Congrats Frank! I don't have anything to report. I've seen a lot of deer but nothing I want to put a tag on yet. I have an doe permit for one of the WMA's I hunt that is good until Jan. 7. I'm going to do my level best to fill it this weekend. I can't upload pictures either. Not sure what's up with that. I'll check back in later on to see if there are any other updates. If not, its been a good run here at RT. Hate to see the site in the state it is now but there's no sense in crying over spilt milk. Hope you guys and gals have many more successful hunting seasons in the future.

Made my first sit this past Sunday on some of the public land I hunt. Had a buck with about 8" spikes walk by right after I got settled. Beings the WMA I was on has a 1 buck limit, the spike got a pass. The wind swirled and another deer caught my scent, never seen it but heard it blow.

Saturday was the bow opener but with temps reaching the mid 90's I elected to stay home. We have a cold front moving in Thursday and temps are supposed to be in the low 50's Sunday morning. I'll be in the woods somewhere, just not sure exactly where.

I hunt public land so I won't be able to share any pics unless I take some while out in the woods. Good luck this year guys!

I'm in.

I'll play along on deer contest. It's been a year or maybe a little over a year since I've checked in here. Did William leave? He's been the one running the deer contest for awhile now.

Check check...123...Check check.... Can you hear me? Awfully quite around these parts.

Awesome buck Al! I haven't had much luck so far. Only been able to get out in the woods a few times so far. Had one shooter slip behind me at about 30 yards and caught my wind.

You guys have some really nice deer. I'd like to hunt one of the mid-west states one of these years. Saturday is our gun opener. I'll be hunting some Corps land on the Neches River WMA. This is where I cut my teeth on hunting when I was a teenager and have killed many a deer and hog in those woods. It's going to be a cold boat ride but I'm looking forward to it.

Good to see you check back in Gator! Congrats on your marriage and sorry to hear about the loss of your daughter. The Childress area is one of my favorite spots in the state. I hunted the Matador WMA there a few years ago.

Good looking bucks there Al!

I'm not sure what qualifies one being an OG but I'm in my 14th year on these forums. Original username was hogdawg, then The_Dawg (a play on The_Kat's username) and now it's just Dawg. I don't frequent the forums as much as I used to. Between my full time job, my personal business I started last year and family there's not much time for anything else. This was the very first forum I joined and still get the "home" feeling when I log in. You guys were the first to go along on my first muley hunt in Colorado and the hunts in the following years. The forums aren't what they used to be but that's alright. Sometimes the camaraderie gets lost when there's too much going on.

Sounds like you have an eventful season ahead of you Al. Hope you have some of those "wow" bucks show up!

Just got through reading this. Hate you had to deal with all that but glad you are making mends, William.

Awesome! Good luck this year, Al! As of now I don't have any major hunts scheduled. I've applied for several of the Texas draw hunts and will find out in a couple of weeks if I drew any of them. If not, I'll be spending my hunting season on public lands around here.

She likes me for my personality. 2023 would be perfect for Colorado deer. Dad and I lost the private land that we've been hunting for several years up there. The family sold most of it and the little bit they held on to they turned over to an outfitter who in turn jacked the prices up. I wanted to try to make something happen this year on public land up there but no dice. If you are serious about it shoot me your number and let's get somethings rolling ahead of time.

Thanks William!

Haven't seen you post in awhile. Did you draw any out of state tags this year? I put in for a couple dozen of the TPWD draw hunts, couldn't swing any out of state hunts this year.

In the words of the great philosopher Doc Holiday....."There's no normal life Wyatt, it's just life. Get on with it." That quote has been my moto for the last couple years now and has helped me make it through some of the darkest days of my life. The spring of 2019 saw an end to the marriage I was in for 18 years. 18 years (20 total counting the dating years) gone, what seemed like overnight. Many lonely nights staring at the night sky wondering why. However, it was an uncontested split and everything went as smooth as it could monetarily and materially wise. She and I are still friends and co-parents. She married again in the fall of 2020. Her husband and I have become hunting and fishing buddies. I stayed "single" for most of 2020 with a few dates here and there. That all changed in August of 2020 when I met a girl who kept me intrigued. This girl wasn't one of the typical "dates". She soon gained my full attention. I began asking myself "Is this too soon?" "Am I ready to commit to another relationship with the wounds of the divorce still a little fresh?" The more I talked to her, the more I went on dates with her, the more time I spent with her soon gave me the answer I was looking for.......no it's not too soon and yes you are ready. She and I talked and dated for a few months before making it a steady relationship. We spent the holidays together, introduced one another to each of our families and by the spring of this year I was ready to pop the question. In April I booked a condo in Galveston for 4 days. Wined and dined her....probably a little more than I should have LOL.....and popped the question. Thankfully she said yes otherwise the obscene amount of money I spent would have stung pretty bad! We had a small wedding at the beginning of the summer with plans on having a larger ceremony next year. When I thought my best days were behind me she came into my life and made me realize the best days are far from over. She 100% supports me in everything I do. From hunting and fishing endeavors to nearly bankrupting myself starting a new business venture. She's been right by my side, encouraging me and pushing me when I've wanted to just give up on the business. Not only did I gain a wonderful spouse, I gained 2 bonus kids too. She has a daughter that is the same age as my daughter and a 5 year old special needs son who keeps us on our toes. I'm loving every minute of it!

I'm several days late.....ok so like a month lol......but if there's room somewhere throw me in.

Congrats Martin and Frank! I'm having trouble getting pictures uploaded. I use Tapatalk app on my phone and can't get it to connect to these forums so I tried emailing them to myself from my phone so I could upload them from the computer at work and phone won't send the email. If there is one of y'all that I could text the pictures to let me know so we can get these points added to the board.
