Not too awful far. I shot this guy about 1.5 miles from gun world actually!
Thanks for the compliments everyone. I couldn't be more happy with this guy. It's a culmination of all the work I put in this year.
Well, I shot this bad boy this afternoon at about 5:10. He came out to the edge of the field after a short grunting sequence ready to fight. We made his way about 80 yards across the field straight at me and I took the shot at 40 yards. He didn't even make it out of the field. Possibly my best buck to date. Not a monster by any means but a respectable 8 pt and I am tickled to death with him. He was all juiced up. He came out with his hair puffed up it was the coolest thing I have ever seen. Great way to end my PA archery season. Now its off to Ohio to smack a big boy!
Its 8-9 years old. Never dry fired, I take good care of all my equipment. You would think that this thing just sat in my closet and was never hunted, but I have killed quite a few deer with it.
They arent too awful bad if you do your homework. I have killed birds on both public and private land. As long as you do your scouting you will be fine! Best of luck!
I am selling my old bow that I got when I was in 8th grade. I beleive the draw length is set at 24" but it can be easily changed, the draw weight can also be easily changed up to 50lbs. The bow is in fantastic shape, I took very good care of it. PM me with any questions or if you are interested. The price is $120 for everything. Draw lenght is adjustable from 24.5-28" I would rather not ship, but I am willing to travel a reasonable distance for a pick up. Thanks.
Nice! Congrats! I just got word that I was invited out to Kansas to hunt rios. I will be leaving in early may and stayin a whole week. I am so pumped its unbelievable. Hopefully I can post a pic of a few dead longbeards while. I'm out there!
I spotted a true monster the other day behind the house! It was a triple bearder with the shortest beard being around 7" and the longest pushing 12" or so. I got a very close look at him through my binos and he had some nasty long spurs on him. If I were to venture a guess they were 1.5" limbhangers! Thats the bird I am going to kill this year. I know exactly where they roost, where they fly down. He does have a few hens with him at all times but it shouldnt be that much of a problem. All I have to do now is wait for the season to some in. I will try to get pics up of him but I don't think you can tell that he has 3 beards but he is big either way!
I am actually staying in Germantown, TN then making the trip down with a friend to his lease. From what I understand, is that the lease is only about 30 minutes from the border, so, I guess it would be the northwest part of the state.
Hey everyone! I am going down to MS and TN in about 10 days and I was wondering what type of snake protection you would recommend for down there. I was wondering whether I should get snake chaps or gaitors, and also what brand would you recommend? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
