Re: Knife Sharpeners P.2 Try this on broadheads. You'll be impressed!

Re: Thanks AJ Been hoping I'd find some info on knife sharpeners. Seems like A.J. has had a little experience with about everything. Can honestly say I haven't doubted him yet. Gonna try one of these. Thanks A.J.

Re: Stolen Blind Call the law!.... This is bad news. I'd have a talk with the landowner, if they would stoop to this, what else are they doing?

Re: My First Buck With Antlers Now you have broken the bubble! Good luck next year. Can't beat the father son hunts........

Re: 100 Grain Triple 7 vs 150 grain I think I shoot better with the 100 gr. load because I am more comfortable knowing I'm not going to get knocked flat with the 150 gr. load. I've shot both. My .50 Pursuit shoots tighter groups with the 100 gr. charge. I'm confident to 150 yards with my gun with only a slight holdover past 100 yards.

Tradition Muzzleloaders??? Any users here?
LETMGROW replied to Hillbilly's topic in Bluelk's Muzzleloader Room
Re: Tradition Muzzleloaders??? Any users here? Tallone I apologize. Got thinking [for a change] checked the primers and they are CCI 209, not Winchester like I said. -
Re: Got My New Dentures Today... Maybe you should ask for a refund.

Re: Cleaning ? DL is a brand of handcleaner usually packaged in a can or plastic container from 1 to 5 pounds. The packaging is blue and white. If you do use it be sure it does not contain pumice! I'm not even sure DL offers the pumice type anyway. This cleaner is found in most automotive parts stores, hardware stores and quite often in supermarkets. Most large chains like wal-Mart also carry it. This product also works great for spot cleaning carpets, auto upholstry and clothing. Read the lable on the can. It's great stuff. Oh, yeah it works well on greasy hands also. This is also known as waterless handcleaner.

Re: Scope shopping.... Huntin'sonovagun... The iluminated reticle is often battery powered. The reticle is seen normally when the scope is turned off. When it is turned on the crosshairs are lit up. Generally there is a dial which can be turned to increase or decrease brightness. There are some scopes out now which glow after being exposed to light much like alot of watches do.

Re: Scope shopping.... I commented on another thread about my fondness of the Simmons Atec scopes. My son has two and I have one at present. We have had great luck with all of them. Excellent in low light conditions, Very little fogging, seem to stay zeroed and focused,The new Master series from Simmons promises to be even better. They, as far as I know haven't been realeased yet, although I have read about it in one magazine already. I have several scopes with illuminated reticles. Frankly, I have never used the light in the field. More of a gimmick than practicle use. Do know someone who tried to use the light when the light was on the brightest setting. Darned near blinded him for awhile. I have a lot of faith in the Weaver 4x4 scope rings.

Re: Cleaning ? Quick cleaning tip! A couple years ago [or more] I was cleaning my muzzleloader and my hands were getting quite dirty. Being an auto mechanic by trade I almost automaticaly reached for my DL hand cleaner. This cleaned my hands quickly, then it hit me. How about the gun itself? I applied the DL to a patch, ran the patch through the barrel and let it sit a few minutes. Lo and behold the barrell swabed out clean with almost no effort. I have since used DL on the small parts as well, just rub it on, let it sit and clean as you would normally. Give this a try.

Re: md. deer????? Sometimes this snow really upsets the deer, other times it does'nt. Don't know why. Especially if you are in an area where you don't normally get a lot of snow. Up here in Northern NY they get used to it quickly. Hang in there they will be back.

Re: Harvest Reporting Much has been said about NY's Decals reporting system, most of it negative. Personally I have found it quite user friendly. Answer a few questions by punching a telephone keypad! how more simple could it be. You have the answers right in front of you if you legally tagged your kill. I report all my deer. I do know many hunters do not No doubt these are the ones accusing our DEC of not knowing What they're doing. Duh!.

Re: Need help with POACHERS!!!! Saw an ad on TV tonight that might intrest everybody. Seems Penns- Woods has a new trail camera out which can be programed to call your computer or someone elses computer when a picture is taken. Might consider connecting to the local DNR's computer. Imagine the laugh they would have if the tresspasser got his picture taken. So let him steal the camera. Now you have his picture and could have him charged with larceny as well as tresspassing. Check out the Penn-Woods web site and good hunting!

Re: Lightfield Slugs Never tried Lightfield, was tempted a couple times only because of price. Perhaps there is a reason! Guess I'll stick to the more pricey sabots I have had such good luck with.

Re: Slug accuracy: pump vs. semi-auto? MY son has an 870 which drives tacks at 100 yards using Winchester Partition Gold 3" sabots. I don't care for the recoil but it is more comfortable with 2 3/4 loads. Super accurate with the Remington rifled barrel. It also shot very well with the bird barrel with the rifled choke tube in it. The rifled barrel has the cantilever scope mount and is shorter, making the gun nicer to carry. My preference is my Remington 1100 with the Remington rifled barrel. This is also a cantilever barrel with a 2.5-5 scope mounted on it. Shoots GOOD, carrys well and doesn't rip my shoulder apart.

Re: 30-06 clipe thingy Nothing worse than a broken thingy! I own a 710 myself, never had a problem but will be gentle with the thingy.

Need your opinions on best 30.06 grain weight.
LETMGROW replied to VTbowman's topic in Rifles & Accessories
Re: Need your opinions on best 30.06 grain weight. AJ. Kudos to you. You really got into this one. I have hunted for quite some time with an .06 and personaly know you are 100% correct. My 7600 carbine was having a little problem digesting 180's so I played around some with powder charges. I found slowing the bullet down slightly brought my groups closer together. No deer I ever shot could tell me how fast that bullet was going when it hit him. Best anyone try different bullets and powder to find what their rifle likes. Seldom are any two the same. Whatever you do USE the ammo you sighted your gun in with! -
Re: Youth rifles-suggestions anyone If you are planning to shoot a lot check prices of ammo. The .17 is great [i own one] but ammo is about 5 times the price of the .22. You might consider a caliber you can reload. This might get her really interested. Ask her about it.
