this year. Thank you Steve for running the show!
  6. Here's two that come to mind... Loyal Hunter's Kennel Holy Retriever's Kennel
  7. I'd hunt with Bill Jordan and get skunked anyday. He seems like a really down to earth good natured fellow. Tred's personality type would clash with mine majorly. I'd be tempted, like Andrea said, to bound and gag him and then just leave him somewhere far, far away while I go hunt. lol I'm in no way a high-strung individual and I honestly cannot stand high-strung or extremely dominant personality types. I also honestly have no clue who Bodie Owens is, even after reading someone's description of him. So, that rules him out because I don't hunt with strangers.

    House update ( pics)

The house is looking nice Andrea! This house we are living in at this very moment we did the same thing as you. We built it as a family from the ground up. It was a lot of HARD work!
  9. HAPPY BIRTHDAY RANDY! Don't let your mishaps with the girl get you down. Better to find out now you two weren't meant to be, than years down the line. Enjoy the single life and eventually you'll bump into a nice girl with your name on her heart.
  10. I feel Comp-N-Choke makes an excellent choke for lead shot (I'd like to make note Comp-N-Choke tubes cannot safely shoot Hevi-Shot according to the company!). For hevi-shot I found Primos Jellyhead chokes to perform the best. I heard good things on Rhino chokes with hevi-shot, but they are just too expensive for me to afford. As far as loads go for lead shot I find Winchester Supreme HV loads to perform the best. For hevi-shot I found Hevi-13 to perform the best. I heard good things about Nitro Hevishot loads, but they just are too expensive for me to afford.
  11. Shammy Towels, Super Shammy Towels, Mini-Shammy Towels, Etc. These towels are amazing, very durable, and reusable. They are extremely absorbent and work well for towels to dry pets after a bath, clean up liquid messes, wipe down a freshly washed car, etc. Just make sure to follow the care instructions and they should last several years before wearing out. Several different companies make and claim to have the "best" of these kinds of shammy towels, but so far they all seem to work about the same for me. Some do vary in size, meaning they can hold more or less liquid between ringing them out, though. I'm highly impressed with them. We have a double-coated 95lb. German Shepherd and after a bath she is a sponge full of water that we just can't get dry. Since we got some Shammy towels to use on her now drying her off is so much quicker to do. They also make drying a car off after washing it a breeze, too. We can dry off several cars with one shammy towel. It comes in handy when washing down two race cars after a muddy day at the race track and trying to get them dry in order to work on them in the shop.

    My feet!

Hmm can't say I have that problem myself, but I know several people that do and it seems to be a real pain in the butt. The one person I know with a more extreme case of it the doctors diagnosed him with Hyperhidrosis and he had to go through a series of different treatments to see if any of them worked. They had him walking barefoot as much as possible, and when he couldn't wearing athletic socks that wick away sweat from the feet and changing his shoes and socks two to three times a day into a dry set. He also used absorbent foot powders a lot, too. It ended up none of the easy treatments ones worked and he had to go through "water iontophoresis". Which was basically they fill a container with water, stick your feet in, and shock them until the sweat glands stop working. He said it was like a constant tickling sensation and was very weird. The doctors said he'd have to do it every month or to get botox injections in his feet to stop the overactive sweat glands. He didn't like the idea of botox so went with the shock treatment. lol But, his case was a severe case though. His boots would litterally be soaked with sweat very quickly. As far as helping with your sweat problems during hunting. The most you can do is put on absorbent foot powder, a pair of wicking athletic socks and carry a couple spare dry set of socks with you and change them whenever you feel your feet getting wet. Maybe even carry a spare set of boots if it's real bad.
  13. By far my favorite fish to fish for is Walleye. I love putting a set of chest waders on and wading until it's above my hips just below a dam and casting off into the dam and catching the walleye. Top 5 Fish 1. Walleye 2. Catfish 3. Flounder 4. Bass 5. Trout

    How many shirts/pants?

I'd say 14 or 15 shirts and 7 or 8 pants would be good Andrea.
  15. Hmm...pink is not a color I like. Maybe for a target gun for someone who does like pink, but hunting I don't think so.

  17. I've been a loyal Firefox user for years. I still need to use Internet Explorer to update Windows XP, because Microsoft blocks Firefox, since it's a competitor. Other than that I can visit any website with Firefox (Once I installed all the plugins available to enable Acrobat, Flash, Shockwave, Java, Etc...). I'm a big fan of the Firefox browser when compared to Internet Explorer. I feel Firefox provides a much better pop-up blocker, prevents a lot of hidden spyware embedded on websites from auto-downloading secretly, and even has the ability to remove those annoying advertisement banners on websites that are covered in them. Plus I find it to run smoother and faster than Internet Explorer does. Ontop of that you can customize through the use of themes how the browser looks. If you like big buttons, want to match your desktop theme, etc. all you have to do is simply search their site for a similar theme to your liking, download, and enable it. Plus you can completely arrange how your want your buttons and favorites to be displayed at the top of the screen, too. They also offer tons of extensions that can be downloaded and installed to add extra features. They practically have everything under the sun from spell checkers to feed readers, etc. For example, I have an extension (Check4Change) on my Firefox that will tell me when a website updates by playing music on my speakers. It's great for watching last minute Ebay auctions for changes without having to sit there and hit the refresh button and watch the screen. Now all I have to do is highlight the text I want to watch, turn the feature on, turn on the speakers, and walk away within listening distance and wait for it to play some music to tell me my Ebay auction updated. The best thing of all is it's completely free! If you do try it I recommend the following two extensions and one extension add-on... - Adblock Plus (Adds more customizable popup/advertisement banner blocking abilities!) - Adblock Filterset.G Updater (An add-on for the Adblock Plus that pulls a blacklist database of bad websites and advertisement strings to add to the Adblock Plus to block even more advertisement junk!) - Tab Mix Plus (Adds more tab abilities and features!)
  18. Awesome snake! Is that an Eastern Indigo snake? If it is I saw one in a zoo here. They can get huge! The largest non-venomous snake in North America and considered threatened and endangered in some parts of the US. If not, then that is a very big black snake.

