Lil bro is on board with a youth season gobbler
Ethan Givan replied to rhine16's topic in Turkey Hunting
Congrats to your little bro on a nice bird! Some of my favorite memories in the turkey woods are hunting with my little brother. He is 16 now, but I have been with him on all of his turkey kills. Im sure its tough not being able to be out there with him. -
Season starts here in exactly one month today on April 13th. Im looking foward to it, already replaced a couple mouth calls, and bought a new owl hoot tube. I have been seeing birds here behind the house on almost a daily basis. Been seeing 4 different longbeards, and a group of about 20 hens and jakes. Went for a walk last weekend and saw plenty of turkey sign on the farm, ridge tops were absolutely torn up with scratching and the foodplot had alot of tracks and droppings in it. I havent been scouting on any of my other properties I hunt yet, but I am confident the birds are there. I will probably start going out and listening for birds gobbling in the mornings here in a couple weeks.

We have a Cabela's being built here in KY in Louisville. I think it is supposed to open in April.

The idea of trying to ban certain guns, high capacity mags, and all that really does irk me. However, what is really starting to piss me off even more is all the time politicians are wasting trying to push this crap through, when they could be using their time to address more pressing issues. If they would put this much effort and time into trying to fix the real problems, this country would be alot better off. I mean really come on, this is stupid.

I had problems with mine as well. I clicked the Compatability View button on my tool bar and it fixed it.

That video is hilarious. Gotta love Duck Dynasty!!

Same three properties for me this year. Should be plenty of turkeys at all of them. Been seeing a group of 4 londbeards about once a week or so back here in our pasture behind the house. I might have two new properties in the works for this year as well, not sure yet. One joins our farm and the other is a half mile up the road. If I could get those plus what I already have, I would have close to 1000 acres to chase turkeys on, which would be a dream come true.

Glad to hear they got it right.

What he said. Personally I would also opt for a 3 blade mechanical, versus a 2 blade.

I see what your talking about William, the map shows that property extending on down past yours just a bit. Does your property have a set corner where your line begins running North from the river and his meet? Could be that they found that corner and thought that was the back of the other property. Sometimes deeds are not good either, and are very vague, leaving the surveyor little to work with. We have a map system here very similiar to the one you sent me, and I can say from experience that what these maps show are not concrete, and sometimes they are wrong. The surveyor has to survey from the deed, and what he finds on the property. The best advice I can give you is to contact the surveyor that did the work, and ask to talk to him. If he is a reputable surveyor, he will be more than willing to discuss the situation and try to get it right. Could be true, I dont know about TN laws. Although Im sure it has happened, I have never heard of a surveyor being bought off. My dad has been surveying since 1978 and I have never heard him mention anyone trying to bribe him. I doubt thats the case here.

My dad is a surveyor and I have worked with him for several years on and off. Is the surveyor done with the survey? Its possible that the flagging you are seeing is only marking traverse points, and not the property line. Surveyors have to run a closed traverse to locate all the corners, fences etc. so they could have zig zagged back and forth locating the channel if thats where the line is supposed to be. We never marked the actual property line unless the client specifically asked us to so they could build a fence or something. We only flag existing property corners that we find that the deed calls for (cap and pin, stone, tree etc.) and then if a corner monument is missing we set new pins and flag them. If a surveyor has located both property corners and wants to mark the property line in between, they should be able to do so very accurately. Its hard for me to follow every thing that you are talking about and what they might have done without seeing it myself.

He makes a good point I like the .270 for deer over anything else that I have shot, but the 30-06 is a great all around caliber that wont disappoint
-
I have owned 2 Marlin 60s and still have one of them, you wont be disappointed. They are sweet shooting guns, I have the wood stock so its a bit heavier than the one your getting. I have a 4X scope on it. A squirrels worst nightmare. Only advice I have is to stay away from bulk ammo, except for maybe Federal. They seem to not cycle as well, and you might get a jam or failure to extract occasionally. I like to use CCI ammo if I can.

Remington 870 Express 12 ga with factory bead that I painted white. I cover the gun with no-mar camo gun tape and use a Tru-glo turkey choke with Winchester Supreme #5s. This set up has dropped birds at 45+ yards several times, which is plenty good enough for me.

Yep thats what I thought when I looked at the pic. Just doesnt look that big.

I usually put cameras out in July and run them until deer season is over in January. Then I put them out again in March and run them into May for turkey season.

Thats a tough situation for sure, too bad they backed out like that and left you hanging. Sounds like someone higher up in the company shot it down. I know of other situations where management in companies had made a decision to hire, create a new position, or make a large purchase and someone higher up on the corporate ladder pulls the plug. Not cool.

Pretty good game, didnt really care who won, but congrats to the ravens. I thought the Dodge farmer commercial was awesome, my favorite of the night.

Thats how it should be done, he used facts and solid information to prove his point. Very well spoken too. I hope he changed some minds.

I bought a H.S. Strut hoot tube and Ring Zone slate call a couple weeks ago. Other than that, it will be the same stuff going into the woods with me as it has been previous years. I try to keep my vest as light as possible. Im drying another fan right now for Pretty boy, should be ready for action in a couple months.

Ravens and 49ers in Super Bowl 47!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dont see him as a thug at all, always seems like a class act to me. There are alot of thugs in the NFL but Lewis never seemed to fit that bill. -

Not a fan of either team, but it would be neat to see Ray Lewis go out with a big finish. -
We have a 1 buck limit here (and I hope it stays that way) so it would end my season to shoot an injured buck. I would probably take the shot on most wounded deer, however I think it would depend on the severity of the injury. I have seen/heard of deer that survived several years with only 3 good legs. It would just depend on the situation and if I decide that the deer will not heal up and be able to recover.
