  1. I finally got to go out for the first time sat. I seen two does about 80 yards away. I had a good morning even though I didn't get to shoot at anything,I didn't think I would even see nothing but seen those two. Gonna try and get back out a couple more days this week before I go back to work Friday.
  2. Whole loin rubbed with mad hunky and put on the smoker with some cherry or apple wood. Wrap about halfway through and spritz with lime juice and apple juice. Cover with foil and let it finish.
  3. Checking in here guys. Haven't been on much due to work and family. Season has been in since the first and I haven't been hunting yet, just been to darn hot for me. I'm planning on getting out this weekend and next week and try to get some meat for the freezer. I'll try checking in on a more regular basis. Good luck to all and keep your shots streight and true.
  4. Mathews switchback XT,can't bring myself to get rid of it. I put new string and cable on it last year along with all new dampeners and hardware to match the colors of the string and cable. I think it's the last great Mathews built and maybe the smoothest they ever made.
  5. I have had my virticle pins on my bow since I bought it new in 2007. I shot horizontal pins before that. I have no complaint about either one of them but I beleive I like the virticle pins just a little but better.

I remember the one a couple years ago. This seams better because all the writing on the left side is gone so I don't have to scroll down so much.

Forums get a new overhaul? I haven't been able to get on in a while and it looks as if the forums had an overhaul while I was away. I think I like it better, easier on my phone and doesn't have all the writing on the side.
  8. Thanks guys,I think I'm just going to put it in the shop and get the whole thing gone through. I want it to be dependable for the up comeing hunting season and just incase I want to go trail ridding. I'm hopeing it's something simple,if it's not I'm gonna get it running and put a for sale sign on it.
  9. I got a 2004 Honda rancher 350 that isn't starting. It was starting fine and then I went out one day to start it up and it wouldn't start. I thought it was the plug so I put a new one in it. It still won't start,it's getting gas because it backfires and smells like its flooding out, just seems like its not getting any fire to it or something. I don't know anything about working on atv's so any help would be greatly appreciated,if I can't get it going this week then it's going to the shop next week when I get some days off.
  10. Found one on my street. Y the driveway a couple days ago just like that. A car had dispatched it,I have seen them before and about 12" or so is as big as they get I think. As for what kind it is,I have no clue.
  11. Congrats man on a nice bird. If the birds in your part of the state are acting like they are in my part and everyone else's part, you had to work to get them, congrats again.
  12. Nice bird,congrats man.
  13. Congrats on a fine gobbler bro,you got some extra sleep and a nice bird. Nothing like a quick hunt,I was in the woods for 2 hours this morning before I scored.
  14. Well guys, after the morning got off to a terrible start I scored. I never heard the first peep out of a turkey this morning. set up this morning at a crossroads where 4 roads come together,it's always a good spot for turkey and deer. After not hearing anything I decided to move to the pasture edge where I could see for a longer distance,I sat there for a while but heard nothing. I then glanced across the feild and seen a bird walk out about 100 yards away. He was just poking along doing whatever turkeys do and payed no attention to any of my calls nor made any kind of vocalazations. He started in the other direction and when he got over a little rise and behind a rose bush,I new this would be my only chance so I proceeded to make a stalk. I kept the rose bush in between him and me and when I got up to it he was about 50 yards away. Not sure if it was a gobbler or not,but thought it was because of the white and red head,I waited to confirm my target. Then a cow came in to the feild from my right and was looking right at me,this made the bird take a couple steps and I seen the beard, bingo. I raised up from my crouched position and settled the sights on the Tom. I shot and he took off trotting after he flinched, running in the opposite direction so I fired another one at about 80 yards, don't know why, just excited I guess. He ran down in a little valley and I knew where he was going so I went after him. I got in the bottom and seen him comeing through the brush,he was hurt but still getting away. I raised the benelli once again and fired at him from about 15 yards and finally put him down. I have only been out 3 times this season but have managed to tag out for the first time in about 6 years. He was about 18lb with a 10 1/4" beard and 1 1/4" spurs.
  15. Hey guys, how's it going? I haven't been on here in a while but thought I would stop by and post a pic of my gobbler I got yesterday.Well I got to go out for just the second time this season and had some luck. This may be long but I'm excited, sorry. I was debating on going fishing or turkey hunting last night but after seeing what the weather was going to be I went turkey hunting. I got to the farm at 6:30 this morning and there were some birds were already gobbling on the rooste. I went to a centrally located area in a cow pasture and set up in a clump of trees. I break out the gobble shaker and add a few with some light hen sounds. I here one getting closer and on the other side of the feild I see this big white head through a rose bush,I get my gun up and get ready. He stopped about 75 yards away and was eating something,I watched him for 30 min and he was comeing my way. Then a cow come from the holler and pushed him back from where he came. He got in the holler and I made a move to the other end of the feild and set back up with hopes he would come back out. He came back out but was about 40 yards down the ridge and I never seen him,he was makeing his way across some points on the front of the farm and gobbling the whole time. I had an idea where he was going because I had turkeys do this before. I made another move back to the truck and dropped off the decoy and proceeded down the holler to cut him off. I heard him gobble a couple more times so I snuck um a cow path to see if I could see him, there he was 25 yards away and walking slowly. I got my gun up and took the shot,he hit the ground and was mine. He weighed 25lb,had an 11" beard and 1 1/4" spurs. I got him at 8:00 so now I'm fishing on cedar creek lake and. Asking in the happiness of the kill. Now to get a fish, hopefully.
  16. I was on another forum and there was a link from a guy who was killing his hogs for the winter. He was canning his sausage in mason jars to put in the celler.
  17. That's alot of beans, would have to steer clear of you for a while:) sounds good though.
  18. I wish we would get some snow here,it's a balmy 55 deg here on Christmas day. I can't remember it ever being this warm on Christmas day,it's kinda disappointing.
  19. I'm kinda curious, how on earth do you catch a wild hawk.
  20. I been letting things settle down for a while after gun season. Gonna give it another week or so and start bow hunting hard,I love the cold weather hunting.
  21. Stay home! In no way am I getting in that mess to try and save a little cash, never have and never will.
  22. Rifle season has came and went for me this year with only a doe being harvested. Passed on a four point and a big six point. I still have to Jan 16 to bow hunt and the late muzzle seAson comeing up also. Tell you the truth guys it's not looking good on the farm and I knew it would be hard. All of the hard logging has taken a toll on the farm,it doesn't even look like the same place now and I know it has the deer pushed out to other farms. Oh well what's a man to do,it's all I have so I will have to make dew with it. I have only seen 4 small rubs and no scrapes all season.
