Ripped this off from Mike Waddell's blog....Don't know how old it is, or if it has been posted here or not, but, it's a good article. Charlie Daniels on Barack Obama Guns and Church Since I identify with the people who fall into Barack Obama’s elitist description about people of faith who keep firearms I’m not very happy with Barack Obama’s recent remarks. He said something to the effect that us rednecks cling to our guns and our religion when we get frustrated and I would like to take umbrage to these remarks. My faith goes much deeper than his superficial explanation and I love my guns even when I’m not frustrated. And I am not by myself. I was going to church and shooting guns before Mr. Obama was even born and come from a long line of good people who have been doing it for generations. To me this latest Obama blunder only helps reveal the depth of condescension the far left wing of the Democrat party has for the folks out here in flyover country. Mr. Obama’s remarks are insulting to a lot of folks. It’s kind of like Abraham Lincoln said, ‘God must love the common people because He made so many of them’. His remarks make me think that Obama doesn’t know the people of this country very well. I’m sure he knows the jet set and the Hollywood bunch, the limousine liberals and the save the whales, kill the babies crowd, but does he think that the ordinary people don’t count? Does he think that they’re so stupid that they don’t know who he’s talking about when he says these things? Does he think their opinions aren’t important? Apparently. How can a man stand in front of America and tell people what he wants to do for them and have so little respect for a whole segment of the population? In fact, a very large segment. Does that mean that he would only represent the high-minded liberal ideals of the far left and ignore the rest of us? What kind of Commander and Chief would he make if he doesn’t respect the very people who make up the lion’s share of the armed forces? You may say I’m over reacting, but I’m getting sick and tired of him making these elitist statements and saying that he had been taken out of context or some other flimsy excuse. After his wife’s remark about not being proud of this country and his pastor’s statements calling America the U.S.K.K.K.A. and his own statement about not wanting his daughter punished with a baby, it makes me wonder what kind of a man Obama really is and what kind of a President he’d make. Would he be an antigun advocate pushing the effort to take the firearms out of innocent citizen’s hands? Would he not respect the religious beliefs of America, not taking them into account in his agenda? I really don’t know much about the man and neither does America. He basically came from out of nowhere and as the facts come out little by by little, they don’t make a particularly confident picture. I have a great fear that if our military gets broken by another president, this time we’re not going to have time to fix it again and what that spells for America, I don’t even want to contemplate. Oh well, I guess I’ll grab my gun and go to church. Pray for our troops. What do you think? God Bless America Charlie Daniels

I don't think they should air it as an official McCain ad. People will cheapen it as soon as they hear "this ad paid for by....and I approve this message...." The more people we have speaking up on their own behalf without it seeming like a paid endorsement, the better. Lefties feed off of that "paid endorsement" and will trash this heroic individual to no end, thus losing sight of his message. Just my opinion...

I saw that first video and my eyes were playing tricks on me. I thought to myself "what in the heck is that dude doing out there squatting in that cowboy hat?" Turns out, the cowboy hat was the antelopes butt. I seriously just woke up about 10 minutes ago. Great pics by the way! Looked like a lot of fun.

Yep, they goofed on a video I ordered one time and the person on the phone was just as helpful as they could be. If you don't have good customer service, you don't have a good business. Often times I will skip the big stores and pay a little more for something I need simply because the local businesses are staffed with much nicer and helpful people.

Sorry, same message from the same hollywood elite. He can talk candor and character all he wants (John McCain has all of those traits also) but that's not what I am worried about. What I am worried about is what Barack Obama will instill into this nation as policy, along with all of his other liberal elites. It is possible to have the aforementioned personal traits and make the wrong decisions. Which I feel he will do. I certainly hope this nation will wake up and quit basing decisions on what Hollywood says as a last hope.

Ever try to battle a 4 and 5 year old over cartoons or a hunting show? Guess who wins. I watch them later. Every now and then they give in and I get to watch at the preferred time.

Al Gore goes for whatever side is profitable for Al Gore. However, I am looking forward to a lot of snow this winter.

Chilling Facts The nation's oldest continuously published periodical is not only forecasting a cooler winter, but says we can expect a period of global cooling in the coming decades. The 2009 issue of the Old Farmer's Almanac hits newsstands Tuesday. It says, "Sunspot cycles and their effects on oceans correlate with climate changes. Studying these and other factors suggest that cold, not warm, climate may be our future." The periodical's editor-in-chief says global cooling trends could affect the earth for the next half century, depending on man's influence. The Almanac, which was established in 1792 and has 18.5 million readers, predicts heavy snow this winter from the Ozarks into Southern New England. It also forecasts snow for parts of Northern Texas. — FOX News Channel's Zachary Kenworthy contributed to this report.

Been there, done that. Had one on my hand right at the cuticle of my fingernail. Hurt like crazy when they froze it. Wishing you a speedy recovery! I have excema on my hands now and the medicine that the doc gave me dries them out to where they crack and peel, no matter how much lotion I use. My hands have band-aids all over them with neosporin. Sucks. Again, hope it heals up quick.

