  1. Prayers on the way for all of you!
  2. What I can tell you is that there is a lot going on behind the scenes that will not make it to mainstream media for one reason or the other. Usually because of security, media fallout, or an ongoing investigation. If you look at the forensic side of things, a cache of weapons or WMD's is more than likely laced with tons of intel. To add that to mainstream knowledge is basically telling terrorists that they need to step up their game worldwide. If they were stupid, we would be done with this already. For example (again), lets say that our troops found a nuclear weapon on its way to the U.S. It is on the news and the media is hailing the troops for a job well done. In the meantime, the citizens of this country are freaking out at how close it came which will add undue pressure to whatever investigation is going on and create an overall state of paranoia. Tell me how that is productive? To put it just a hair more in perspective, do you guys honestly think that NOBODY knows where Osama Bin Laden is? If I were a bettin' man, I might think that they know exactly where he is, but taking him down would not lead to his associates (much less successors) would it? Think if they get him in custody that he will just spill everything??? Some folks just need to let the military and intelligence communities do their jobs.
  3. By the way, just so you guys don't think I am a total jerk "Grinch," we buy gifts every year for military kids who have a parent deployed, or are in a financial hardship situation.
  4. I just got back from Borders book store and bought Glenn Beck's An Inconvenient Book. While I was there, I started feeling nauseated at the sheer amount of Obama (and family) material they have in there. No matter which way I turned...Obama this, Obama that. Calendars, Pens, Books, Posters, Cards, Magazines, the list goes on. Madness. In preparation for my move to Spain, I visited the travel section and grabbed a travel book to familiarize myself. After finding one I liked, I caught myself flipping through it to make sure no Obama propaganda had been either published, or slipped in somehow. After all, he is the leader of the world now. I must make sure that my viewpoint of the area I will be living is not skewed by any b.s. that may pop out. You know, something like Frommers Travel Guide of Spain...Fold out poster of President Elect of the World Barack Obama included! Anyway, so I grab my book and head over to the politics section and lo and behold, Glenn Beck's book is on the end of the aisle with a sign over it that says "Election '08 The People have spoken!" I said to myself "Self, get your book and get out of here immediately before you say something and get thrown out." Not following my own advice, I realized I was thirsty, and meandered over to the coffee shop to get an overpriced coffee..Regular..10 sugars, a splash of half and half...The young white male behind the counter (with dreadlocks) handed me my coffee and smirked a little when he saw the book I was holding. I repeated silently the words that I had already told myself just a few minutes earlier, and headed to the register to pay for my books. Arriving at the register, I felt relieved that the sugar in my coffee had calmed me down. You see, caffeine and sugar have the opposite effect on me. Now, I am in line. Some poor guy in front of me with 4 kids in tow that were touching everything was obviously feeling the same way I was when I was having an Obameltdown..complete with sweating, shaking, and heart palpitations. Thank god for coffee. I heard a voice from the far end of the counter beckon me. My torture was nearly over. Arriving at the counter I kept my mouth closed. Not feeling particularly friendly, I mumbled hello and handed the cashier my credit card. "Would you like to buy a book for the Camden Children's Christmas Project Sir?" Again, not feeling particularly friendly and a lot less charitable, in my best Ebenezer Scrooge voice I simply replied "No"...even though inside I wanted to fly over the counter with my best move straight from the WWE. Once I said "no", the friendly service was over, and I wondered to myself if this young lady and Mr. Dreadlocks from the coffee shop held hands and skipped over to the voting booth the day Dear Leader was elected. I snatched up my bag and left the store. Hearing that door close behind me was like hearing the gates close behind a newly released convict. I felt like I needed a bath. Maybe scrub myself with Ajax or something. I threw my books in the backseat and stood there in the parking lot having a smoke and sipping my overpriced coffee. Perusing the parking lot I observed people lumbering out of stores with bags upon bags slung over one arm, fumbling with cell phones, and pushing buttons on their keychains..bleep bleep! With some creative timing, we could have conducted a symphony with keyless entry remotes. Although this is not really important...much less relevant. Ever get that feeling someone is watching? While I was standing there, it seemed as if all of the hippies inside were peaking through the blinds to see "The Conservative." "Look! It smokes! That is horrible for the planet! Which reminds me, is this coffee conflict free?" the hippie says. I turn around quick to see the blinds quickly close as if I didn't KNOOOOW they were looking. For just a fleeting moment, I was more famous than Sasquatch. Maybe I should set up an office and I could do speeches from a podium emblazened with "The Office of the Man as Famous as Sasquatch...Elect." It was time to go. My brain had played too many tricks on me in the short period I had been in that store. I jumped in my German car as a famous person would. You know, perfect..with style and panache. Turned the engine over, put on my seat belt, and reached for a sip of coffee before braving the Christmas Shopper Autobahn and promptly spilled my conflict free, hippie served, overpriced, and obviously rigged to explode by the far left coffee all over myself. Long story short, if you go to Border's...Be prepared. Take a Xanax or something..and stay away from the coffee.