    Video Games

I play quite a few video games on the PC. I have a collection of over 100 PC games ATM. Here's a list of the games I currently play: - Guild Wars - Silkroad - RuneScape - Pirates Online - Deer Hunter 2005 - Deer Hunter 2004 - Trophy Hunter 2003 - Bird Hunter: Wild Wings Edition - FlySim: Flyfishing Simulator (Single Player) - Delta Force: Black Hawk Down - Call Of Duty 4 (Single Player) I've even been beta/alpha tester for a few games and helped even dabble a little in the 3D model design in a few games that just never were released. I still have the unfinished versions of those games that I worked with, I just cannot share them with others, so I can only play them alone.

    Favorite pizza topping?

I like quite a few combinations, but my favorite is cheese, sausage, pepperoni, onions, and portabella mushrooms.
  21. It's really a matter of personal preference as to which is a better choice for you Ruth. All the choices have pros and cons and all when used correctly and setup correctly will get the job done on a turkey. I'd go with whatever setup you're familiar and comfortable with using. I personally prefer a front and rear fiber optic sight over a regular scope. I'd like to have a red-dot scope, but just simply cannot afford a good one and won't settle for a cheap one. Right now I'm using a set of Truglo Remington Shotgun/Rifle sights with windage and elevation adjustments. It's what came stock on my gun from the factory. If I was ever to replace them I'd probably still stick with Truglo, but with their Pro-Series Magnum Gobble-Dot set. If I ever did go with a red-dot scope it'd be a red & green dot one with a shoot through setup (with my fiber optic sights underneath) and no magnification. Here's my opinions on pros and cons of fiber optic sights, red-dot scopes, and regular scopes. ---------------------------------- Fiber Optic Sights PROS - They have a great field of view when aiming. - They come in styles that allow both windage and elevation adjustments. - They lock into place after sighting them in and don't lose their zero unless physically abused. - There are a lot of styles on the market specifically meant for turkey shotguns. CONS - They can be hard to see in some low light situations, especially in a blind. - Some brands can be a bit tricky to get adjusted while sighting in. ---------------------------------- Red-Dot Scopes PROS - You have a simple dot to aim on the target. - You can see your dot even in low light conditions. - Some brands have a shoot through setup available allowing you to keep your fiber optic sights on the gun and use them if needed. - Some brands have the option of red or green dots and different styles of dots allowing you to see them better in different lighting situations. CONS - They require batteries to illuminate. - A good red-dot scope can be quite costly. - They can lose their zero from the recoil of the shotgun. - The lens could fog up or get wet and obstruct your view. - If they have magnification you could misjudge your target's distance. ---------------------------------- Regular Scopes PROS - You have a simple crosshair to aim on the target. - Some brands have a shoot through setup available allowing you to keep your fiber optic sights on the gun and use them if needed. CONS - They can be hard to see in some low light situations. - A good scope can be quite costly. - They could lose their zero from the recoil of a shotgun. - The lens could fog up or get wet and obstruct your view. - If they have magnification you could misjudge your target's distance. ----------------------------------
  22. We've gone through several washers here. Our latest one is a Whirlpool Duet. It's a front loading washer and one of the Energy Star Qualified products. I have to say so far this latest one that we've had now 2 years has been one of the best washers we've had so far. My mother is in love with it. It's much quieter than some of the others we've had in the past, easier to control the settings, it uses less water, and less energy. I think if this one breaks we'll probably be getting another Whirlpool Duet again.

    Old school games

Yep I remember the games. I used to play my cousin's Atari until my parents finally got me my first game console, which was a Nintendo. I used to love to play Super Mario Bros., Duck Hunt, Pitfall, and Zelda. I still play all the console games once in awhile on my computer when bored. They make little emulators you can download and then ROMS (the games) that go in the emulator programs that will play the game on the PC. Some of the better emulators even will let you plug in an USB control pad and use it with the games to get the same feel you had when playing them on the original console. I can't remember the website I used to download my Emulator and ROMS from because I went and downloaded them all and just burned them to disk about a year ago, but after a google search I found these websites. If you use google search you can probably find a bunch more websites just like this one that may offer different emulators or ROMS for download. http://www.emulator-zone.com/ http://www.freeroms.com/
