I raise chickens, not for myself, but for a chicken company, got three chicken houses, total capacity for the 3 houses,75,000 birds. That is a whole lotta poop, and it tends to stink in the summer.

What were the deer hitting most in food plot?
deerslayer79 replied to smo's topic in Land & Wildlife Management
Ditto on the turnips,The daggone deer have resorting to pulling them up and eatin the greens and the turnip both.I can't hardly walk across some of my food plots without twistin my ankle on half eaten turnip bulbs. -

Another gun company gets bought.

Have heard some positive and negative feedback from this.I am being a touch optimistic,I believe that soon that: 1.prices are going to skyrocket for Marlins,H+R,and NEF 2.Remmy is going to expand Marlins line up with more calibers ect... 3.Quality control is going to plummet,I hope not,But a lot of Remmy fans on the internet are sayin that Remmington's aren't the same as they were 10yrs ago. -
I am glad I bought 25 cases of Round Up Pro Concetrate in Oct.Bought it at a good price too.Ain't surprising though next year in my area a bag of R.U.ready corn will be about $175-$200 bucks.

Cerberus Inc.,the company that owns Remington,Bushmaster,DPMS,now owns Marlin,H+R,NEF.Just seen it on another forum yesterday.

I have done that a lot in the past,10years at the butcher shop I worked for for extra money,we would do like sometimes 10-15 hogs a night, the same way also, except we used a splittin saw instead of a axe, although I have swung a axe a couple times.I remember that some weekends in January, and Febuary,me and the 3 guys that worked there would be scalding hogs and it would be so cold that we stuck our hands and feet in the scalding tank to warm them up,regular knee boots are cold puppies when its like 3 degrees out side. Cool pics.

You can do a Dormant basal treatment,it works when the plant has gone dormant.First take a backpack or pump sprayer with a adjustable tip and set it for a medium spray pattern.Fill with your chemical of choice,i.e. cordon blue,Garlon3a or 4.Start at the base,or root collar, and spray the full diameter of the tree and up 12-14inches.should be dead by next years greenup.

At the wrong time,I dropped the hammer on a real hefier of a doe last night, and after the shot, the doe was still standing there, and the crosshairs of my scope were tilted a good 20 degrees, needless to say,my evening was done.I have 2 choices for a new scope, but input is needed.Scope #1 is a bushnell elite 3200 tactical straight 10x40,I know I don't need a tactical scope, but reviews say they are very, very tough and at $160 a good deal.Scope #2 is a Pentax 3.5x10x50 game seeker with a BDC recticle for $150.I am on a budget, just bought a house, and christmas is close, but I need it a month from now.I don't know much about pentax optics either.BTW,this rifle is my reach out and touch something rig.

I use 150gr nosler ballistic tips in my 7mm Weatherby mag, good shot placement with those jaspers,no tracking what so ever.just don't hit a bone, they will make a mess.I believe that berger makes a hunting style round, but they are mostly maketing towards paper punchers. Many folks say that Match type bullets aren't good hunting bullets, but a friend of mine uses 168gr sierra matchkings in his 308,and hasn't lost a deer yet when shot in the vital area.

Owner of the house/farm are the brother and sister in law of the hunters, the apple doesn't fall to far from the tree if ya know what I mean.

I only found a few blood drops where a couple of them ran across a small ditch to my property, followed on the field edge and lost it after a 100yds or so.went into a trail near the last spot of blood, walked in about 75yds or so but nuffin, sad to say,but MD. DNR said nothing thay could do,isn't the first time I heard that statement for the local DNR guys, shot during legal hours,no laws broke.I even asked the officer to go talk to them or something,he had no real interest it seemed like.

Your only going to need that one shot,I have the Ultra slug hunter in 12ga and it is very lethal. They can be finicky though so find a load it likes and stick with it.Mine loves the 2 3/4in lightfield hybred EXP's.

Sat the 23 of Nov. was the first day of Maryland gun season. The morning turned out to be rather dead,no action what so ever, afternoon wasn't,it was rather somewhat sickening.I was sitting on stand covering to small fields,I was also high enough to also see over on the field next door only maybe 200yds away,at about 5:00pm,Iwatched through my binoculars, the jerks next door,3 guys who also have no idea of ethics, decide to open fire on 6 Does crossing between them and a house, dumb yes ,but this part really cooks my nerves, three guys unload on these six does and fired about 12 rounds in 7-10 seconds, deer are jumping, falling down, and crawling trying to make it towards my farms property line, and the woods some 75yds away. All said and done, two deer down and kickin the rest made it to the woods were they came from.I then saw them finish off the two does and load them up,AND NEVER EVEN ATTEMPTED TO TRACK THE OTHERS ,yep, loaded the 2 and went to the truck, never seen them since.I returned sunday Morning and saw no sign of them.
