Thanks Ruth. It is an amazing hunting area. It's a public ground peninsula consisting of about 1000 acres. The ILDNR manage it for stocked pheasant hunting as well as deer during the archery season. This year was the second year they opened it for the 3 day smokepole season. The place is over-run with deer. It's common to see 20-40 deer during an evening hunt given you're in a tree stand and can see a large area. Getting those deer within 50 yards can be a challenge though because there are so many and can appear from any direction thus catching your scent and sounding the alarm.
