Here's a quick pick of a buck harvested on Nov. 9th. I had seen a larger 10-11pt the week before this guy came in. I wasn't sure how many more days I'd have to hunt so I took him. He came in from my left and stopped just in front of my tree, but just behind another. He was only 3-4 yards out so it was a steep shot that I had to lean around the tree between us. The rest is history- he ran about 75 yards and stopped in his tracks.

This guy's so big- I'd be shaking so bad for a couple of minutes not sure I'd be able to stop quick enough to shoot him. Congrats to that guy.

Nothing to be ashamed of- you've got more meat in the freeze than I do this year. At least you had a good clean shot & found it.

congrats to cole! I am a late bloomer since my dad was not much interested in hunting, so I think its great hearing stories of Dad's starting out with their kids while their young and teaching them.

That definitely sucks a big one! Most stands are cheap enough any more to get started, not sure why any Jack A** would steal them.

I have a new CVA Optima that I bought a Bushnell Banner 3-9 x40 BDC scope for. I am headed to Sportsman's Warehouse since they will mount & boresight for free. I've seen low/med rise, see through etc. What type of bases should I get?

Haven't had a poaching problem, but had a huge 'yote problem last year. Couldn't shoot anything and leave it over night if needed- they were all over it. Than like you started seeing them running all over the fields chasing everything away.

I do about the same- use lineman's harness as I put up the rapid rails. Than I come down tie off a rope to the stand and pull it up. I put it up to the left since that's what side the chain attaches to. I usually end up around 20 ft up. Always tie off to the tree when putting up the stand because they don't always want to be friendly and easy while hanging them.
