Headed to Game tonight. Sorry Texas boys....but we are taking these next two and the the trophy. At least I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Was out this weekend and didn't see much daytime activity. Had does around me in mornings and evenings but only horn I saw was and 6pt that was by himself. 80 degree temps probably have something to do with it. Good looking scrapes just not bucks coming to them in the daylight hours and no chasing activity seen yet. Next week/two or so should see real good activity starting up if temps cool somewhat. I think rain and cold weather blowing in tonight. Post your IL conditions and Rut update here.

Kentucky is actually a really good state for big deer. If you remember a few years back NorthAmericanWhitetail did a thing by state. They took B&C entries and divided by the state square miles....KY is #1 or #2...cant remember exactly...but ahead of IL. That tell you that if you are in the woods in KY you have one of the best chances in the world of hooking up with a world class buck.

That is a real monster buck and congrats to whoever killed it. However, I do see Hoosiers point in that you come on here promoting your website. Makes me a little skeptical. However, I will assume the deer was on the up in up in less I hear otherwise.

I hunt with my grandfather also so I know how special that relationship can be. I bet your gramps was smiling down looking at that big bruiser. Great way to honor him by taking time with your father to enjoy your father in the family tradition. Congratulations on a great buck and condolences to you and your family for your loss.

Got in a morning hunt. Didn't see any deer. I was going to shoot a small doe if one came under as I have been wanting some backstrap. Maybe Sunday night.

shot the bow a little tonight. Still got it. Ready for opening day. Might do a few sits early in October but trying to keep myself contained for hard core action in November. Got to keep the wife happy and don't want to get your angry b/f the rut kicks in. Can't stand hearing that bs...when the bucks are on their feet during the day chasing does. Real nice buck..I hope you stick him this year. I haven't gotten any good pics of bucks on my cams but I know they are out there. Oct. 1 is just a few days away...need to get my bow out this week and shoot a few arrows. Pretty much has snuck up on me.

I have heard that the remington accutips are really accurate out of this gun and hold their wieght.

Quick question. IL regs say that resident and non-resident youths (under 16) are able to buy an OTC youth deer season tag and be hunt with a non-hunting adult. What about youth deer hunters during the general firearm or bow season? Can a out of state youth buy a tag and hunt in Illinois with an OTC tag? Anybody have experience with this?

I don't know if you guys saw this but it made me laugh...don't know if they aired it on Fox news. Gets even funnier considering that President Obama had just made the call to send US Navy Seals into Pakistan to kill Bin Laden a few hours before. The far right is calling for his birth certificate and he is working 24-7 to keep this country safe and improve the country economically not only for today but for the long haul. I think it is funny that no one on the far right gives the guy any credit I am not sure who I am going to vote for yet...most likely the President b/c I think he has done a superb job in the last four years. If Trump gains in traction then you can be sure that the party is dead. One guy that is doing very well in straw polls is the black guy that ran Godfather's Pizza Chain. I haven't heard him but I think he is about as far to the right as you can get. The other top GOP don't stand a chance, Romney - Religion, Palin - Intelligence, Trump - credibility. Unless some other unknow republican steps up with some fresh ideas and a good abiltiy to package them then Obama '12 is a shoe in. Ultimatly I think Obama is a pragmatist and pretty well a centrist. If he ever gets behind in the polls all he has to to is release the picture of the Bin Laden's blown off head and that should be enough to get him over the top.

Yep...do alot of squirrel hunting in August. However, once it gets to be september I pretty much focused on deer season starting.
