  1. What say you? http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/02/18/postmaster-general-gets-pay-bonus-agency-falters/
  2. So let me get this straight...We are accusing people of not citing sources when it has been common knowledge where his stance on guns is? I think I might be more accusatory of not thoroughly educating one's self on a candidate. Personally I get tired of telling people who have no intention of accepting the truth. Anyway, this move is really a surprising move from the President considering his history. However, to me its nothing but a pacifier on the bigger issue at hand.
  3. Obama Defends Bush Rule on Permitting Guns in National Parks The regulation took effect Jan. 9 and allows visitors to bring concealed, loaded guns into national parks and wildlife refuges. FOXNews.com The Obama administration is going to bat for former President Bush by defending his last-minute rule allowing loaded guns in national parks. The Washington Post reported Tuesday that while the Interior Department is internally reviewing whether the measure passes environmental muster, the Justice Department sought to block a preliminary injunction of the controversial rule in response to a lawsuit filed Friday by gun-control and environmental groups. The regulation took effect Jan. 9 and allows visitors to bring concealed, loaded guns into national parks and wildlife refuges. For more than 20 years, they were allowed in such areas only if they were unloaded or stored and dismantled. The three groups fighting to overturn the rule are the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, the National Parks Conservation Association and the Coalition of National Park Service Retirees. They contend that the Bush administration violated several laws in issuing the rule, such as failing to conduct a sufficient environmental review under the National Environmental Policy Act. They also claim that the new policy could discourage some visitors from visiting national landmarks. But the Justice Department said in its reply that the new rule "does not alter the environmental status quo, and will not have any significant impacts on public health and safety." Interior Secretary Ken Salazar has requested an internal assessment of whether the measure has any environmental impacts the government needs to take into account, an Interior spokesman told the newspaper Monday.
  4. Hey, at least those who put Dear Leader there will get a few extra bucks for groceries. Hope it was worth it. Now we can all watch as the effort for people to educate themselves diminishes. Why should they when the government is giving handouts?
  5. I got woken up by that one time too. Grandfather had been after an armadillo for a while that was digging up his yard. I woke to the blast and all I heard was the most evil of laughs and a "GOTCHA!" It was 1 a.m.
  6. I live right down the street from a shooting preserve and am constantly hearing the sweet sounds of shotgun fire in the distance. The weather is beautiful here this morning and I have been on my porch with my coffee since I got up listening to bird hunting in the background and perusing realtree.com. Can't ask for a better morning as of late...Sure wish I was with them. Enjoy your day everyone...
  7. Read and sign if you wish.. http://www.wnd.com/index.php?pageId=87882
  8. The only thing I will say on sex education and the purchasing of contraceptives is ultimately the hopes are to save government welfare money in the long term. Not saying that I agree with that because I believe it is the parent's responsibility to do so, but with the sheer amount of irresponsible parents out there, who can say what is best? I have to ask also if any of you who have been laid off and are blaming past or present administrations are privy to your companies inner financial workings? My theory is most businesses are maxed out financially and any little change to world markets could sink them. Is that good business practice? I'm not trying to start an argument, just trying to get some insight and add a little something into the blame game. Much like a wrongly convicted criminal, I would hate to point fingers at the wrong person. Often times the damage from "Speculationville" is unrecoverable.
  9. My father dresses much like what is described here by Steven. He made every effort to teach me to do the same, and enough of it stuck to get me through a night out on the town with my wife. Most days though, i'm kinda a bandana in the back pocket guy. Although I do own a variety of cuff links. Guess it is still in my blood too. We went to Tiffany's recently and I dang near bought another pair.... Sheesh.
  10. If it were me, I would kick the door in and demand an explanation. People shouldn't go through such things alone, and I would remind that person (especially if it were my dad) that they need help tackling such an issue and you will tackle it with a vengeance, together. Facefirst. But that is just my opinion, and my personality. I'm not going to criticize either way as it is a tough decision to make, and one all your own. Do what you feel is right. So with that said, I will just leave it with prayers on the way up for all of you, and a few extra's for your pops. Especially one for this whole situation to be nothing big at all.