  5. Just shows the complacency people have with their government.
  6. That's great. So how do you propose to fix the problem without trampling on other's rights that had nothing to do with the situation at hand? Do you honestly believe that throwing more laws at something will fix it? That's ridiculous. It's like throwing money at a near bankrupt auto industry. Nothing will fix a problem until the offenders are removed from this situation. The law is written. Plain and simple. The over emotional will cry for a banning. But these are also the people who don't have the stomach to realize that this life is full of tragedy. Often times I imagine these people trying to ban a natural death and calling for more money and research to keep people alive forever simply so they don't have to feel emotion in a negative sense. Much less take into account whatever irresponsible action took place to cause the tragedy. Example: A mother comes on t.v. shortly after her son is shot and killed while participating in gang activity. Instead of calling on the city to do more about violent gang related crime, or accepting responsibility for her failure to keep her son out of this lifestyle, she cries to the public to call for a ban on guns. Pathetic. Almost every scenario when it comes to gun crime is related to this type of situation. It all started out with someone's intention to break the existing law. For which they will pay the price.
  7. I don't know the laws in every single state when it comes to concealed carry, but I sure know where to find them. The one law I see most is you are not allowed to carry while in an establishment whose sole purpose is to serve alcohol. So, I don't consider an illegal situation a hypothetical. A certain amount of integrity is required to be a legal gun owner when the Constitution affords us that right for our own self defense. It's no secret that some people lack that integrity. Don't punish those with integrity because of those without it. Every hypothetical situation presented here should have already taken into account the laws and a man's integrity.
  8. Thanks Steve...I am sure I will enjoy it. There are so many opportunities for just plain ol adventure that I am chomping at the bit to go now. Can't see myself getting into any big game hunting over there (simply because of expense) but there is plenty of small game hunting. I'm not taking any of my guns with me because of the huge amount of paperwork that I will have to do, but instead I am going to buy one hopefully when I get there. Here is some info for any of you who may be interested... http://www.spanish-living.com/regional/sports/sports-spain/sports-spain_hunting.php I would like to go on at least 1 Ibex or Chamois hunt while I am there, but that is going to take some saving on my part. Either way, the base is right on the water so there will be plenty of fishing opportunities also. Can't wait! Anyone here ever hunted in Spain?
  9. Well, this week started out crazy, and has since settled down. It all started out with the utmost excitement on my part because my wife finally bought off on me buying a new truck. I found one and bought it. A 2007 black Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 quad cab. Had it less than 24 hours and had to take it back to the dealer. I got home with it about 11 p.m., went to bed, got up and went to work and found out I have orders to Spain. Which I am EXCITED about. Wasn't exactly excited that I finally got the truck of my dreams and had to return it for a Volkswagen Jetta because it won't fit on the roads over there, but that's a man thing. Anyhow, after looking at the pro's (great hunting, great fishing, and of course the ability to travel all over Europe) I am ecstatic. We leave in May, and will be there for a minimum of three years.
  10. I think the Wii is fantastic for those days that the kids can't get outside (rain, freezing temps, 100 mph Jersey winds, etc.). That's about the only time they use it. My two sons wear themselves out in the running games and its fun to watch them. It also helps with their coordination skills. Not to mention, by the time we get home it is dark outside and we sometimes end up doing family bowling tournaments after dinner. So, I can't for the life of me see it as a bad subject unless people are allowing their kids to miss precious outdoor time playing video games.
  11. Our Wii came with a great little sports pack that includes bowling, baseball, etc. My kids, 4 and 5, love it. There is another one I just bought over the weekend at Costco that is called Outdoor Adventure. It comes with a pad on the floor that they move around on to control the characters on screen. http://www.amazon.com/Active-Life-Outdoor-Challenge-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B0013LTP5Q
  12. The laws are already written. I am more worried about them being taken away, or more restrictions added to. That is what my focus is. Ask the people of Louisiana how they felt about losing their guns. Or again, look at what is on the table in New Jersey. How about a nice ban on semi auto shotguns? Or anything over .50 caliber..including a .54 cal muzzleloader...To deny that it is happening on a whim is uneducated. It's there, and it has been there for years. Get your head in the books for crying out loud. My suggestion is Ace for you to stop coming up with hypothetical situations and get on the bus to keep your firearms and your right to hunt. This future administration is not something I would "bet" on. AGAIN, it is not necessarily Obama either...If you want exercises, how about exercising your right to freedom, and not falling prey to the "what if" crowd.
