  1. This buck was listed on the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife website and it was killed on Oct. 2.
  2. I am new to turkey hunting and will be going out this Saturday. Is it necessary to brush in a turkey blind like you would a deer blind? I am hunting on public land, so I would be setting it up and taking it down the same day.
  3. Glad its out and you are doing okay! Wish they would have knocked me out when they removed the stent. The dr just gave it a tug and out it came. I Felt like punching the Dr. square in the face afterward!

I guess the turkeys are not the only ones that are dumb. I should have said "Dumb Turkeys" not "Dumb Turkey's". lol

    Dumb Turkey's!

These turkeys are just asking to be on the dinner table for Thanksgiving. This happened in Oklahoma City this week!
  6. Kidney stones suck! It's got to be the worst pain I have ever expirenced. I use to have them every six months, but haven't had one that hurt in a couple of years. Hope all goes well for you.
  7. A person's reaction/emotions of a kill, the joking, and the Camaraderie of friends is a huge part of hunting. In my opinion, if you leave these off it becomes dull, boring, and not worth watching.
  8. Couldn't get the Yahoo link to work so I just copied and pasted. Buck Fever is a sickness that sweeps through the country each fall and winter. Buck Fever has been known to cause school and work absences, marital strife, and general lack of productivity. In its extreme form, buck fever may cause divorce, termination of employment, and other minor difficulties. This article will help those suffering from buck fever and those with a love one afflicted with this often scoffed at illness. The history of the buck fever illness dates back to the first man who jumped out the tree and stood upright. Upon realizing that he no longer had to depend on the nuts growing in the tree he decided to find some real food. He had came into possession of some steak sauce and needed to find something to put it on. When a whitetail deer wandered by he reckoned that steaks could be procured from this animal. His mouth began to water and heart began to pound, thus the first case of Buck Fever. Buck fever is a peculiar ailment as it actually takes two distinct forms caused by the distinct microbe. The microbe that causes buck fever is known to the scientific community as kneedtoo huntis. The microbe causes both the Type I buck fever and the Type II. Type I buck fever often manifests itself as an overwhelming desire to go deer hunting. Specific symptoms may include fabricating doctor excuses from work and school, wearing camouflage, and sneaking out the house in the early morning hours. Type II buck fever often manifests itself as an uncontrollable shaking or inability to move when holding a gun or bow in front of a large buck. Loved ones of those suffering from buck fever may take the following steps to ease the pain. Get a second job so that the poor hunter can hunt more often. Pack sandwiches and cookies into a small paper bag for the hunter when leaving early in the morning. Be quiet at night so that the hunter suffering from buck fever can sleep. While modern science has found no exact cure for Buck Fever, the following are believed to make the illness less severe. The hunter should buy a new gun each year. The hunter should be allowed to hunt whenever legal regardless of petty social functions such as holidays, weddings, and funerals. Buck Fever is not an illness to take lightly. Once you have self diagnosed yourself with Buck Fever, your only choice is to hunt often and hunt long. And don't worry, we have all got it!

    Poison Ivy

I use to get it all the time and agree that clorox works wonders. A nurse once gave my dad an old remedy that has always worked for us. I only do it when I have a mild case on my arms or legs. When it is really bad or is on other places on my body I go to the dr and get meds. Fill the sink or tub up with really hot water and add bleach to the water. Put the affected area in the water and scrubb blisters with a clean wash cloth to open them up. Make a paste out of baking soda and butter milk and apply to the busted blisters. Sounds insane and really burns, but it will get rid of it within a day or two.

  11. Thanks for the info! I am confident in my shooting abilities/shot selection and I am generally level headed under pressure, but my kids and my wife are my world. The more that I can do to protect them the better I feel.

    Good News

    Great news! God is good.
  13. Has anyone had experience with the glaser round? Would it be suitable for home protection. It is not supposed to penetrate walls, but still have stopping power. I am considering getting some, but I am a little worried it will not do the job. Right now I am using a 12gauge with #3 shot for protection, but the kids are starting to get older and I can't leave it loaded. I really worry about being able to load it in the dark and have it ready, if I were to be awaken in the middle of the night.
  14. I have a question I need help with. About 4 months ago I moved 35 miles from where I work, so I bought a car that gets good gas mileage, has low miles, but it had a little bit of hail damage. My insurance company didn’t ask if it had any damage to the car and I didn’t think to inform them that it already had hail damage. Three months later we have a hail storm and my car gets a little more hail damage than it had, but nothing major. The insurance adjuster that was looking at my house, which also got some hail damage, noticed the car. I told him I was not going to make a claim on the car. Here is my question. If I were to get in the wreck, would my car insurance pay me what the car is worth or will they pay me what it is worth minus the hail damage? I just don’t know if I am wasting my money paying full coverage, or if I should just go with liability?
  15. Had someone send me this Tuesday and thought it was very fitting. Today's weather report has a number of safety precautions you should take note of: Tornados are coming-seek shelter in the interior of your house. Earthquakes are coming-avoid the interior of your home. Go outside if possible. There's lightning outside - avoid high ground There's flash flood warning- avoid low ground Parts of the state have received over 5" of rain in three hours. However- we have a burn ban. Welcome to Tuesday in Oklahoma!
  16. Thanks! I don't normally set until after 12:00, just have a hard time setting that long. Just wonder how many deer I miss seeing due to not setting on the stand long enough. Cudos to those who can set on the stand all day. I sure wish I could.
  17. I went hunting this past weekend and seen a lot of deer moving around the hours of 12:00 to 2:00pm. If you get on your stand shortly before day break, How long do you stay on your stand? Also, what time of day do you usually see the most deer?
  18. Congrats! I am sure your grandpa is really proud.
