  1. Spent all day Saturday neck deep in the Neches River. Didn't hit a lick all day Sunday and it felt great!

    Here comes the heat

Same down here in southeast TX. Been hot and muggy for a few months now. Heat index yesterday was 107.
  3. On my last day of the graveyard shift....should head home around 5am tomorrow morning get a few hours sleep then have to be in Beaumont (hour away) at 2pm. After that we don't have much planned. Have to mow the yard at some point but with temps in the low to mid 90's and heat indices reaching triple digits there ain't much I want to do outside lol.
  4. Siemens makes a protector for phone lines as well....the FSPHONE protection.
  5. Or one of these. You can also buy the coaxial surge protector with this one: https://www.amazon.com/Siemens-FS100-Whole-Protection-Device/dp/B013WINLIO
  6. Invest in one of these: https://www.intermatic.com/en/surge-protection/whole-house-surge/ig2240-imsk
  7. Got an all day sales event tomorrow in Alexandria, LA, 5 hour round trip from home. Supposed to rain all weekend so there won't be much outdoor activity going on here. Working the graveyard shift next week.....fun fun!
  8. It's nice not having to front the money at the time of applying....that part I like.....it's the increased number of applicants that it caused that I don't like lol
  9. The new online application process for Colorado caused a significant increase in applicants due to not having to dish out the money up front. I don't really like it. The weather over the last few years hasn't helped the deer and elk populations either and if it continues this trend we may see CO reducing number of tags each year. That coupled with the new app process will result in slimmer chances of getting drawn, imo.
  10. I'm pretty sure he uses the same name on 24hourcampfire.com but I can't find anything on a grizzly hunt. Can see where he mentioned grizzlies in convos but nothing on a hunt.
  11. Yes sir it is. Thanks William!
  12. Results for Colorado draw are out. I drew a 3rd rifle season private land buck tag for GMU 741. Leaving out 10/31/18....and it can't get here fast enough!
  13. Family reunion tomorrow at Mill Creek Park on the lake. Afterwards I have some friends coming up and we'll find a sandy spot somewhere, beach the boats, set up the BBQ pit, burn some meat and let the kids swim. Nothing more planned as of now, just going to wing it.

    Crazy weather

Y'all keep all that ice and snow up there! We are in a strange weather pattern down here.....warm, cool, warm, cool.....not record breaking cold but unseasonal for sure. Worst part is we are getting into the typical spring pattern where it rains almost every weekend. That puts a damper on lawn maintenance and my fishing/camping time!
  15. Yes sir, same thing I thought. We didn't stay the full length of the hunt due to some obligations at home popping up. Probably could have scratched one out if we could have stayed the full 5 days. This won't keep me from applying again though.
  16. CO mule deer application put in last week. Fingers crossed! Looks like CPW is reducing the amount of elk tags again this year. Pretty much blows my chance at an OTC cow elk tag this year.
  17. I agree on the eyes. Makes them look alien-like. Nice buck!
  18. We didn't see a single deer. There were, I think, 20 hunters on the 28K acres. Out of that only 8 doe were killed and one hog.
  19. Texas hasn't seen an increase on basic licenses since 2010 and no noticeable decline in sales. Here's an article Realtree published about increased license sales albeit the data is going on 4 years old: https://business.realtree.com/business-blog/hunting-license-numbers-increased-2016 The sky isn't falling.

    Music....staind

Ahahahahahahaha.........I don't even remember this convo but it's freakin hilarious. Yep, I'm bored and am reading 5+ year old threads....
  21. It can get pricey if you want it too in Texas. For me it's pretty straight forward.......hunting license with HIP certification, freshwater fishing combo.
  22. If it's legal in the state/county/parish where you live, more power to you. I live in Jasper County, TX and it is illegal to trail a wounded deer with a dog but there are many counties in TX where it is perfectly legal to do so. If it's illegal in the state/county/parish where you live and you do it anyway, yep you are breaking the law. Call it what you will, poacher, outlaw, criminal.....bottom line is you are breaking the law.
  23. Please fix the issue with Tapatalk. I can view the forums but it is not allowing me to log in and post from the app.