Got a request for some more info on the park...Here it is: http://www.fossilrim.org/index.php Nice place to visit and spend the day. Restaurant on site is reasonable too. It's in Glenrose, TX about an hour or so west of Ft. Worth. No guns allowed.. Just an idea on price: For 7 adults and 4 kids it was $220. Plus another $14 for two bags of food for two cars. The whole trip is mostly done at about 10 mph or so. Save yourself the aggravation, let the kids out of the seat belts. I let mine take turns driving on my lap.

Not really. Pretty common actually. Pro's and con's though definitely. Here's a little tidbit from a Fox news article.. “Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are so large and so interwoven in our financial system that a failure of either of them would cause great turmoil in our financial markets here at home and around the globe,” Paulson said, speaking at a press conference in Washington D.C. on Sunday morning. “A failure would affect the ability of Americans to get home loans, auto loans and other consumer credit and business finance." The Sunday announcement and themes of "too big to fail" brought stark reminders of the government’s March intervention of Bear Stearns, which came within hours of filing for bankruptcy. It also brings both Fannie Mae, which was created by Congress during the Great Depression to help with home ownership, and Freddie Mac, created in 1970 as a competitor to Fannie Mae, back into the fold of the government after a multi-decade attempt at privatization. As part of the plan, both Fannie and Freddie’s day-to-day operations will be under the direction of Lockhart. Officials provided no indication of when the government conservatorship will end – that will be up to the health of the U.S. housing economy as well as the next administration. "Conservatorship will give the enterprises time to restore the balances between safety and soundness and provide affordable housing and stability and liquidity to the mortgage markets," Lockhart said. As part of the government's plan of taking over the companies, and to protect taxpayers, Paulson said the Treasury will receive $1 billion in senior preferred stock, with a yield of 10% a year, in both Fannie and Freddie, and will also receive "warrant for the purchase of common stock of each company representing 79.9% of the common stock of each company on a fully-diluted basis at a nominal price." The government’s plan will close to wipe out any worth that common or preferred stock holders have in the two mortgage companies. All dividends for Fannie and Freddie will be eliminated, Paulson said. All company political lobbying efforts will cease as well. While under the direction of the government, the two companies will then take additional mortgage-backed securities to help stabilize the mortgage markets through the end of 2009, Paulson said. As the market begins to recover in 2010, both Fannie and Freddie will reduce the size of their mortgage portfolios at a rate of 10% a year. The ultimate goal is to reduce the size of Fannie and Freddie's mortgage holdings -- around $1.5 billion altogether -- to about $250 billion each. Now because the government controls the liabilities of Fannie and Freddie, it could potentially cost the taxpayers billions of dollars in losses. However, Paulson emphasized that, because of the long-term value of these securities, the taxpayer would have “a large stake in the future value of these entities.” "The ultimate cost to the taxpayer will depend on the business results of (Fannie and Freddie) going forward," Paulson said. The plan was endorsed and planned in cooperation with the Federal Reserve and Congress, including House Financial Committee Chairman Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass. “These necessary steps will help to strengthen the U.S. housing market and promote stability in our financial markets,” said Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke in a statement. Rating agency Standard & Poor's affirmed Fannie and Freddie's long-term AAA credit rating. "We believe the government has now clearly reinforced its support of (Fannie and Freddie)," said S&P's credit analyst Victoria Wagner, in a statement. Democratic Presidential Candidate Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., said "given the substantial role that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac play in our housing system, I believe that some form of intervention is necessary to prevent a larger and deeper crisis throughout the entire economy." The implications to consumers and taxpayers are not immediately clear. Unlike the bailout of Chrysler in the early 1980s or the Airlines after 9/11 where the amount of money loaned to Corporate America was clear, the U.S. government could be on the hooks for potential losses that could linger for years. Paulson could not provide an estimate of how much the plan would cost taxpayers. Mortgage rates are expected to be unaffected in the short-term.

