I am in the process of getting together the components to build a Custom 7mm Ultra Mag off a Rem 700 action. I have decided to go with a Hart barrel. What rate of twist should I order? I plan on using a 140 grain bullet most of the time, but will also play with some 160-168 grain bullets. I have searched the web a little but have yet to find the info. Any input would be appreciated.

Re: Bucks killed this year (Me and the Family) All whitetails were from the Panhandle. I did hunt two days in the U.P. here in Michigan and never saw a deer. I was invited by a co-worker and went. Next year I hope to have something a little closer that I can hunt more often.

Re: Bucks killed this year (Me and the Family) I just received the picture today. I live in Michigan now so I haven't seen the rack first hand. It was only killed yesterday. I am going on the information that my dad and uncle told me. I thought it looked bigger too.

Here is a Kansas Mule deer killed by my Uncle. 12 Point, 23.5" Spread. Here is an Oklahoma Whitetail my dad killed during Rifle season. 10 Point, 23" Spread. Here are the two Whitetail Bucks my dad and I shot during Oklahoma Muzzleloader season. Both 8 Points. His was probably one year older. Killed the same day about 3/4 mile apart.

Re: Predator Calls If you can see a coyote you don't need a call. When you see a coyote a call will likely help the coyote pinpoint you too fast or scare them off. Make a kiss sound with your lips or suck on your hand. This almost always works to get a coyote to come closer. When I am calling coyotes, I quit using a call as soon as I see the coyote. Coyotes can here the lip squeak over 300 yards away. To answer your question, I use a lot of different calls, but I have had really good success with the verminator brand of calls.

Re: coyote rounds I shoot a 257 roberts and have been shooting the v-max for several years now. I will say that this is probably not the best pelt bullet depending on the velocities you get from it. These bullet group tremendously (out of my gun), but they leave extremely large exit holes. I would probably look another direction for a pelt bullet.

Re: What broadhead? I've been shooting 85 grain Sonics and they are flying extremely well. I have also shot the Slick Tricks a bit and they flew very well also.

Re: Team 10 Sorry guys. I am working two jobs now and don't have time to get on as much anymore. I am excited to get out there this year. I will try to check in more often and see everyones progress. Good luck everyone. -
Re: Mathews Limb Question [ QUOTE ] You do realize the SB has more parallel limbs than the OB, right? [/ QUOTE ] If the bows are not pressed properly, it doesn't matter what brand you are shooting. I work in a bow shop and I was surprised at how many people working there were pressing bows incorrectly when I started. (That problem has been addressed and corrected.)

Re: Blazer Vanes and Whisker Biscuits ??? They will fly great helical, offset or straight. Fletching straight will cause far less drag and greater arrow speed. When I was shooting the WB, I shot straight fletch and they shot outstanding with a BH. I now have a slight helical with my Blazers since switching to fall-away rest.

Re: Oklahoma Bow Camp Man I wish I could swing through. I am going to be back in Okieland Nov. 1-10. I have 1200 mile drive one way to Michigan. I hope to see some great pictures from camp. Good luck to all that attend.

Re: hunt in oklahoma I hunt in the panhandle, (Texas county). I would like to see the Wildlife department issue Rifle and Muzzleloader Mule deer tags by draw only. I see tons of awesome whitetails killed every year, but most of the Muleys being killed are forks and 2.5 yr old 6 points. I was watching 3 different young bucks last year and opening morning of rifle all three were killed. The biggest was a six but very narrow and not too tall. I would like to see the Mule deer regulated tougher than the Whitetail.

Re: What Type / kind of things do you bring to eat? Growing up we hunted from a vehicle. We would spend a good majority of the day driving and glassing looking for deer to make a move on. When we got hungry we hit the convenience store in one of the many small towns around there. Now that I started doing a little tree stand hunting, I carry water and maybe some jerky in the truck. I sit until 9 or 10 and go to the truck for food and water.

Re: Fear! What I fear the most: Losing the opportunity to hunt and own firearms. (I know the possibilities are slim, but I couldn't survive if they were gone.) What I fear the least: I am really not scared of cookies, candy, and all sweets. (All you have to do is see my gut.)

Re: Welp Im moving to Wyoming! I am with New. I am very jealous. Be careful and hunt as often as possible. There are some great places to hunt out there.

Re: Weird arrow question Am I the only one thinking that his bow may not be tuned as well. It is probably in the difference in bows. Some bows actually shoot better not perfectly paper tuned. PSE Mach X for example recomends a high tear for optimum bh flight. You are going about finding the problem the right way, just keep at it until you get'r figured out. Are both bows the same bow as well?

Re: Sonic 100 Pro BroadHeads I haven't got my free 100 grain bh, but I am currently shooting the 85 grain bh and they fly great. I was surprised that more people weren't shooting them.

Re: Ok Boys & Girls! Time To Blow The Dust Out!!! I absolutely love dove season. However this year I am stuck in Michigan and for some reason dove are a sacred protected bird. My wife and I love to eat and hunt dove. We are from Kansas and Oklahoma and wish we could be there hunting with our families. Good luck everybody and be safe.