  11. Wait a minute there hero. I was sticking to the original topic at hand, and honestly didn't have the attention span to read these rambles you keep posting on here. Until this. Your opinions on who children should idolize are not important in my way of thinking. Kids do it, no matter what. Am I going to stop them? No, but if I see they are going about it for the wrong reasons, I will re-educate. I also don't believe I was telling you how to "mind your house."
  12. I don't really care about his endorsements, what I care about is the image he portrays to the public. He is paid, very well, to be a role model for youth in the realm of fitness and health. Yes we could go on forever about what is right or wrong, but what it really boils down to is athletes are expected to toe a strict line. Cross the line, they should lose it all. Sorry, but the consequences are just as educational to the public as the athletes are themselves. Lets ask ourselves how you would feel if a picture of your child's soccer coach surfaced smoking weed? Or their teacher or daycare provider?
  13. That's great news. Now if we could get rid of Corzine, part of my life would be complete.
  14. Nope, my point is that you don't read into things and are perfectly happy with what you are fed. I'm not going to tit for tat with you over this either.
  15. Paranoia is a fear of something which could happen. How can I be paranoid of something happening when it has already happened? Now, I am not scared of it because I am doing my part to counteract it. You contradicted yourself. Example.. The British might be coming!...Paranoia The British are coming!...Fact/Fear/Courage/Patriotism The British are here!...Now lets kick ass. <---I am here. I wouldn't be so bold as to say that I know it all about online petitions...Almost certainly, I cannot be everywhere at once. To assume you know is really arrogant, and complacent. Keep it up! You continue to drive my point home...
  16. Since when does the government decide who we should listen to? Censorship is here.... http://www.foxnews.com/politics/first100days/2009/01/27/dems-launch-online-petition-rush-limbaugh/
  17. That's fantastic. I love it when members of government do what they are supposed to.
  18. I cannot believe that someone would be so foolish to come on here and proceed to tell me what I can and can't, or should or should not, have. This has turned into someone's personal agenda and their underlying desire to control. Their desire to control the American agenda and decide from afar what is best for everyone, when they have not met and barely know who they are attempting to pass judgement on. Muggs, I don't care what you think I need. Need has nothing to do with it. I've seen the same argument over and over again and honestly you do not control what I need or want. I do. Furthermore, this AR-15 argument has been beaten to death and I have grown tired of showing facts over and over to those who choose to ignore them. You say the NRA is a propaganda machine. It is what it is. But there are two types of propaganda. Good and bad. I would place the NRA on the good side, and those groups of people who are content with the idea of being able to tell Americans what they need or want, on the bad side. The propaganda is equal. My suggestion to you is to mature a little and leave the "I just checked my gun cabinet and they are still there" remarks to be said elsewhere. Honestly, I find it boring an uneducated to the facts. If it were me, I would get my head out of the gun cabinet and into the books. Just to give you one little example of how your narrow mindedness plays in here, the "gestapo style gun confiscation" and the lack of it happening is untrue. It has happened already. One might check the case of gun owners against Mayor Ray Nagin and his Chief of Police. In summary, you will not tell me what I need, and I would never be so pompous to tell you what you "need."
  19. I'm thinking I wouldn't want to be in the security business today. Other than that, we as Sportsmen and gun owners have a long road ahead of us. I could beat a dead horse here, but right now, I don't have the energy. Just spent the weekend in New York City for my anniversary and I swear Obama was on everything. I just hope he has the guts to keep us safe so we are free to argue amongst ourselves (as Americans) the direction this country should be headed. If we don't have security, then no matter what we argue about or accomplish, it will always be in severe jeopardy.
  20. hmm...I don't know. HBO is in the sack with Obama so it doesn't really surprise me. This inauguration is a cash cow for businesses.
  21. I'm not too terribly concerned about people's access to t.v. If it is coming down to profiteering, it's everywhere. I just spent the weekend in NYC, and Obama is on everything. I'm not real clear on what HBO is doing.
  22. That's why i'm going to get on blood pressure medication. Consider it preventative maintenance.

    Got Snow Geese?

There was about 10,000 of those things flying over my house last night when I got home from work. My kids wanted to watch them, but I grabbed them both by their coat hoods and drug them in the house. Then we had the "yes they are pretty, but they will crap on you" speech for the millionth time.