12,000 American Flags Found in Trash after Dem Convention
nativetexan replied to nativetexan's topic in Politics
Sounds like both of them need to be schooled up on the Flag code...Apparently McCain autographed one of them. Which is against the flag code. Bush also. All you need to know: http://www.ushistory.org/betsy/flagetiq.html Flag Disposal: Ceremony of Final Tribute: Only one flag should be used in the ceremony, which is representative of all the flags to be burned in the service. The remainder of the flags collected should be incinerated. A corporate, government, or military incinerator or furnace can usually be found for this purpose. The ceremony should be conducted out-of-doors, preferably in conjunction with a campfire program, and it should be very special. The ceremony involves two color guards, one for the flag currently in use and a special color guard for the flag to be retired from service. Of course, this may be adapted if conditions necessitate. Just before sunset the flag which has been flying all day is retired in the normal ceremonial procedure for that location or group. The color guard responsible for the flag receiving the final tribute moves to front and center. The leader should present this color guard with the flag which has been selected for its final tribute and subsequent destruction. The leader should instruct the color guard to "hoist the colors." Leader comments: (when the flag has been secured at the top of the pole) "This flag has served its nation well and long. It has worn to a condition in which it should no longer be used to represent the nation." "This flag represents all of the flags collected and being retired from service today. The honor we show here this evening for this one flag, we are showing for all of the flags, even those not physically here." The leader should: Call the group to attention; Order a salute; Lead the entire group in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag; and Order the flag retired by the color guard. Slowly and ceremoniously lower and then respectfully fold the flag in the customary triangle. Deliver the flag to the leader and then dismiss the group. [*]This concludes the Ceremony of Final Tribute "Ceremonial Burning" Fire Preparation: It is important that the fire be sizable -- preferably having burnt down to a bed of red hot coals to avoid bits of the flag being carried off by a roaring fire -- yet be of sufficient intensity to ensure complete burning of the flag. Flag Preparation: The color guard assigned to the flag opens up it tri-corner fold and then refolds the flag in a coffin-shaped rectangle. When all is ready: Assemble around the fire. The leader calls the group to attention. The color guard comes forward and places the flag on the fire. All briskly salute. After the salute, but while still at attention, the leader should conduct a respectful memorial service as the flag burns. National Flag Foundation recommends singing "God Bless America" followed by an inspiring message of the flag's meaning followed by the "Pledge of Allegiance" and then silence. When the flag is basically consumed, those assembled, with the exception of the leader and the color guard, should be dismissed single file and depart in silence. The leader and the color guard remain until the flag is completely consumed. The fire should then be safely extinguished and the ashes buried. Nope, not at all. All I am trying to point out is that if people come to a board where most people are not going to vote Democrat and ask for justification on their decision, don't be surprised when the vast majority disagree. I would certainly not take my ball and go home either. If you vote Obama, then vote Obama. It's your right. Not everyone else will agree with the decision, especially here and with what's at stake. That's not a threat, that is a fact and common sense, and it was proven WELL before I came along here. I agree with your "politics as usual" statement. However, it is well known that libs have a nasty streak to them and will play dirty accordingly. Normally it is a group of young misguided people that are trucking along with their hippie friends and Hollywood because its cool. Really, it sickens me.

Like I said...TANK. Of course your hunting may not be very good afterwards..

12,000 American Flags Found in Trash after Dem Convention
nativetexan replied to nativetexan's topic in Politics
Actions are cheap anymore John. It's easier to set up a website to prove your patriotism rather than actually proving it by actions. Sickening eh? -
Well, it pretty much sounds like you made up your mind on how you are going to pay for your healthcare...as I already said previously. You are absolutely right it is your right to vote for him. All I am telling you in a nutshell is: 1. Your hunting days are numbered 2. Your gun ownership rights are in jeopardy 3. Socialized healthcare is a burden on our society. If that puts you in that category, then so be it. Sorry, but my theory stands, and the voting records of the democrats is my proof. 4. Your taxes are going to go up, and go up big to pay for all of these programs. Ain't nothing free in this world. I would expect to get the same response I was typing if I were on here saying "hey guys, i'm going to vote your taxes up!" Now those people who are scraping by are now giving more to pay for your healthcare. That my friend, is taking food out of a babies mouth, a tank of gas away from someone, or whether the lights will stay on. But it's all about you and how you are going to pay your medical bills right?
-
That's the same one I got. Syn and blued w/accu-trigger. Can't wait to go shoot them.
-
Soooo the truth comes out. Let me get this right, because you have 4 times more health problems than the rest of us, and it has cost you more out of your own pocket, somehow you are angry about that and feel that the rest of us should have to pay your medical care? Sounds childish, immature, jealous, and whatever other description I could think of along those lines. Nobody is telling you to NOT vote for Obama, what I am telling you is that you are voting for him for all the wrong reasons, and that the others here are educating you from their viewpoint. We already know about Obama. I would say that most of us are well schooled on the negative concerning him. If I were you, I would educate yourself a little more on socialized medicine and the countries in which socialism is and was practiced.

12,000 American Flags Found in Trash after Dem Convention
nativetexan replied to nativetexan's topic in Politics
Unfortunately I think this is all too common. I can't remember how many of those window flag things I picked up off the side of the road after 9/11. In fact, my father in law has a weather beaten flag in front of his house and my wife mentioned he needed a new one. He said he would have gotten one by now, but he didn't want to just throw it away. I told him to take it to his local VFW post and they will dispose of it properly. That is probably what will happen with these 12,000 flags. Thanks Dems for giving our VFW members something to be proud of with the honor of disposing of these flags. Hopefully, they will gather the boy scouts to assist with it. Good learning experience. They will NEVER forget having to dispose of so many flags. Realistically, I would keep them for other occassions also if they are still in good shape after this next thing in Colorado Springs.
