  1. Definitely check out the H&R Ultra Slugster.....I have the 12 gauge and it is an absolute tack driver.....at 100 yards you can easily shoot 3" groups.
  2. I appreciate all the responses...I like the idea of waiting until this fall and if it strikes me right...I will try to get a cape from another deer. Will give me plenty of time to ponder the idea.
  3. Thanks for the reminder....I just applied for the first lottery.
  4. That is funny...my wife absolutely hates the beard. I only grow it out for about 3 or 4 months of the year. I tell her it helps keep my face warm when it is cold out.
  5. I live in Washington but hunt primarily in Henry(Marshall County) and occasionally in Putnam or Tazewell counties.
  6. Thanks for all the replies.....I figured those were the answers I would get. Not really into the Euro mount. He green scored 136 3/8" and is actually a 10 point. If you look just at the base of the G3's he has two little points right there as well. The one on his right side was broke but still long enough to be scorable. My buddy keeps giving me crap about not getting him mounted so I thought I would see what everyone else thought.
  7. This is my 2008 Shotgun Buck.....I decided against having it mounted as I think/hope to get something bigger someday....now I am second-guessing myself. What do y'all think. No comment on the post title please...I realize I blew it on that..lol.
  8. I saw a really nice buck last weekend that still had both sides here in Central Illinois. Needless to say...I was really shocked.
  9. So I made it out today but only for about 3 hours.....found one shed and one dead deer.....also saw the remnants of another dead deer but couldn't find any of the skeletal structure.
  10. Well unfortunately, I didn't make it out this weekend like I had planned......I did see a nice racked buck that still had both sides on Saturday though. I was really shocked.
  11. I plan on going shed hunting this weekend...got about 250 acres to search. I will report back what I see.
  12. Bear Team Realtree Vapor 3000....I have had it for about three years now.
  13. Yes I took him in Marshall County......it was on private land. Where is Lincoln Trail?
  14. Central Illinois - Marshall County primarily but occasionally Putnam and Tazewell county. Here is the buck I shot this year.
  15. I am with everyone else....yours looks all whitetail to me.....what about your deer does your dad thinks it is part Muley....maybe it is something we are missing.
  16. I would guess the one on the left as a 2.5 year old dear and score in the mid 120s.....the other deer looks more like 4.5 but might only be 3.5. He might go closer to 130.
  17. Great Buck!!!! Looks like he will gross in the mid 140s to me.
  18. Nice deer....I would guess he will gross around 128"
  19. Nice buck!!!!!! I would guess he will gross somewhere in the mid 140s.
  20. All I saw were bucks the first season...took a decent 136 3/8 10 point.....I still have my anterless tag to fill but won't be hunting until Friday and then if needed Saturday and Sunday. Hang in there...it will happen. Good Luck!!!!!!!
  21. This is another reason I was thinking 2.5....I looked at his teeth as well as a friend and they look really really good. I will give him 3.5 and assume he had good hygiene but no way he is older than that.
  22. Ok here is the gross score.........136 3/8"
  23. Great Buck!!!! I would guess high 150s.
  24. Shot him at around 9:30 on Saturday morning with my H&R Ultra Slug Gun at about 50 yards.....he went less then 10 yards before expiring. I somewhat regret shooting this deer as I think he is only 2 1/2. Where I was hunting I didn't have a ton of time to look him over and it was so thick I couldn't get a good read on his body size. With this being only the 3rd deer I had seen in a 1.5 days I decided to take him. I will let you all take guesses to what he gross scored and then will post that later. The pictures are mediocre at best, but here is what I have.
