  3. i,m in south central kansas and the weather has sucked to say the least we get a cool day and fires em up a bit and the next several days it warms up n shuts em down, usualy the first 2 weeks of nov i see alot of cruising and chasing but its been real slow so far
  4. nothing wrong with a december bowhunt here in ks, the bucks are usually hitting the food sources really heavy trying to fatten up after the rut, i killed this 174in gross 10pt on dec 4th in 2008
  5. thats a cool story for sure and a great find, to bad it ended like that though, not trying to hijack your thread but when i used to live in NW OK we had a local big buck contest that was scored by field dressed weight not by antler size and a friend of mines dad won the contest 1 year with a spike doe that field dressed 260lbs, that is a unheard of weight in OK for any deer, reguardless of sex, she was also still in velvet.

thanks everyone, i,ve heard of several things that cause the acorn tips, anything from velvet damage to mosequito bites i dont no which ones are true, but i no there are alot of deer in my area that have them, i posted a pic of my wifes first buck a couple weeks ago and if you look at it you,ll notice it has them also, and they are much larger than the ones on this buck, do any of you guys no for sure what really causes them?

  15. looking for thoughts on the browning blr the good the bad n the ugly,,, whats the accuracy like? reliability, i,m thinking bout trying to trade off the weatherby 300win mag for a blr in a 308win or 7mm08rem i no both these rounds well, but havent had any experiance with the blr and no one i know has or has had 1, the blr will only be used for short to medium range whitetails n maybe the occasional muley, any thoughts would be appreciated

  18. oops sorry that was supposed to say 18 points over 1 inch
  19. this is my buck from last weekend he has 21points with 18 of them being over 18inches, the first time i saw this deer this year we jumped him up while cutting corn 2miles away from where i enventualy shot him, throughout the archery season i had several close encounters with him, but just never could get a shot that i was comfortable with, so i let him walk, i sure wish i could have taken him with my bow,
  20. due to work my wife could only hunt last sat and sun she had a bad cold and was unable to go sat, but sun against my better judgement she said she was going no matter what, it was snowing and cold as heck, i,m so proud of her for sticking with it, well through all the coughing and me telling her she has to be queit (sorry for gripeing at u honey) at 5:00 sun eve she scored on a nice heavy 8 point at 125yds with her 243, BTW she was sent to the doctor from work monday and she has phneumonia(sp)
  21. great buck congrats, some hunters over here had their truck broke into last weekend, they stole there rifles and laptop, kdwp needs to open a theif season lol
  22. nice buck! congrats on a job well done kendal
  23. i agree i once killed a buck that like clockwork would only show up on the property and bed there every 6 days i mean he never stepped foot on the land till the 6th day but on the flipside i killed 21point saturday morning that was in the excact same bed i whatched him bed in on friday i think all mature bucks have a mind of there own i could take you to my tract and show you a mature buck bedded in a plum thicket 1 in crp field and 1 in a hedge row none of them think the same they just do what works for them to survive
  24. BTW thats a nice buck you got yourself
