  1. Sako 85 Finnlite or Kimber in a .300 WSM........... Which is your preference........pros/cons...........thanks
  2. Which is a better twist rate 1:10 or 1:11 ??? thanks...........
  3. tight lipped Turkeygirl, I've noticed that the turkeys around here have been pretty silent until the hens start leaving them around 10 or 11 . I would go to wherever you feel that location has the best strut zones and listen for them at dusk. There is alot hens again this year, alot of competition. Keep calling at a minimum in the early hours. Progress later in the morning.....and yet those darn birds still like to come in silent...go figure.........most of all.........good luck and have fun.......
  4. Arkansas boy I had the same problem with my 742 Woodsmaster. Luckily I only live 10 miles from the Remington factory. Come to find out, the problem was that the headspace was at it's maximum limits. What they did for me was that they pro-rated it and allowed me that amount towards a new gun. Hope this helps some. Good luck.
  5. Obviously this is weighing heavily on your mind. That being said, I think you already know the answer. It's a hard call especially when you have been given a green light. Good luck in your decision.
  6. Moss 535 If you like recoil, get the 535. That gun in with a 3.5 inch shell will rattle your eye teeth.
  7. New caliber As Double A pointed out there is nothing wrong with the .270 win. I read an article not too long ago, and in the article the author had stated " ...the only caliber that has dropped more Elk than a .338 win is the .270 win....." with that being said........... if your looking to buy a new gun......you are right on with the .300 win mag. With good hand loads it will stomp the piss out of a 7mm mag for flatness and energy. Goog luck in your decision.
  8. light rifle Take a look at the TIKKA T3 lite. Very good gun and well within your budget all with guaranteed accuracy. Good luck.
  9. reloading check out accuratereloading.com I get alot of good info at this site. Good luck.....
  10. Newbie Check out www.accurateloading.com There is a plethora of knowledge at this site for handloading as well as many other topics. Good luck.
  11. Mossberg I had one with the vent rib barrel for turkeys. I don't know about shooting slugs, but with a 3" turkey load the recoil is pretty stout. I generally am not recoil sensitive, but after 5 or 6 shots my patterning session was done. Got rid of it the day after turkey season closed. I hope yours works better for you. Good luck.
  12. Anyone using an 1187 ? I just picked up a premier in mint condition for $425 . Which choke tube do you prefer?
  13. Your turkey loads; do you prefer the speed of 1 3/4 oz OR more shot of the 2.0oz shot? I know it's about what your gun prefers..... but what do you prefer???
  14. Who makes the best AR-15 in a .308 for the money???
  15. doubleA pretty much hit it right on the head. Personally, you couldn't give me anything from Lee. Good luck.........
  16. Anyone have any experience with this gun in a 20gauge for use on turkeys???
  17. Anyone have any experience with them?
  18. Which do you prefer to load for deer, black bear, & coyote ?
  19. Turkey vest Got mine @ wally world it's a Winchester for about $30. Only problem....... so many pockets. It's hard to keep track of where everything is.
  20. Which wal-marts carry guns anymore??? None in NY.......
  21. Thanks Thanks to all for the replies. Happy Holidays.............
  22. 742 Woodsmaster Had one passed on to me in the mid 90's from my father. He never shot it. The gun would jam EVERY time. Brought it to Remington being that the factory is 10 miles away. Come to find out the head space was way off. I have to say, Remington did make good on it by providing a new firearm. That one shot fairly well for an autolaoder( <2.0 @ 100yds. with open sights ) Good luck with it. A free gun is always an awesome gun.
  23. Anyone have any experience with them particullary with a 20gauge ??? Thanks.
  24. Does anyone have one in a 20gauge and what's your evaluation about them? Thanks.
  25. Another vote for the .270 w/ Leupold on a Tikka T3 Lite ,guaranteed accuracy , pleasant to carry, minimal recoil, adjustable trigger, and it won't break the bank. 2nd choice would be the Weatherby Vanguard in a .270 this another quality inexpensive rifle with guaranteed accuracy that will get the job done. It's all up to you, get out and kick some tires and see what feels best to you. Good luck.
