  1. I shoot 245 gr xtp bullets with 3 pyrodex pellets. Does anyone know what the bullet drop will be at 300 yds? Not suggesting I would shoot a deer that far, but I am curious to know. I have about 10 inches at 200 yds with a 100 yd zero.
  2. If you are that serious about hunting the property you should probably try to lease the ground or another piece of property. Otherwise they have the same rights to it as you. I can understand you are frustrated, but not everyone has the same goals or acumen in hunting.
  3. No offense, but if you ask for advice, you shouldn't get defensive about it. 40 yds is not an easy shot with a bow and it is acceptable to question the logic of it.
  4. Your response doesn't make any sense. If you banned guns would that stop illegal gun violence? The obvious answer would be no. If people are shooting deer with a spotlight now, what difference would it make to keep people from legaling spotlighting deer.
  5. If people are going to poach then they will poach. I personally enjoy spotlighting from time to time. It doesn't harass the deer anymore than a coon hunter will.
  6. At what point do most of you start rattling in relation to the rut, and when do you feel it is time to put the rattle horns up? Also, how much luck do you Mid western guys like me have rattling?
  7. If you buy a good steak you shouldn't need sauce with it.
  8. I shoot Barnes expander's 12 gauge 2 3/4 inch 3/4 ounce. They shoot great and don't kick a ton
  9. Would I be correct to state that you shot a deer while in your truck?
  10. I love the Colts, and hate the Patriots and Belicheat. Go COLTS
  11. I have a Sako 75 hunter in .25-06 that likes the light mags.
  12. It will be close to 90 this weekend in Indiana. I have no desire to shoot one in this heat, especially with the EHD going on right now.
  13. 70yds is a heckuva shot on an antelope
  14. I think the point was more why would you take a chance of spooking deer by shooting a squirrel rather than the comment regarding wasting arrows. If you have a deer coming in it could be spooked by you shooting non target species. At the end of the day it is your call.
  15. I shoot pellets. For me it is easier and more convenient than shooting loose powder.
  16. My dad and his three brothers own about 400 acres. I consider myself lucky they have it for me to be able to hunt on.
  17. I got drawn for my muzzleloader non res permit for IL. I will be hunting in Menard county. Anyone know anthing about that area in IL?
  18. I have two berretta's. I have a 390 trap and and 391 sporting that I hunt with. I have put thousands of rounds through each gun and they do not jam or hang. They swing well and shoot well. I highly recommend them.
  19. Hey, Has anyone hunted in or near Menard County illinois. My brother and I will be getting the chance to hunt on some private property in Muzzleloader season this year.
  20. I just got back my 05 (yes 05) Mule deer. I was excited because I am in Indiana and the taxidermist was in MT. I took it out of the box and was suprised when the cape on my mount is not even close to the cape of the deer I shot. My mulie was very grey and an almost silver muzzle, while the mulie I got back had a great deal more brown. I am upset at this, but I really don't even know what I can do.
  21. Re: Coyote hunting in Indiana.... Hunt coyotes in the morning and evening is best. If you live in an area where they are heavily run with dogs it will be very hard to call them in this time of year unless we get a very cold snap with snow. This time of year they are pretty wary. I don't have a lot of luck brining yotes in at night. Most likely you will call in some grey fox.
  22. Re: Who claims the buck If the buck made it overnight and didn't die they sure weren't going to get it. You killed the deer plain and simple, but you didn't really have a choice in the matter.
