  1. Yes, I keep the gun loaded, but nothing in the pipe. I do change the rounds to a different mag every few days to keep the springs tight.
  2. Good choices there. Sometimes a beating is worth it though....
  3. You had me scared that they were closing for good...Sorry for the workers there, business is business....
  4. About 35-50 a day. Sometimes I'll do it twice. I know once my sons bow comes in next week, it'll be a little less, but alot more teaching until we are both shooting together!
  5. Awesome. They sure do not issue knives that like anymore. Glad I got mine awhile back while in Korea (2004). I'll issue it to whichever son graduates BCT first...
  6. Personally, I'd buy a new gun to put it on! Seriously, put it in the NEF. The 30-30 should be bare. I have a Marlin 3x9 scope that came with my 30-30 and its sitting in a box, 30-30's should be iron sights imo...
  7. Congrats on the bird! I did get the chance to purchase a leftover tag, so my season went from 5 days to 10! I am hunting the first season and the last....
  8. I was pretty decent when I was a teenager shooting on a father and son team with my dad-averaged 21 with my 870 Express. Now I use my dads 870 Trap Edition. That is the one gun I use that will never, ever see the woods. Grandma bought it for my dad way before I was ever thought of...
  9. Beak Busters sounds good for me. Anyone else been out scouting? Got some birds found, but who knows where they'll move to when season starts...Hope all is well. Eric
  10. Staff Sergeant in the US Army-8 years until I retire and get anoterh career...a much easier one to boot! Still haven't figured out what I want to be when I grow up...
  11. Tri Tronics...They work great in conjunction with proper training. Don't over use it, its a tool, not a crutch.
  12. Dirty Dozen, Beard Busters or Beak Busters are the ones I'll vote for...
  13. I'll add another to list-Beak Busters....Those were some awesome suggestions.
  14. Is this for real? Seriously? Looks like its time to call the reps....
  15. I've shot quite a few different brands over the past 2 years trying to find a good combo. I am another for Gold Tips in either the XT Hunters or my personal favorite the Nugent Series (same specs as the Expedition Hunters). You are on the spine border between 7595 and 5575. Depending on the length of arrow you shoot for your set up-try and experiment with length of arrow and tip weight. I prefer standard diameter arrows vs. the smaller diameter arrow-but thats just me.
  16. Glad to hear he's doing better...They bounce back quickly, eh!?
  17. Me and both of my boys will be there-day to be determined...
  18. Hey team-sorry I didn't get to check in earlier. Had a long week at work and this weekend is my sons 1st birthday! My name is Eric, and I drew period 1 for my zone. Dates for me are 14-18April, already got a place to hunt 10min from home, not to mention the public lands to hunt. Wish everyone well, and trying to get some of the leftover permits bought to ensure my family has some turkey instead of goose for t-giving this year...
  19. Belated, Sorry-But happy birthday...
  20. You are one heck of a dad! Nice looking gun, it really turned out well..
  21. Congrats Team 10, everyone scored! Awesome season for most of us...
  22. I'm voting for clean. That sure is a nice print also!
  23. Depending on condition of bow and strings-575 for the bow, add 75 for quiver, 25-50 for sights depending on the tru-glo model, rest-what brand dictates that price, I would guesstimate about 725-775 out the door for everything. Are you sure the bow will fit your dads draw length and what not? Bring some cotton balls to rub over the limbs to check for cracks and good luck!
  24. For me, its any legal bird-but I only have 1 tag and a 5 day season. If you have 2 tags and the time, be picky with one of them and use the other for first legal bird....
  25. My first turkey was shot in 2008 on public land in WI during the second time period. Shot at 13 yards with my 12ga. 27lbs, 11in beard, 1 1/8in spurs. I'll never top him, but I hope to add to him this year!
