We like to eat fast food from the McDonalds in Australia. Actually, we eat a couple items off the menu from a local chinese place. Other than that it's mostly deer meat and the grocery store.

Several I was thinking of have been posted. A couple that were not... Eli Wallach from the Good the Bad and the Ugly states (After nearly being hanged): "When the rope pulls tight you can feel the devil bite you on the a_ _." Tim Allen from The Santa Claus: After being told his son was conflicted by his sons step-father: Conflicted huh, hummm, I appreciate that but ya know you have more important things to worry about like where you're going to get more sweaters when the circus pulls out of town. (something like that).

This weekends pics- another eagle and hawks..

Very nice. I wish I had a camera that could zoom in like that. -
Think I'd wait Chris given that a lot of deflection can happen in 7-8 yards.

I did see one standing on an ice chunk as it went down the river. Pretty cool! I never knew there were eagle tours and specific viewing areas for these birds right here in my own back yard! I guess since I grew up with them I never really thought much of it. Well, after yesterday it's something I could get into.

Congratulations! I'm just about there myself and my thoughts are the same as your initial post.

Took the family out Eagle watching today. Have done this before, but never seen as many as today. I think we saw 20-30 in all. I can see why they are off the threatened species list! Truly a magnificent creature. If you get the chance to take a trip I strongly encourage it. These were near the Alton IL. area.

I didn't even know about weights at the scout store. If any of you have any "secrets" I'd sure like to hear them. In addition if anyone has any pictures of you or your sons pine wood derby car I'd love to see them.

Yea, that was my dad's approach. As a kid I tried cutting the block with a hand saw but didn't have the strength (it ended up looking pretty rough). My dad ended up cutting most of it out. What 6 year old can turn a 8x2 inch block of wood into a race car? I only have hand saws and a jigsaw. I don't know anyone that has a band saw. I'll let him hammer the nails in for the wheels and do the painting and decorating, but I went ahead and used the jigsaw to cut out the body and my drill to place the weights. Maybe that's going to far I don't know. Anyway, if the kids are supposed to do it themselves I think the cars should already be cut and they just get to pick a pre-cut design. JMHO

Happy birthday! Glad to brighten your day (even if just a little).

I guess I really don't know what a "Roman nose" looks like to tell you all the truth. Is it the short curved nose like on the one in the first picture or the long nose with a bump as in the second one?

Well it has been about 30 years since my last pine wood derby race when I was in cub scouts. Now I'm back for revenge! 30 years ago my dad took the minimal assistance approach and my car came in dead last! I still remember feeling like such a loser. My car wasn't much to look at either. All (and I mean all) the other kids had cars their dads made. My dad mentioned that the kids were supposed to make the cars, so basically they all cheated. Think that made it alright for me? Nope. I strugled with the idea of letting my 6 year old make his cub scout car by his self (for about a minute). Maybe I'm wrong?, but I'm going all out to make my sons car the fastest it can be. I'll let him do the painting and decorating. The rules state it can only weigh 5 ounces. Now who has a scale that measures in ounces???? Not me, so after I cut the basic shape out of the block of wood I took it up to Walgreens pharmacy to make sure I added enough weight (lead fishing sinkers) to make it just under 5 ounces. Yea I got some pretty wierd looks for that request. I'll post a picture of the finished product and my (err.. uh... I mean my SONS) trophy once we've won. The big race is scheduled for the 31st! Anyone else been in this boat/car? If so what did you do?

I have felt your pain! I also hear it from my students every semester. Exercise worked great for me in undergrad! Most student benefit from short study times as opposed to all nighters. After class take 30-45 minutes (later that same day/night) and review the content. It takes a lot of dedication and a strong will to do so (it's much easier to wait and cram the night before a test). Think about how much time actually goes into studying during an all nighter anyway? Study two hours, then check e-mail and the forums on RT for an hour. Study another 1/2 hour, get a call from friend and a visit from someone taking up another hour. Study another 1/2 hour (get bored and surf the net or play a video game for an hour). Study another hour and fall asleep until test time. Rush out the door to take test. However is best I hope it works out for you.

I never get tired of seeing harvested deer. Great buck your brother has there! I'll bet you taught him everything he knows.

Do everything except the sausage myself. Had a small doe done into sausage last fall and the meat locker charged me over $300.00. Of course 40% pork was added which I had to purchase. I plan to learn this part of the processing some day. I enjoy spending a cool fall/winter day with my dad skinning and butchering deer. I bought the 1.0 HP grinder from Cabela's last year and did seven deer with it. This year I only did 2 since everyone except me got skunked this year. Prior to last year I used to use a small kitchen grinder that had to be cleaned after grinding 3-4 pounds of meat because it got clogged. The Cabela's grinder has to be cleaned once (when you're done).

Fly fishing the Provo river in Utah last fall I hooked up with a big trout of some kind. Not sure since the river holds Brookies, Browns, Rainbow, and possibly more? This trout was likely the biggest I had ever hooked (I didn't get a real good look at him). The current was torrent and he kept heading for it. Well I almost had him. I had my net out and missed on my first attempt which was too bad becasue he broke my line before I got a second chance.

Those are both monster Muskies! BTW... Who caught that fish for you Randy?

My kids will be turning the channel and run across that show and want to watch it. They don't get why they can't watch it since it is a cartoon. I've never seen a whole episode, but I'm not one who gets into shock or bathroom humor. Same with South Park. Used to like it when it was brand new, but they pushed the envelop too far and now I have no use for it. I do find myself laughing a lot when I watch the Simpsons. They don't push as much and still find a way to be very funny.

Was going to purchase it for my wife for her birthday. A couple weeks ago I went to a game review site that indicated it was cool at first because of it being the first of its kind, but that once the newness wore off (after a month or two) it will likely start collecting dust. Not sure if that's accurate, but at 80+ bucks I decided to pass on it. The board used is genuius but looks pretty small and would require some coordination.

Nice trophy ya got there.

Girlfriend wants to go bowhunting...What bow would you suggest
fly replied to ShaneB's topic in Bowhunting
Doesn't matter as long as it is fastened to her hair tightly. You don't want it coming undone as she pulls back on a big buck! -
Great looking buck there. I wonder if your uncle would have used chains if it was his deer? I've got relatives I wouldn't let anywhere near my deer prior to being mounted.

Great looking deer everyone. Looks like dear ol dad is in all the photos. Well not mine, but that is because he was taking the picture.

Good luck! I hear kangaroo meat is pretty good.
