20 Gauge 3 inch Remington Accutip Anybody have any idea where you can buy these slugs. Just bought a H&R Ultra Slug Hunter and can't find any 3 inch slugs anywhere. Especially these...they are all on backorder?

Keep your spirits hgh. I sometimes get frustrated but it takes on encounter with a bruiser to change all that around. Size is relatives so it doesn't have to be a booner to change your spirits. Right now what I am struggeling with is that I want to shoot a booner. I have a couple real nice deer but not a book deer. I am passing on a lot of smaller bucks b/c that next buck I shoot I at least want to have a chace of it making the book. I know that the area that I am hunting 1 deer that is a shoe in that goes at least 180 and anther that could be there but I think tops out in the 160s ( I will just have to find our with a tape measurer if he steps out). My point is that gear, trespassers, not seeing the right deer...it is all frustrating. But deer hunting is a frustrating endeveor where you sit for hours and days with perhaps a pay off of 30 seconds. Keep your chin up b/c everythign will turnaround if you stay in the woods...(and get rid of that whisker bisket) I guess if it is really frustrating you then you could alwasy trade in your bow for a set of golf clubs but then agian you might be frustrated every hole...I know I am. Good luck.

Last night I had a big buck come in right at dark to the can call...he grunted about 20 times but unfortunalty I couldn't get a shot in the low/no light. In the morning I had one small buck come by. Some buck movement in the last week but I am not seeing chasing here in Centeral Il (East and West) my buddies that are hunting saying the same thing...that they have not see major chasing in the deer woods yet. I guess it all comes down to haveing a couple does that are getting hot and the bucks going after them. If you got them in your hunt'in spot then you have had some chase activity the last week. Unfortunalty, my areas have not...however, I think the whole state is about to heat up in the next couple days. This delayed rut should make for a lively gun season if it holds off a few more days and extends into the 19th. However, I hope it pops b/c I am getting tired of sitting all day and seeing 1 to 2 little bucks. Drink'in a cup of coffee right now and going our to my stand for a morning hunt. I am on a real hot spot where the big boy came in last night gruntin his head off...hope to have more than words when I return the RT next!!

congratulations!! Nice buck and great story. Sounds like you had some real action in your deer woods.

Was out Friday - Monday. Friday 5 different bucks up on their feet and under my stand. No big boys. Saturday - Monday hunted in Jasper county and had bucks coming to can call but only smaller bucks in the 120 - 130 range. Nothing big but hopefully Tuesday or Wednesday I can lay the smack down on a big boy. Does were laying low and not moving much with the high pressure. I didn't see any hard chasing but bucks were looking for hot does. I think the weather is supposed to change on Friday and borameter to fall...that should help

Great buck!!! Sounds like you need to do some varmit trapping or shooting. 13 coyotes would scare the heck out of me.

That is one good deer. Your buddy must be doing something right.

Went today and picked up a new pack of regular old rage 2 blades. I think they are pretty BA. I wrote rage about the shear off that I had with the head a few weeks ago and we will see what they say. I don't think any need titanium anyway. The regular ones are deadly enough... you can't kill and deer twice and if you put the arrow in the right place they are DOA.

Awsome!! Congrats on a amazing deer. You deserve it.

Great buck!!!! -
I went out on the 20th and no rubs at all in a area that I hunt. Went back on Sunday morning the 24th and saw no less than 15 different rubs on the road leading into that area. Been seeing lots of deer in the mornings. My buddy hunting this morning over a decoy and had 2 130's come in on the decoy. Rut is starting to get kicked off just like clockwork. Tommorow morning should be fun...hope to cross paths with the 180 incher that I am after on the above mentionied farm.

Going up to Morgan County IL on Sunday for the first time. Hunting a big farm (265 acres) that has had just one hunter on it this year. Hope to see a big'one. Anybody hunt up there. I am sure there are some monsters in this area as there was real good sign when we hung stands in early September. Will post pics of the hunt.

I was going to get these until I saw the price. $79.99 for a 3-pack!!! Wow!! Just for that I don't think I am using any more of the rage products. I like them but can't afford that premium price. The extra money is not worth what you get out of them. I had a regular 2-blade break off at the treading a few weeks ago and caused me not to get a complete pass thru. Still recovered the deer but the broad head shouldn't have sheared in half.

The peak of the rut is usually Nov. 1 - 14. However, there are does on either side of this so you should be alright. If you have private land with no hunting pressure then count yourself lucky. Good luck to you and your son.

I think this is completely accurate. Ohio is the place to be!! IL is hunted out for sure. If you are from GA, TN, MS or TN you should head your truck to public land in Southern OH and not Southern IL. I think Rhino would even let you know all his top spots.:clown:

Looks like we are strongly represented by Ohio. I pulled my trail came today and not a buck on there. No sight or sign of the big boy still since July. Good luck to everyone and can't wait to see everyones deer but more importantly hear your deer stories. Good luck to everyone this season and be safe. -Andy

Nice one. That is a great trophy.

Nice deer. You guys really put a hurtin on em.

Ok guys this should be fun we need a name for our team. How about Antler Addicts or Booner Boys? I will let someone else decide. Where is everyone located? I am in Southern IL and will be generally hunting Madison, Jasper, and Johnson Counties this year with bow and shotgun. Might also make some hunts in Montgomery County if I can. Just had a new baby girl (and 2.5 year old boy) but I should be able to get some time up a tree. I have solid 180 incher on my hit list...however I havn't seem him in last 3 weeks.

I know all the brands but I don't own any of them. I do buy the Hunter Specialties scent spray and use a ton of it. I basically spray every part of my body with it. Hair, arms, neck, pants boots, under boots, back of pants. I usually spray my armpits and midsectoin too b/c they create scent. I try to walk to my stand in a slow manner and not prespire. Most of the times I have ever been busted it has been early in the season when it is hot and where I have had to look around for a good tree or not been able to get up high. My real secret is that once I get settled in I smoke a malboro light about every hour. My theory is that the smoke eliminates the body odor and deer are used to smelling smoke. It disipates throught the woods and sort. I am trying to quite smoking but come deer season you have to go with what works. As for scent clothing...I would buy if I thought it worked. But I have my doubts.

I think the U.S. Marines will be in Mexico within the next decade. Just my opinion but I see it happening. The country is so currupt that we ought to just take it over and get our special forces hunting down those cartels. See how they like a Appache Helicopter breating down their throat. If we made it safer down there we could all by ranches down there and mule deer hunt. The mexican's could move to IL and pay the high taxes and I would move down there.

Someone stole my old ladder stand this winter/spring. It was there in Feb. and gone by Turkey Season. It had been there about 10 years. I think I know who did it but can't be sure. What really takes the cake is that I had a deer stolen out of a tree behind out cabin. We were hunting on public ground at Site M in IL. Some jerk came in our camp site running his mouth and the next morning our doe kill was gone. Stole our gambrel too. I was more mad about the gambrel b/c it was a really nice one my grampa had made.
