    Thanks snapper...
  2. Thanks for the input. I ended up calling around to a couple of smaller1 local shops and for the most part it was a pretty competative price. So, instead of rushing into a buy I wasn't 100% certain I passed and will keep an eye out.
  3. 29 lbs?!?!??!?!!! Did you shoot it around Holt or someplace north? That's a monster! Congrats!
  4. Congrats! Its the unique ones we remember the most...
  5. It sorta like turkey or duck hunting. You're the decoy when you stand there and watch to see if the mosquites come in! LOL
  6. Spaghetti-O's - can't stand 'em any more but my kids love 'em. I can name about 10 foods that are just the opposite, though. Couldn't stand them as a kid but love'em now - ie, fresh tomatos, black olives, green olives, mushrooms, mayonaise, sour cream, stuff like that.

    Cocoon?

Bagworm for sure. Pretty neat how their camoflauge makes them look like a pine cone.
  8. Sounds like the right idea to me. 150 isn't all that far away but if the geography of the land sounds like it might play in your favor. Good luck!
  9. Can't say I'm a flat out yes. It should be a very personal and well thought through decision. I believe the family can choose to donate or not for the individual so its best to make your wishes known.
  10. Lookin' good! I agree - she needs a bow and a full set of camo for her birthday. LOL
  11. Well stated, Clay, well stated.
  12. I realize you posted this originally 3 weeks ago, Jeramie, but I had to say I know exactly what you mean. Its an easy thing to let life "get in the way." Between work, having a young family, and trying to find some "you" time it can really wear you out. It will often start cutting into a guys spiritual life before we even realize it. Hang in there and do what you can to make time to draw closer to Him. He promises if we show we want to get to know Him better, He won't hold himself from us.
  13. Gotta give him credit for taking on a tedious task! LOL $1.70 a pound for brass is awefully hard work for a belly full of lead. Maybe he'll buy himself a pair of plyers... ... ... Naw, I don't get the feeling he'd have that much sense.
  14. Can't top that guys. Closest I can come was it was altercall. We had a young man coming to church whom already spent time in jail and he was only 17. He was sitting right in front of us. He stood up, did one of those full body stretches, passed out, and fell HARD down into the wooden pew, stricking his head, the whole works. It was a quiet little Baptist church of less than 75 people and this rattled the windows! At first I wasn't sure if people were sprinting to get their souls right or where they were headed! Its amazing what God'll use to get you to examine your fragility - even if some unknown "explosion" in a small room.

If that's the case I am interested, Pudd. I'll wait for you to contact me...
  16. I hope this is an appropriate place for this question. My wife isn't a hunter and claims she'll never will be. If that is the case I'm more than happy to accept that. I already know pressuring her would be couterproductive (or worse). However, is there any ladies out there whom felt this way but now hunt? What was it that got you interested enough to try it and stick with it? Your advice will be appreciated.
  17. I thought that post looked familiar! LOL I'm still learning but from what I've learned turkeys will more frequently roost in a general area night over night versus the same tree. A lot of factors will influence where they move into to roost - you'd have to consider all of those and try to anticipate where they'll be headed. Another thing I've learned is silent birds don't mean disinterested birds. Its easier to stay encouraged and enthusiastic when you hear them going off but if you now for a fact they are there I'd work them. Stay on the conservative side of calling until the woods dictates something different - say, a vocal hen gets them fired up. Then just imitate her. As far as roosting - get in early in the general vicinity you think they'll come through and listen. Listen for the wing beats, etc. If you're moving around a lot while they try to go to roost you'll bump them into a different area for the night futher worsening your frustration. For what its worth!
  18. That is a bummer but a lesson that won't soon be forgot! I shot my first bird this year, dropped him at 26 yards. I was so excited and trying not to spook another bird behind me so my brother might get a shot I didn't rack in a fresh shell. At one point I thought mine was going to get back up but it was just part of the roll. Your story is a great illustration for others to pay attention until the bird is in hand. Thanks for sharing!
  19. How far up the hill was the other guy - you'll be competeing for the same birds. If the distances is acceptable I'd sure head back out there... especially with fresh and old sign being in the same spot. It sounds like you'd have the better set-up.
  20. I'm not that familiar with the 22-250. I'm going to have to do some research on it. Who makes an affordable model? Not cheap but affordable. Other suggests greatly appreciated as well.