  13. I just got my 50" flat screen from Sears. Not only was it on sale, they gave me 10 percent off for being military. That's great they do this for our reserves. So many companies don't anymore for reasons other than fiscal.
  14. Then apparently you do not know the ramifications. But I would expect such...
  15. http://www.nowpublic.com/world/attorney-general-eric-holder-and-gun-control Fighting for Freedom 11/25/2008 With the Liberals laughing in bewilderment as masses of U.S. residents ran to the nearest gun stores buying all the guns they could get there hands on, the day after Obama's win of the election is with merit with Obama's selection of Attorney General, Eric Holder. Eric Holder is a long supporter of gun control. He has advocated for federal licensing of handgun owners, a three day waiting period on handgun sales, rationing handgun sales to no more than one per month, banning possession of handguns, a gun show restriction bill that would have given the federal government the power to shut down all gun shows, national gun registration, and mandatory prison sentences for trivial offenses (e.g., giving your son an heirloom handgun for Christmas, if he were two weeks shy of his 21st birthday). Holders testimony before the House Judiciary Committee, the subcommittee on crime May 27, 1999. After 911 Eric wrote a Washington post op-ed entitled "Keeping guns away from terrorist" attempting to argue the need for a new law that would give “the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms a record of every firearm sale.” When the Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the D.C. handgun ban and self-defense ban were unconstitutional in 2007, Eric Holder said weakening the gun law "opens the door to more people having more access to guns and putting guns on the streets." Does any one remember Elian Gonzalez? When Ole Eric Holder was the Deputy Attorney General for the Clinton Administration, he played a key role in the night time, gunpoint kidnapping to return the then 6 year child to his father in Cuba, which by the way the boys father was being represented by Greg Craig, another top advisor for Obama. With the Pulitzer Prize winning Picture (the one on this article) of the masked machine gun welding cop being splattered all over America in the Gonzalez case, Eric Holder had the gall to say, "he was not taken at the point of a gun" and that the federal agents acted "very sensibly". And Last but not least with he most recent Supreme Court ruling of Columbia v. Heller, Eric Holder along with Janet Reno co-signed an amicus brief in support of the D.C.'s ban on all handguns arguing that the Second Amendment is a “collective” right, not an individual one, and asserted that belief in the collective right had been the consistent policy of the U.S. Department of Justice since the FDR administration. Knowing all of this, and not already owning a gun, I would have ran to the nearest gun store as quick as I could also.
  16. I don't take anything Ace say's as a joke. What he fails to realize is there are just as many well funded, Obama voting, anti-hunting groups as there are anti-gun groups. So he may not care about gun owners, but he just voted himself into the fight against anti-hunters. Better get out in the woods Ace...The rest of your time is going to be spent eating crow.
  17. Ace, so far all I have seen from you is spouting off about how "everyone at deer camp" or elsewhere voted for Obama. It seems to me that you have based you decision on what everyone around you is doing because the facts have been posted here and from probably every legitimate source there is. I cannot for the life of me believe that a person of any sense could IGNORE the history of a politician and that of his constituents because he stood on a stage and said he "wouldn't." How many times in history have we heard that from either side on all sorts of topics? Plenty. You need to look at voting records to make a decision. Beat your head with a brick all you like...At least by the time Obama and his buddies do what they are going to do (at least attempt to), your head will be numb enough that you won't feel it...
  18. Some people in the world are hypocrites. The best thing for you to do is never leave yourself in the wrong. Focus on your spelling and grammar and the lesson's at hand. If you are worried about what she is doing, then you are going to miss something in the class. Now, if you absolutely cannot do what I mentioned above, gather your data (her mistakes) and present it to her in a friendly manner....non-public.
  19. If you had your choice about where you wanted to live other than where you are now, what are your top 5? 1. Alaska 2. Colorado 3. Arizona 4. Virginia 5. Montana

    Pepsi

Far more important things to write letters about if you ask me... Besides...What effects you more??? Pepsi giving to the homosexual community, or Coke supporting the WWF (World Wildlife Fund) to save the polar bears?
  21. Everyday on my way to or from work I see a dead deer on the side of the road...It's only a matter of time. In fact, I just bought me a $900 Chevy Silverado with a torn up right front end from hitting a deer. Here is an even better one...My friend in Kansas bought a brand new minivan and hit a deer on the way home from the dealership...Tore up the front end big time.
