    17 year old and taxes

Luckily, I won't have to worry about kids getting to old for tax credits for at least another 18 years....Unless my other half isn't telling me something....
  2. I shoot with three, like many here 20 30 & 40. I almost never use the 40, and the 30 rarely. Most of my shots while hunting are probably 25 or less. I used to use 4, but scrapped that sight. I could probably get by with just one pin, but I like to know I can reach out a little further accuratly if the situation ever comes up.

    Getting Married

LOL. Plan your weddings around hunting seasons. Thats why I'm having mine in July. (well, that, and she just happened to pick that day and I didn't argue)... Congradulations.
  4. I don't know if I can add much to the advice here, other then plan ahead. I wanted to whip up some of my tried and true for deer season this year. Well, I waited to long to pick up some new primers (both the stores that carried them were closed). As a result, I was forced to use a factory load on opening day of rifle....

    CB radio

Cell phones not only cost the initail investment of buying a phone, but the on-going expense of a phone plan. With a CB, we can chat all we want (within range, which is when it matters) and not have to worry about going over minuits, or that kind of stuff...

    1957 Vs 2007

Well, I think there was alot less porblems back in 1950's because there was more guns around. I'm not old enough to have witnessed it, but from what I hear, you couldn't walk a block without comming across a rifle, shotgun or something. And anyone that acted out of line knew they would have a half-dozen lead-chuckers in his face. Now, compare that today, shools are gun free, universities, shopping malls, and all sorts of other places. Where are the most tragic off all the mass killings? In these very same gun-free zones. Its not that the guys shooting don't want to die. They just want to cause max-damage before the cops put them down so thier names get plastered all over the news for years to come. Whats more news worthy "Man opens fire on campus, quickly being guned down by a student and professor after just wounding one innocent bystander" or "Man opens fire, gunning down defencless studends and staff. 23 pronounced dead at the scene, 5 more in critical condition". Its not like someone bent on crime and destruction cares he's breaking one more gun free zone law on top of anything else....
  7. I wouldn't drop the draw weight. I've been shooting 70lbs on my PSE Polaris for over a decade now, and there ain't nothing worn out on it. As for quiet, you can try adding a few silencing things, such as limb-savers, string silencers and what not. The archery shop should be able to set you up with something. If noise is realy bad, maybe try a heavier arrow. It absorbs more of the strings energy then an ultra light arrow, and results in less rattles and vibrations. They still make Thunderheads, and they still work fine. If they're shooting good for you, why not stick with them? There area also plenty of other fine broadheads on the market if your willing to shell out the money to experement and find another kind that'll suit you. I used to shoot Thunderhead 125's, but am putting my arrows on a diet and am looking for something a little lighter before next season myself....

    I eat deer chops....

    CB radio

I was thinking of getting some for a while. Sort of a gift set, for my dad, brother and me, since we're frequently scattered and it would make keeping in touch and up to date easier at times.
  10. You think you have it bad? We actualy have federal government jobs advertised as "Preferance given to Women, disabled, and visible minorities" (Read: Young white men need not apply). I've also seen blatantly advertised "Seeking Aboriginals to fill X position". I couldn't make enough money to finish university, all the while watching the government pay for natives to flunk out. I applied for a police force once, and I had a good score on my enterance exam. Only to find out that natives and other minorities marks are held to a lower standard, so thier crappy scores puts them ahead of my good scores.... It truely has gone to the point where rather then making everyone equal, they reversed the discrimination completely on white men..
  11. I generaly use Old Spice aftershave. I don't wear much cologne, but have a bottle of some stuff I use when my and the fiancee are going out. During deer season, I'll generaly use an artifical buck or doe in heat urin....

    Black bear

Thats my taxidermist. They do great work. They have my 07 rifle deer as we speak. Just a couple blocks from where I work As for pictures of full body mounts, not mine but something I'd consider. This man is very proud of his full body mount, and I think it looks great. If you look through Hawkins site, they got some great photos you can brows through for some ideas also.
  13. Here, we got a Youth Deer and Bird combo license for $9, a youth turkey tag for $5. Other incentives, Youth can hunt any season, draw or non-draw, big game, upland birds, or wild turkey, but they share a supervising adults bag limits. There is also mentored hunting programs, where youth can hunt certian days under the supervision of an adult if they don't have someone to take them normaly. There's also Waterfowl heritage days, where youth get a week to hunt waterfowl without buying a license. I say we have enough programs that any interested youth has opporatunity to cut his teeth.
  14. Well, its funny, but not quite an original Idea.... http://www.canada.com/topics/news/politics/story.html?id=6ce461e9-6e06-4767-be3c-498ea026aaf7&k=77055
  15. 40 (maybe 45, I'm not 100% sure) is the limit here. Its also plenty to kill a deer with the right arrow and the understanding your range is much more limited then a big bow....

    How many shirts/pants?

I have Exactly 3 pairs of jeans. One 'nice' pair for day to day wear. One grease and oilstained pair for fixing things and otherwise dirty work. One bloodstained pair for hunting. Tshirts (not counting Grey PT shirts and green army undershirts) I'm not so sure. About 15 or so at any given time. I have one pair of black jeans and one pair of dress paints, to go with a few shirts and ties when I need to break out the old noose. Now camo/blaze orange stuff doesn't count. Nor does any of my various army uniforms and accessories....
  17. I had just bought the whisperflite one not to long ago. At first, I was having more fletching contact then ever. Took a little bit to figure out, but now it works great.
  18. Well, my entire unit got to go home a few hours ago...except me. I have to wait until they're done inspecting the weapons so I can lock up the vault....But tomorow I got 2 free tickets to the mid-Canada boat show. Should help bring on some of those springtime feelings.
  19. I'll say. Thank god for sissy guns
  20. I got hit in the lower thigh by a .22 once. Crazy old neighbour shot me when he thought I was...Well, I never did figure that out.(I only came to visit, as he was an old WWII vet with no family, alone in the country). I was pretty much fine after some lead plucking and bandaging. Never held it against him. I had a 5.56 FMJ go in my deltoid, along my humorous, and out near my elbow during a night time live fire training exercise. Thankfuly, I didn't break any bones or permanantly loose any function in my arm, and was gimped up for a minimal amount of time.
  21. I don't think thats such a good trade. I seem to recall a forum member not to long ago trading his wife for a decent bow...
  22. Now that makes perfect sense, and sounds sturdier then my adjustable arpature theory....
  23. Thats the stuff I was thinking off...Don't use it too often, ad I try to keep my guns rust-free

    Video Games

I have a Playstation 2. I like to play Cabella's hunting games, though I was extremly disapointed with thier trophy bucks, or whatever it was called. I also have a few fishing games. I got the steering wheel, and like racing games also. I have a few others, but they get less attention. Helps pass the time when its -40 and your realy not in the mood to do anything outside.
