Was in the local Wal-Mart about 2 weeks ago and noticed a lot of hunting stuff....much more so than normal. Spoke to the guy working the department and he stated that the person in charge of purchasing for that department had been replaced and the new guy was a hunter/fisherman and stated they would be adding a lot more of these items to the stores. He stated it wasn't just that store either..it was Wal-Mart in general. He said they would have firearms again at some point, which I haven't seen in 5 years or more locally.

I don't know if you would call it hot sauce but it is might tasty. It is called Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce.....amazing on pizza.

Yeah...I agree with the rock comments....the 2nd one is so much nicer. Could be the type of lights that were used when photographing that makes it look grayish. I bet it will look killer when you get it in the house.

My opinion is that I don't go any higher than I have to. Cover in the tree dictates a lot about my stand placement. If you only hunt the stand when you have the wind direction in your favor and use proper scent elimination you don't need to be 20 feet in the air.

4-Pin....20, 30, 40, 50. I can't see ever having the opportunity to shoot at 50 but it is good for practice.

Google modified french tuning...pretty slick technique.

Got my DVR setup to record...I think it is a pretty cool show.

Thanks....that is what I was assuming but looked and looked on the website and couldn't find anything......guess I will have to try and fill my shotgun tag early and then get the bow out.

So this coming weekend is the 2nd late season for does only and also the last weekend for bow hunting....do any Illinois hunters know if I can have both in the stand with me. Would like to have the bow in case a shooter buck comes in but also would like to fill my shotgun tag also.

I give a vote to the H&R Ultra Slug gun as well....I shoot a 12 ga. with Hornady SSTs and I wouldn't be afraid to put it up against another shotgun. I also shoot a Bushnell scope and absolutely love the gun.

Rut activity is high right now....I rattled in three different bucks the last two days and had a buck chasing a doe through the timber this morning....I rattled in what would have been a decent 8 this morning to with 5 yards of the stand but his right side was broken off about 2 inches up. He was looking for a fight because he circled my area for about 20 minutes trying to find the fight.

Going to decide tomorrow morning whether or not to take him to the taxidermist. If I do it will be my first buck that I hang on the wall.

I didn't think there would be an 8th circumference...doesn't have a G4 on that side. Yes measurarements are taken from outside....I used one of those flexible sewing tape measures(obviously not official), but should get me in the ballpark.

Don't know what is up with the calculators....I think the B&C one went stupid. Here are the measurements...and too me I get 129". Don't get me wrong I think he is a great deer but I think my perspective may be way off....I would have thought for sure he was high 130's. If I use the BTR then I come up a bit short of 130....I am so confused. :stretcher:

I put the numbers into a B&C calculater and it is saying 145 with 8" of deductions......so gross is 153.....I just think I measured something wrong because I never would have thought he grossed over 150. Maybe I need to have an expert measure him.

I was thinking high 130s maybe break the 140 mark....now you all got me wondering. What is the proper way to preserve a deer until deciding whether or not to drop off at the taxidermist?

Not much of a story....I blind grunted and he came in about a minute later. Came in from my right and worked is way around me and back to my left. Stopped him broadside with a grunt at about 60 yards. Made the shot and he went about 30 yards before expiring. Used 12 Guage H&R Ultra Slug Gun with 3" Hornady slugs. Haven't measured his rack yet.....any thoughts....He is a nine point.....4 on his right and 3 on his left and of course the brow tines.

I don't know how your gun is any safer......safety is the responsibility of the hunter...please enlighten me how your smokepole is safer than my single-shot slug gun.

Not trying to offend you but that first deer is easily over 140".....I shot a deer this year that scored 136 and change and that deer has a lot more bone and is heavier than the one I shot.
