  1. It seems the standard or most popular is a 250 grain bullet for a 50 cal. ML on deer. If you went with 200, wouldn't you get better ballistics? ie. a faster bullet, flatter, longer range, more accurate????? thanks
  2. I got a new tree saddle today. I've been wanting one since this time last year. I got a great deal on one but they only had an XL. I'm a 33'ish waist with an athletic build. 200 lbs. 6 feet. I didn't open this up, but I'm thinking it will be too big. Anybody with experience have anyting?
  3. Whomever mentioned that bowarrowhunting.com had a free giveaway contest for luminocks,,,, a BIG THANK you!! I won and will be gettting them soon. And I usually never win anything!!
  4. It was nice while it lasted........so to speak.
  5. I think I saw an imfomercial for that on late night TV.
  6. somtimes a bent doinker works better!!
  7. I like the look of the acupro guides. I'll try them. Can you tell me more about your homemade guides for your ramrods? Maybe a picture? thanks
  8. What about the muzzleloader with a ram rod in the field. Do you do anything different with that or do you just use it with the jag? I´ve always just used it as is.
  9. A snake would solve the problem too I guess. Didn´t think of that either.
  10. Great imfo. They are gone as soon as I get in from out of town. I already have the new ones that are low.
  11. The rifle in question is my Winchester Model 70. It's fairly new and has been babied... I think.. now that I've been thinking of my cleaning techniques. If I have cleaned it say 25 times, without a guide, do you think I have done any bad damage?
  12. thanks,, I'll go get that with my bore guide.
  13. This is on my Omega also. I can see through them to see a target also. It's just that the top of my sight is cut by 35%. I guess that is unavoidable.
  14. Oh, I bought a cone type of guide. I guess that is just for the muzzle. I didn't know there was one for the other end. I'll go get one. thanks what about the muzzle loader in the field. The ram rod and it's attachments, do you have a guide for those you use? I can hear it rubbing the bore when I use it.
  15. I was thinking about that, but have never done it. Let me tell you more to see what you think. It's a small scratch, more like a nick. However it shines, so it's in the metal. If I buy this stuff, I would assume it would still be noticeable, but not as much,,,,right? I could then not worry about rust also? Can I just dabe a little on the nick with a toothpick or something, or do I have to coat a large area that may stand out afterwards? thanks for chiming in, I'm starting to feel better about this if I can make it less noticeable.
  16. I FINALLY got out to shoot my new Omega today. It has a Burris Fullfield II with BDC. I loved the whole package. It shoots great. I'm sick though. I scratched the barrel on the first fricken day!! I had the gun leaning up against the bench at the range to swab and load the barrel. I have a small scratch right through to the metal on one spot and where I marred the blueing on another. I guess this is just a shooter gun. It's just a plain jane with a black stock, but I'm anal about my guns. I can't believe I let that happen. sorry, just venting!!
  17. I've been doing some reading on protecting the rifling when cleaning a gun. With my bolt gun, cleaning from the breach is easy enough, but the rod still rubs against the bore. How do you stop that from the breach end. What about my muzzleloader? Everything there is from the muzzle and I can hear the ram rod sliding down the bore surface. I'm not going to use that bushing in the field am I? I bought some of those bushings for the muzzle end for my 10/22 and lever action. Is this stuff all over kill or is really that important?
  18. I bought some of these to use for the first time. What am I missing here? The view under the scope is very limited at best because the scope lense hangs down into the field of view through the rings. I can use the iron sights, but the top half of the picture is blocked by the scope.
  19. ok thanks, that's what I'll do.
  20. how hard is it to loosen the screws if you've used it?
  21. My scoped rifles are a 270WSM and 50 cal ML'der.
  22. How important do you think a thread sealer is on scope mounting hardware? Do you think a good torque is enough? thanks
  23. Love my Nikon Monarch for 200.00 at Natchez!! Less than that for a refurbished one.
