  1. Sent both of you guys private messages. thanks again.
  2. Bingo. I always sight in my gun a few days before i go out, and always feel the recoil. However when i'm huntin, i never feel it. Too concentrated on my shot placement than anything else.
  3. I'm takin my buddy hunting for the first time and i was hoping to find some cheap, old hunting pants he could use. He's a lot smaller than i am(About a foot), so he can't use any of my old stuff, so i figure i would check here. I'd like to keep the price under $15, but i am willing to negotiate. Need to be about 32 x 30, or 32 x 32. Feel free to contact me with any questions or info. Thanks guys!
  4. I like the idea of a 500 12ga for home defense. You wanna talk about knockdown power? You got it. Not to mention that you don't really have to worry about aiming so much with the shotgun so much. Here's a great article on home defense guns. http://artofmanliness.com/2009/07/23/the-best-guns-for-home-defense/
  5. I am taking my friend out for his first hunt on thanksgiving week. I'm really excited about it, as i was the one who introduced him to firearms.
  6. That would be collagen then. I have mostly been making breakfast link sausage, but have been thinking about moving towards bratwurst style sausage. I'll go out and get some natural casings this week. Thanks for the help guys.
  7. I think it's collagen, but i'm not 100% sure(honestly, it was the casings that came with the darn stuffer).
  8. I started making sausage last year, unfortunately, the sausage casing i have are horrible(meat turned out great tho!). What brand/kind of sausage casing would you recommend i try, and what do you use/what method do you for tying off the sausage?
  9. You're behind on the times man! now it's all about 6 hour power! From my understanding, it has the same amount of caffine as a cup of coffee, so if a cup of coffee can pick you up, this stuff will too. It works for me, btw.
  10. I've got that model and i love it. The only problem is sometimes it comes out of the ground after many uses(from the torque). Nothing a lil weight with the foot can't handle tho.
  11. Anybody here get it? Man, i wish i shot that beast. Here's the article with a pic. http://www.fdlreporter.com/article/20090922/FON0101/909220341/1985
  12. To be fair, Favre admitted that he mostly played last year to spite Ted Thompson, asks for his release so he can sign with one of the Packers main rivals. I think he would like to win one more Super Bowl, but i bet deep down, he wants to embarrass Ted more than anything. As for Chrud being bitter, why should he be? We have the better QB.:clown:
  13. Make sure to post some pictures of your setup when you are ready! We just started doing our own processing last year, and the equipment paid for itself before the year was over.
  14. I have a wool knit green bay packers stocking cap i bring(even tho i hunt in Georgia), everytime i go out, and on the religious side, i have a Saint Michael Pendant that i never leave home without.
  15. What you need to do is go to your local hunting license dealer(i usually get mine at the walmart sporting good dept), and ask for a instate deer hunting license. You will need to show ID(proof of residency). You can either buy a single season license, or a lifetime(much more expensive). I would recommend the single season right now, if it turns out you don't like the hunting experience, you're only out about $35(or however much the in state in georgia is, i don't recall). If you want to buy your license online, go to this address: https://www4.wildlifelicense.com/ga/index_hf.php You are also going to have to have a Deer harvest Record, which you can also pick up at a license agent(walmart, ect). These you have to get every year, and you MUST fill it out before moving the deer you shot. The Firearm season in Northern Georgia(October 17 - January 1) is shorter than in the south(October 17 - January 15). THe Archery season is September 12 - October 9. The Bag limit is 12 per season, No more than 10 may be antlerless and no more than 2 may be antlered. One of the 2 antlered deer must have at least 4 points, one inch or longer, on one side of the antlers. Now, as for processing the deer, you can do one of two things; you can take it to a processor(either skinned or non, but if you skin and gut it, it will cost less), or you can do it yourself. I personally no longer go to a processor(we had problems with the guy giving everybody the exact same amount of meat, no matter how big the deer was), so we do it ourselves. As far as bagging a deer, there is alot of work going into it. Do you know the land you are going to hunt? Are there stands/blinds already up to hunt from?
  16. Sitting here in front of my computer i would say wait a year. However, if i was in a stand with my gun in my hand, it might be a different story. If you do shoot him, i wouldn't think twice about it.
  17. I've shot about 60% of my deer from a stand, but that number could even out this year, as we have more blinds.
  18. Silly question here: How much Baking Powder should i use? About the same amount as i would if it were tide/other detergent?
  19. I'm hoping for 3, but i almost always get too picky, and only get two.
  20. I started Deer hunting about 10 years ago(I'm 25), i think my tally is somewhere around 20 or so(i avg about 2 a year, as i can only hunt about 16 days a year).
  21. I've got one that was just handed down to me, that i thought i would share with you guys. 2/3 cup water 1/2 cup whiskey(i prefer a sour mash, so i used Jack Daniels) 1/2 cup pineapple juice 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup diced onion 1/3 cup worcestershire sauce 1/3 cup soy sauce 1/4 cup liquid smoke 1 teaspoon minced garlic Actually have this marinading right now on some cube streak. I haven't had it before, but it sounds pretty good to me. What's your favorite marinade?
  22. Agreed. I like fried Venison, but i prefer to fry to lesser cuts. Backstrap is not one of em, least for me anyways.
  23. I'm interested. How do we work out payment? Paypal? Check/M.O.? Anyways lemme know how we are gonna work this out.
  24. Re: Questions about locating turkeys Thanks for all the advice guys. I really am very greatful.
  25. Re: Questions about locating turkeys [ QUOTE ] How big is the property?? Gobblers are a pretty conspicuous bunch right before sunrise in the spring. Here in the PA rolling hills, it's nothing to hear them over a mile away. So, even if you can't scout pre-season, it shouldn't take you too long to figure out where they are on opening morning.......just before sunrise. [/ QUOTE ] We have 326 acres.
