Planting food plots for the first time, and one of the areas I plan on putting one in (MICRO PLOT), has lots of shade. Any clue what would be a good crop to use for whitetails?

It's legal in certain parts of wisconsin, but not all counties.

30 30 Has killed more deer than any other.
BrotherBadger replied to hunterbobb's topic in Rifles & Accessories
Very underrated rifle, IMO. I shot a few deer with one(old Mark IV i think, 1944), those suckers are sweet. -
Ok guys, i need some help here. I was cleaning out my grandfather's gun cabinet the other day(he went up to the happy hunting grounds, so i get all his goodies), and found some ammunition. It is a full metal jacket round, 3 inches tall. On the bottom, the only letters are "PP 60 VII". I have searched the internets far and wide, and yet i have come up empty. :bang: Can anybody help me out?

The best call for me is whichever one pulls in that particular Gobbler i am calling to.

30 30 Has killed more deer than any other.

People continue to buy them because they are comfortable with it. Why does it matter what other hunters buy? You don't want a 30-30, fine. I prefer my 7mm Mag myself, but if one of my friends wants to shoot a 30-30, i don't care. A 30-30 will kill a deer under 120 yards, which is what most casual hunter's max range is anyways. By your rationale, nobody should ever muzzle-load, since there are better options. Is the "killed more deer" a stupid argument? Sure, but why let it get under your skin? -
Easily Solution. Hope he gets a hat trick everytime, just hope you guys score one more.

That was pretty awesome! I don't have that kind of room to run around, but still pretty sweet to try!

Do you keep a loaded mag in your Gun?
BrotherBadger replied to BrotherBadger's topic in Hand Guns & Accessories
Probably should have explained the situation a little better. I have no kids, just me and the roommate right now(I'm getting married in July, that's why i wanted a HD gun). I did check the weapon in front of him, that's how he saw the mag. -
I recently got a P220 from my grandfather, who always kept a full mag in the gun, but nothing in the barrel(as a self defense gun). I grew up thinking this is perfectly acceptable, and when i got home tonight, my roommate wanted to see the gun. He was shocked when he realized the mag was full(basically said i was dumb for doing that). That got me thinking, did old pop teach me wrong? I don't see it as dangerous, as there is no way for that gun to go off until i cock it. Anyways, i await your opinions.

Best. Possible. Response. As for me, i love football and baseball, with hockey bringing up the rear. Baseball: Milwaukee Brewers Football: Packers Hockey: UW Badgers/Detroit Red Wings.

The Refs blow calls on every game, every week. I don't think anybody disputed that they missed the low hit. It doesn't change the fact that when it came to crunch time, brett blew it. No reason to keep discussing something that has been pretty much recognized by everybody....brett choked.

Favre Jersey Recall - Keep away from Children
BrotherBadger replied to PotashRLS's topic in NASCAR and Sports
Let me put it to you this way, the PR dept in green bay did one HECK of a job with Favre. They are the reason he has the image he does today. They sold an image to the public, and we bought it hook, line and sinker. Am i saying he is a bad guy? no. But he is not the guy the media/NFL has made him out to be all these years. -
On my ipod, the oldest i have is probably sinatra, or louis armstrong.

I've read upwards of 76,000 permits are left. So i figure we won't have a hard time getting some.
-
To be fair, we let him go for a young, pro bowl QB, who is only going to get better. It's really the definition of a win-win. Heck, the real guy we lost and don't have a suitable replacement for is longwell. I miss him a WHOLE lot more than i did favre this past year. Same place favre will be watching the SB from. And really, isn't that the only game that matters?
-
You REALLY think he is gonna live the rest of his life in regret? The man has a life outside of football. It's not like he hasn't won a Super bowl. Yea! I mean, he only accounted for 75% of your points, and ran for over 120 yards. That can go both ways you know. In fact, i am pretty sure no starting RB had 0 fumbles this season either. Fumbles happen to all runningbacks. But hey, you wanna blame him for losing two fumbles? Fine. I'll simply point out that it was the lack of big plays by the defense that really killed em. You lose 5 turnovers, you sure has heck better get some back, or atleast get to the qb more. Drew Brees did what brett couldn't, and that was just manage the game, and limit the big mistakes. In the end, you vikings fans should be proud of your team(if you aren't, stop watching football, cuz that was a great season for you). They gave a great effort, and despite the mistakes, were in a position to win at the end of the game. But were ultimately beaten by a team that just played smarter football when it mattered. Now you get to go through the 5 month wafflefest that is a brett favre offseason.

My father recently gave me a Browning 2000 12 ga shotgun. It is a gun that my grandfather bought and is in superb condition. I have used it many a time for hunting and regular skeet shooting. Now that i own it, i was thinking about using it for turkey hunting. My main question is: Can i find a choke for it? I have looked but not found any luck. Do i need to get a full choke barrel for it(i.e., nobody makes chokes for em)? I know this gun wasn't made for very long(mid 70s to early 80s), so finding an extra barrel would cost me a pretty penny. So, do you guys think i would be better off getting a newer shotgun for turkey?

Dude, i ended up spending 40 dollars there. GREAT savings. I got decoys, a new mouth call, and a bunch of other stuff. WAY below what i would have paid. The shipping was a little high($8 for it all, probably reasonable, but i am cheap). Still, if you don't find any decoys, you should check this site out.

I do grill year round. I am currently building my own smoker, so i can do it more often. It is a bit harder, as my current landowner doesnt allow grills or smokers on second story apts.

You gonna stop in at Mathews(home office is in sparta)? I would love to see ya, but i am in the exact opposite side of the state(SE Wisconsin). Have fun!

x2. I love the True Talker. I use it to cover my sound when i walk out to my stand(i make a low grunt as i take every 2nd step, to simulate a buck grunting thru an area). It works too. First time i used it, i have a doe walk within 4 feet of me(head down) before it looked up and bolted. Last time, i happen to turn around(not yet to the stand) and saw a doe eating directly behind me, about 15 yards(never saw me). It really seems to calm the does into a false sense of security.
